My brain immediately went to that French song that translates as "my blackbird has lost a feather" and went "yeah seems legit" oh Ruby.

The only other one I think we all got a glimpse of is 'Penelope Peppermint and the Silver Tipped Occtopus' which is believed to be some ripoff of 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' from what I remember.

I'd laugh at her for ripping off other works, but my current work in progress straight up references my current hyperfixation. If it isn't a full ripoff i don't know what it is lol. I'd say I'm just as bad as Ruby.

She really has fallen off the YouTube/Social Media train. I wonder what is going on with her. Struggles with her degree, struggles with writing, struggles with growing up, struggles with not having the slightest idea what she is going to do after she gets her degree, if she gets her degree. I think she will be lucky if she barely passes. She definitely is not embracing the academic spirit or all that Oxford has to offer. I think she just wants it over, at this point, and to run back home for good so she can twirl in fields and lay on the wet morning dew in her white nightie, musing on clouds and being more than just productive. A good dose of a full time job, 9-5, with a major variety of co-workers and regular hours, limited vacation, would do her a world of good. Of course, most looking over her resume will be wondering why she went to Oxford for a Masters in that field and why she isn't pursuing a career in it. I don't get the impression she has anything lined up.

Once you see the claw, you really can’t unsee it. It makes such a heavy appearance in her insta story about talking to Lemony Snicket. Actually made my hand feel uncomfortable when I watch the claw come out.

I noticed that despite being home for the last 2 weeks she hasn't uploaded a new video as the last video she uploaded was when she was massively struggling/stressing out over her essays. Even though she is at home for Easter she still doesn't seem that happy to me and the fact that she went back to Oxford to spend one night there tells me that she doesn't know what to do with herself as she is very bored at home.

Exactly. She is realizing that she can't run away from this situation. She chose to go for her masters degree and to apply to Oxford for it, thinking she could breeze through it. It isn't working out like she expected, by any means. And with no future planned, she has nothing going for her. I still don't think she knows how to drive, which will be necessary for a job and independence, unless she plans to have her mommy drive her around for the rest of her life, which is likely. All her childishness is catching up fast and she is probably realizing what a waste of time most of her YouTube and other social media content has been. You can't go back in time, no matter how much you want to, ever. So she better start growing up, big time. Her behaviour is beyond ridiculous now.

You can get why Ruby would like Gilmore Girls. The show is annoying tries to sound smart. They like eating out a lot and the pretending to not have privilege. Plus it fits into her astextic

Having a deep-dive watch into roobee's old videos — I can't help but see the comparison between her god-awful bootleg hermione insipred fringe to that of pre-bonded fibreglass nail tips.

We’re coming up on two weeks since her last video. Again. I wonder if she plans to announce quitting yt, or just fade away. for anyone worrying about how I’m coping with this lack of content, which I hope is no one, no need to worry as I have just got into Stardew Valley and I’m feeling fine

I think she is slowly fading away from YouTube and social media in general as she doesn't seem to be as motivated as she used to be as she doesn't post as much as she used to. I mean I thought we would get a video last week seeing as it is currently half term but we didn't get anything which is most unlike her as she always uploads a video when it is half term yet this time she didn't which was very odd IMO. Therefore I wouldn't be surprised if she hardly uploads any videos between now and when the course finishes as she is clearly lacking the motivation to upload videos.

Or if we are getting a video from her, it will be one that is sponsored and she needs to get it done for a certain time. I think that she will fade away with from social media until the course is done and then come back, and just focus on writing content instead of her trying to pretend that she's academic.

I think that Oxford has not allowed her to have her dark academia fantasy and she's been hit with reality/ or it's not gone the ways she's planned, and she's struggling to make content. There's only so many Oxford videos she can make using the same shots all the time and same content. She would do well with just a video about an aspect of her course such as female early modern writers, but she's never spoken about the actual content of her course. She could at least explain why she chose her course instead of filming herself looking as if she's going to have a breakdown at her laptop.

Let’s not forget she reported nearly £ 300.000 in earnings on her 2023 tax return which she made through her influencer work. That’s not something you give up just because you are bored. Unless her “first” novel is a breakout bestseller, I don’t see her giving up YouTube just yet. Roobs loves the rubles!

What's going on is simple: it's what happen when you base your whole content on your childhood achievements and don't even try to make it evolve.

Easy, that's what happens when you base your whole content on school. Except if you end working as a teacher, yet you'll have to diversify the way you present it.
One day you have to move on, either by slowly introducing new style of content, either by vanishing.

Whatever happened to that mate she had that was also called Ruby? And they were like "twins" Both obsessed with Hermione, etc.

I'm also still baffled she's using 'Granger' Ruby Bones is a much cooler name (one thing I will say I like about her, haha)

I think Ruby has 0 passion for social media/content creation any more but does have passion for £££ hence why we only see sponsored videos and undisclosed adverts. What she wants is to be 15 again back in her childhood bedroom getting to be the no 1 GCSE study gal again but that won't happen. Her audience has aged but she hasn't, she is out of touch with her 'brand' and too rigid and stuck in her ways to change. I think she will keep up half arsed influencer content until sponsors dry up, and can also use it to guarantee at least some sales/positive reviews of any books that do eventually get published

She’s not the best student in tiny local school anymore so probably doesn’t have anything to show off

Sure, if you're dressing vintage as in dressing for a specific period of history, yes you need to do your hair and makeup, otherwise it looks like you're wearing half a costume (especially if a formal "outdoors" outfit is worn. Equivalent informal wear like house dresses and aprons don't so much have the problem). But if you're dressing vintage as in "old fashioned" as Ruby used to love to call it you don't have to put in half as much effort.

The reason Ruby looks so juvenile in much of her old fashioned outfits are her details. She wears her hair down or only half up the vast majority of the time. It makes her look childish. She would look far more like an adult looking to get business done with her hair up (a bun, or french twist perhaps). She insists upon childish shoes and ankle socks. She often wears modern long sleeve knit t-shirts with older fashioned elements which gives toddler.

Her berets I think typify this.

I'd actually be glad for her if she does step away from Youtube, she needs therapy and to work on her future goals. Eve Bennet knew when it was time to 'call time' on vlogging, and I respect her for that and she's now invested in her career. Ruby needs to step away from being a social media persona and work on herself.
