Oh, I’m sure she applied for postgraduate funding! It doesn’t really require significant extra work - basically part of the application process. But there’s no way Ruby would be offered any, she is a weak candidate. It’s quite limited at masters level and goes to the strongest candidates.

I assumed it was a video sponsorship deal with a company and not relating to a scholarship. The total cost of her masters (tuition plus a flat or room in Oxford for a year) won't be above £25k I imagine, which is more than affordable for a 23-year-old landlord.

This. And let’s be real - she can probably cover the full amount with about five to ten sponsored videos.

This just came up in my YouTube recommended, just thought I would remind people how tone deaf Ruby can be. There isn't anything necessarily wrong with receiving so much but there is no need for her to show absolutely everything online, could just do a few things

(Also apologies for not interacting much lately, got final exams soon so sadly Ruby is not one of my priorities)

Ruby’s gift hauls are my favourite. Blatant consumerism! Unbridled embrace of her privilege! Shameless attempts to fabricate one flimsy, fake identity after another!

such a shame she didn’t grace us with a birthday one this year.;)

They are some of the only videos in which she looks genuinely happy..

I watched one of her old Study With Mes the other day and now they keep coming up in my recommended videos. One of them is a 12 hour study day (this was during school when she really was studying a ridiculous number of hours per day and not stitching together four days' worth of footage) in August. There is no need to do even two hours of studying during the summer holidays as a 17 year old, let alone 12 hours.

Even though it was her own choice, I ended up feeling a bit sad for her. She didn't really create the memories that everyone else did on school holidays, and she would've easily made it to Exeter to study English by doing only half the work she did in sixth form.

Honestly the only people in my highschool who studied over the summer were the ones who had to resit exams from the previous semester or were struggling in general. I really don’t understand what she gained from studying 12 hours in August…

Her YouTube career, bagloads of money and a pretty dubious variety of “fame”…

Just skimmed through that video and the money spent never fails to surprise me. Those mugs alone would have been £25!! And she got two! And that was only one of the many gifts!

I’ve seen most of Rubert’s more recent haul videos, but I actually hadn’t seen the 2018 one, so this evening I took some time to watch it and it… weirdly, made me feel a bit sad? She seems much happier, more grounded and more normal in it than in anything recent. The contrast is so strong that (for me at least) it’s genuinely unsettling.

There was so much more authenticity in the 2018 one, I felt (less advertising, and much more content reflecting products she genuinely used), and she looked A LOT better when she wasn’t so under-nourished. While I realise she’s doing it to herself and that it’s a mental health issue (whatever the exact problem - ED, control problems, etc), she has the support and resources to make changes in her life. She’s not dependent on limited NHS mental health support or an absent GP. It’s sad to see someone destroy their body in pursuit of what they perceive to be a desirable “childish” aesthetic when, frankly, she’s short and blonde - plenty of people would have continued to see her as young and as an ingenue even if she had stayed a healthy weight.

She seems to have far more of a genuine interest in her family and her social relationships in the 2018/2019 gift hauls too (I rewatched 2019 to compare after this one). I can believe she feels pleasure at spending time with them, that she actually appreciates the effort put into some of her presents and things like her dad making vegan Christmas food for her. Whereas in her recent videos, everything feels so fake and hollow.

It is a huge shame she has leaned into this attempt to aestheticise everything. She has totally lost touch with what made her channel work in the first place - while she was always vastly privileged, there was some charm and freshness to her back in the day. It wasn’t always pure cringe.

I shouldn't be surprised at the poor quality of work coming from the warehouse that PONKIN PODTIBTI use, but good lord, the state of this box. That flimsily slapped-on bit of thin tape is barely holding the thing together. No wonder half the planners either arrive damaged or don't arrive at all.

As you can tell by Ruby's VARRY JANUINE ACKSPRASSHION, she's HONNASTLEE excited to receive this year's academic planner, which...looks exactly like all the previous planners she never actually used.

It'll maybe sound weird but I never really realized they were wealthy before watching a what I got for christmas video, the state of their house, the fact she is always freezing in winter ( logically when you can't afford to warm your house, it's for financial reasons), the fact she still keep clothing from her 12 years when being 17... For all of these reasons I thought they didn't have that much money.

And then came the christmas videos lol

Oh and the planners look even worst, what's that color seriously..?

Why is she looking at it for the first time? I thought she WAHKT very hard on design it herself. Surely she would have seen the finished product before they started printing and shipping?

I totally agree with you on this. I got very similar results to Ruby and studied a fraction of what she did…it always shocked me that someone who did 15 hour study days wouldn’t have got all A*s or perhaps would have opted to do 4 subjects at A2. I think a large reason of why she didn’t get into Oxford for her undergrad was due to her not being well rounded enough… everyone that applies has those grades (and is head girl/boy) but most have something else that makes them special (instruments, sports, etc.). I know I’m not saying anything new here btw!

Being well-rounded isn’t a factor in undergraduate admissions for Oxford and Cambridge. It’s a huge part of getting into top colleges in the USA - this is why private schools in the UK are starting to employ staff just to work on US application strategies, actually, because the approach is so different! As Oxbridge tries to lower their percentage of private school admissions further, more and more of those privileged sixth formers aim to go overseas instead.

Oxford and Cambridge are much more interested in (1) genuine ability for the subject concerned, and (2) teachability within the tutorial/supervision system. I’m not at all surprised Ruby didn’t get in (though I do feel sorry for her considering how much she wanted to).

This really is a mark of a rich person, if after going on holiday you can have a 'post-holiday reset routine'.
I am lucky if i get 4 days of free time in a row.
