also, why are the palm of her hands so red?
She's been giving herself a round of applause for weeks straight.

Totally random but I've been on the Dakota Warren thread on Tattle. I wonder if Roob sold her extracted tooth to Dakota... 🤣 (Im sure a lot of you are aware that Dakota collects teeth)
She's TWALVE, so she definitely put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy.

about Oxford , my friend applied for English 1900-present/ lit MA course but heard back just under 2 weeks ago (didn't get a spot sadly.) so I think ruby must know by now. imo she can't have got in, she hid the fact she applied to start with as she prob wanted to avoid potential public rejection again but there's no way she'd keep her mouth shut after an offer, I think the holiday was pre planned as either celebration or pick me up

Heeeey it's not Roobee but Welshgal.
Haven't been on here in ages as I just lost interest in Ruby but decided to check her feeds again yesterday and wow ... how much did I miss? Feels like a lot happened and at the same time absolutely nothing? Her nails still look disgusting, she still looks like a malnourished child (though I don't think it has gotten worse, so that's something) and still lives at home. Anything mayor I missed? Do we still see dead flies? Is she still writing her groundbreaking novel? What's up with her bed being in the middle of her room?
I'll try and read the threads but it's probably going to take a while :giggle:
Welcome back!

You've missed almost nothing.

She's been on about 596 luxury family holidays overseas, while moaning about how poor she is.

She went on a "literary pilgrimage" to Boston, Mass. She went solo for a change, which was a big step, but then she spent one week of the trip barely leaving her hotel room and the next week getting free VIP tours of the AMMILY DICKINSUN MYOOSEEOM in exchange for advertising it in videos. Ruby lied her ass off, failed to declare her gifted events and experiences and claimed the whole thing was "volunteer work".

Ruby finally got a "job" at her old school. She "works" 3 hours a day, 3 hours a week and appears to do absolutely nothing. She started 3 months into the term and then appears to have quit after 2 months, since she was on an extended family ski holiday during term time and doesn't appear to have gone back to work since.

She applied to Oxford again, for a Masters this time. The jury's still out if she got in or not. She started following a couple of Oxford Uni colleges right around the time decisions were due back, but she's also been posting lots of cryptic messages about not being disappointed if your dreams don't come true, so who knows.

Lottie Parton, the YA book her agent was shopping around, was pulled from submission, so they're no longer trying to sell it to publishers. Ruby claims this was JANUINELY her choice because she wanted some other book to be her first published novel. It's an explanation that makes no sense, and Ruby likely just made up some bullshit to save face since she was expecting a bidding war for her book and got nothing but rejections instead.

She wrangled her way into a couple of public speaking events, one at King's College London, where she embarrassed herself greatly by bringing her childish, addle-brained nonsense to a debate full of professional academics. She followed that up by giving a speech on suffragettes and feminism, which she seemed equally unequipped and unqualified for and appeared to be speaking to an empty room.

She's replaced that curved block of wood that she called a desk with a new, real desk, but it's somehow even more cramped than the old one. The bed move was part of her "it's good to change your environment to stay motivated" nonsense (just as long as you don't change your environment by moving out of your childhood bedroom into the cottage that you bought).

Other than that, she's still attached at the hip to mummy, still wasting away in her bedroom, still a pathological liar, still living in squalor and still posting undeclared ads in recycled routine videos full of editing errors.

This is far from a crappy product. Dakota is a poet and an artist and Ruby probably doesn't understand anything in the book, because it's about Dakota's life and feelings. But unlike Ruby, she's living a very full life, she's very passionate about her writing and reading. She reads smaller books mostly, doesn't rush them, truly savours them. She calls herself a hedonist and I feel like Ruby would have insulted her and called her something a lady shouldn't be called because of her kind of bohemian lifestyle of savouring every moment, drinking and really living life to the fullest. If anything, she must be terribly jealous of Dakota, because she's so successful with her work.
Nahhh, Dakota Warren is just as pretentious and untalented as Ruby 🤣 and her poetry is also shite, if not shite-r.
They’re basically the same jarring, middle class person, except for the fact that Dakota has a serious problem with booze.

Her attempt at a PhD is inevitable I fear
Which she'll also successfully complete, because she has the financial resources and the non-material support systems that will enable her to succeed even in the absence of an ounce of talent. Meanwhile, scores of gifted students will never ever make it this far in academia because they, unlike Ruby, don't have rich parents to back them every step of the way.

But tbh this wouldn't be nearly as depressing for me if Ruby would not constantly drone on about how hard she works, etc. It's her unshakeable conviction that she got to where she is through her own merit that really gets to me tbh

Ruby's writing sample:

Alyssa would've opened it. If outside beyond the farm she hadn't heard the thunder. Thunder thick and heavy as smoke.
She fumbled. The devil had business on his hand.
Although not particularly superstitious, Alyssa trusted the poets, the myths, not absolutely, but vaguely in the way that you trust your conscience. So instead of opening the letter, she unlocked the cubicle and tucked the stack deep into her bottom drawer, knocking her knuckles so hard that they later stained yellow with splinters.

Just terrible. In lieu of any talent or any ability to write evocative description of foreboding weather, Ruby just rips off 'Tam o' Shanter' by Robert Burns and awkwardly shoves a line from it in where it doesn't make any sense, dumbs it down and makes it infinitely worse.

(The passage she's cribbing from, for reference:

The wind blew as ’twad blawn its last;
The rattling showers rose on the blast;
The speedy gleams the darkness swallow’d;
Loud, deep, and lang, the thunder bellow’d:
That night, a child might understand,

The Deil had business on his hand.)

I'll give her the benefit of the doubt and say this was an attempt at literary allusion rather than plagiarism, but it's a godawful attempt, and the borrowed quote feels so awkwardly shoehorned in a sentence too late. Her agent must be sweating bullets at the prospect of wading through another 300 pages of this shit.

And what's her fixation with characters injuring the skin on their hands in every story she writes? Hands are always scrubbed raw, picked to the bone or bashed to bits. Charting a trajectory of escalation, by the time Ruby finally gets something published, it'll be a story about the most productive girl who ever lived, who just happened to have lost both her hands in separate stationery-related accidents.

Guys could someone please explain the ways in which Blakeney helped Ruby with her degree (or point me towards an existing post which talks about it), I think I missed that. Thanks!
Ruby showed in videos that she often took all the shortcuts she could to get through uni while doing as little work of her own as possible and had Blakeney pick up the slack for her in a lot of suspicious and underhanded ways.
  • She had Blakeney share her Notion page so Ruby had access to all her notes.
  • Ruby suspiciously mentioned that she read the Sparknotes summary of every single primary text before actually reading the text itself, which was a massive red flag that Ruby did this instead of reading any of the assigned texts. She also admitted that she read all the critical material before the main texts, too.
  • Along with this, she scheduled a 'debrief' session with Blakeney before every single seminar and lecture and said she 'suddenly understood her own thoughts' after Blakeney told her about all the reading that Ruby clearly hadn't done.
  • Ruby then mentioned that she'd arranged with Blakeney to share the recommended critical reading entirely - they would each read half of the secondary essays, summarise and then share the summary with the other so they could skip half the actual reading. The notes Ruby showed of her own were practically useless, so Blakeney did not seem to benefit from this arrangement at all and likely had to do Ruby's half of the reading herself anyway, but Ruby made out like a bandit.
  • Ruby "coincidentally" picked every single module that Blakeney was taking. Ruby started getting defensive the second she mentioned this and protested that it was completely unintentional, which was a huge red flag that Ruby did it intentionally so she got to be with her BASST FRAND and (more importantly) got to use all of the above lifelines in every module.
Sharing notes or having a study session with a friend on the same module is one thing, but the sheer extent to which Ruby did all this, along with sending long, leading emails to lecturers to coax ideas and thoughts out of them, looked every shade of suspicious.

It made it pretty clear that Ruby was very likely just cobbling together a skeleton essay from existing essays, Blakeney's notes and ideas and her lecturers' thoughts and padding it out from there while doing none of the required reading and coming up with no ideas of her own.

When I walk in the rain, my socks aren’t damp because I wear fucking wellies. There’s no mud on my coat either, because unlike Roobee and swine, I do not wallow in anything. And I don’t think I’ve ever forgotten where I am. What she’s describing is something you’d expect from either a two-year-old or someone with a severe alcohol ethanol problem.

*edited so it’s clear I’m not referring to xylitol, maltitol or cetearyl alcohol

I totally agree with this and I don't understand why, suddenly, because Ruby got into Oxford, she's become a hard worker and an ambitious person. If she was that hard-working, she wouldn't have dropped out of her teaching job. And if she was so ambitious, she would have used her gap year to do more productive things than what she's shown so far.
---

Exactly! If Ruby was sooo deserving of a place in Oxford, why didn't she get it when she applied for a Bachelor? Because the interview went wrong!
On paper, any person who had enough brains to boost his/her C.V. would look great. In person, that's a different matter altogether.
Ruby didn’t even get good enough A level grades to get in to Oxford for undergrad, even if she hadn’t flopped at her interview. But most people who apply to Oxford for postgrad are in the same boat. Way fewer people pursue postgraduate degrees than undergraduate degrees. The competition is less fierce. And Oxford being the top uni doesn’t mean all the top students are concentrated there, especially at post grad level. Many brilliant students will apply to other unis to work under specific academics or to use specific resources or archives to fit their their research interests. I just think the idea of someone who applied and got in not ‘deserving’ Oxford is so dumb (if she had got in to a less prestigious uni would anyone be saying this, I think not), it sounds like Oxford is being put on a pedestal, when let’s be real, people in this thread are all well aware of an idiot or 2 who goes there.

Every posh wanker you’ve ever had the displeasure of meeting.

Most of the Tory party

Rubys old pal Molly - who spent her entire teenage years making a fool of herself online skinwalking other people and jumping from productivity content to ED baiting and back x100 before finally realising it’s cringe (waiting for her to come back to social media with a new identity, because she always does)

Vee - I don’t need to say anymore. This woman is as thick as two short planks. Like I seriously think she has a below average IQ.

A bunch of other toxic productivity youtubers who think waking up at 4am is the only way to be successful at life and make videos about how to read books in 15 minutes and how to make to do lists.

I’m sure I’m missing a lot of people.
But idiots can and do succeed at Oxford all the time. Is she hardworking and ambitious, idk. I think her main ambition has been to get into Oxford, she’s not thought any further ahead. Because of that I’m pretty sure she’s going to absolutely love it there. Will she use her time effectively? No, she’ll probably work 16 hours a day but she has no life anyway so that won’t make a difference. She’ll do fine 💀💀

I always hold Ruby accountable for her mistakes and thinly veiled shit moral code but come on guys she got accepted into oxford for God’s sake. The best university in the world!!! Surely, no matter how messed up she might be, there is some real brain and material in her because we all know how competitive it is to get into Oxbridge.
It's not the same as getting into Oxford to do your undergrad though. The number of people who want to pursue postgraduate study is quite small in general, never mind for arts/humanities masters specifically. The bar for getting in is lower at postgrad. You just get a 1st in your undergrad and send a CV and some example pieces of work. There's no interview - if there was you can bet she wouldn't have been successful.

I've just come here after watching the video. She really doesn't seem as happy as I thought she would. In some places it actually seemed more like she was trying to convince herself that she's excited. I agree with others here in that i think her delayed announcement was definitely because she's either scared/having regrets about applying. i think its really hit her that this is a reality and she won't be able to sit at home doing nothing but her pointless routines, especially now she's made it official by announcing it - now she has a load of expectant followers waiting for the oxford content, so she's committed to it.

I guess in relation to whether we think she deserves to get into Oxford or not - I think she does. She has worked hard, and committed a lot of her time to academics and I would hate to see her fail there and have a miserable time. Yeah, I don't particularly like her, or the 'productive' study bullshit narrative she promotes online, but she is also human, and I think she deserves to be happy. At the end of the day, she isn't an awful person, just incredibly privileged and out-of-touch with the rest of society; and she has made some questionable choices over the years with her content. Whether or not she will cope there, I'm not sure, and I guess we will have to wait and see.

Scholarships are generally awarded on academic merit (having one makes you a Scholar, so nothing to do with income). People with low incomes are awarded a grant/bursary. So I guess she’s eligible for them.. I don’t know if Ruby is academically impressive enough to get one though but who the heck knows at this point 😂 she got in when we all thought she wouldn’t so I wouldn’t be surprised. Her college probably offers a lot of them. It’s something to make you look impressive on your CV so I wouldn’t put it past her to apply for some.

EDIT: just remembered at Oxford scholars also get to wear special robes so Rubes would love that, a hogwarts cosplay!! I think she’ll jump at the chance

Lurker here but to correct - Graduate scholars don't get special gowns. That's just the undergrads. She'll be wearing a graduate gown which is the same design as undergrad 'commoners' (non-scholars) but a bit longer. Essentially sleeveless open vests. They look really stupid (I know, I had to wear one). Either way, there are barely any funded Humanities Masters, especially in English.

I did one of the Oxford English MSt's. Different time period but the structure of the courses are the same. There is VERY little hands-on teaching. Also when she was talking about learning how to handle manuscripts, I laughed a bit. You get given a talk on how not to set them on fire or rip them and get sent on your merry way. You do get a little more info on how to decipher different scripts but it's certainly not a material manuscripts course by any means.

It is mostly self-guided. Also, like most of the 9-month Humanities MSt's, it is known to be a 'panic' Masters for those who don't know what to do next, those who have more money than they know what to do with, Americans, or - like for myself - an annoying hoop to jump through for those who want to go on to do a PhD (most scientists can go from their integrated BA/MA straight into funded PhDs). I am genuinely happy she is clearly feeling validated and more secure after this. But I hope she manages her expectations. Masters are famously a 'cash cow' for the university, the teaching is limited (although, granted, the academics are amazing and the resources obviously pretty unique), and - most of all - it is INCREDIBLY compressed time wise due to the 8-week Oxford term. No time for faff...and we know what Ruby likes to do best...

I can't lie, it really does bug me that she lies about being bullied (I'm not saying this annoys me more than the worse stuff she's done and said, just to clarify)

I can imagine not everyone liking her in school and finding her pretentious, which she interpreted as bullying, but I think most people associate bullying with sometimes traumatising abuse, and to lie about that gives me major ick.

My school years were the worst of my life and one girl in particular literally left me traumatised, so it just bothers me she lies about it to add to her fabricated personality traits

(Sorry for the long post and my bad English, I feel like I'm always apologising for it when I post but it isn't my first language)

oh god, now she’s naming the Karamatsov brothers. There’s ”Aloysha” and ”Eye-van” 😂😂😂 oh god make it stop 😂

it’s also somehow remarkable to her that the characters aren’t just good or bad, but complex 😂 WELCOME TO GROWN-UP BOOKS, Rootabaga!

edit: is she getting stupider or is it just me? also, apparently Jon Snow is now also a character in the Hunger Games universe 😂
