I've been having so much anxiety over my future for the past few weeks (it's been so bad, I literally broke down crying from the stress while cooking dinner more than once). it's bad to say this but watching Ruby's weird antics makes me feel better about myself lol.
Yeah, I agree to this! I hesitated to comment Rubys watercolor "art" before. (It felt immature to mock that and I pitied too much to criticise) But I should admit I felt more comfortable about my attempts of art after seeing her paintings 🥴

Sorry but even with a part time job she just people around lighting candles outside and writing bad poems and then burning them as some psuedo-intellectual exercise. And does she know what boredom means? Being bored is bad, being unproductive =/= boredom, filling your time with little things isn't 'boredom', it's healthy and normal.

Why did she cut the material for the collar on her bed and not a flatter surface like her desk? 😭 I don't really mind her doing things like that because it seems genuine from her even if it's not very good, unlike the arbitrary 30 pages of The Brothers 'Karamatsov'.

But what was that pronunciation of du Maurier (du Merriere??)?

"Making space for boredom."
"Prioritising boredom."
"Allow yourself to be bored and create."

Umm...what?

Leisure time shouldn't be boring. Creative outlets shouldn't be boring. You should have things in your life that you enjoy doing that aren't "PRODOCKTIVE". Life isn't supposed to be just work and boredom and boredom isn't something to aspire to. You shouldn't be trying to punish yourself with boredom to try to force yourself to be productive; leisure time is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not an after-school detention.

This might be the stupidest thing she's ever said. How is every single video she makes even dumber and more toxic than the last? She tries so hard to sound profound and scholarly, yet every indescribably stupid thing she says sound like a Derek Zoolander quote.

"Oiy was surpoyzed that the stars weren't paler."

"Sommtoimes it can seem impossabul tyo...trigger creativity. THIS IS THE BIG QUASSCHUN: How dyoo wee myake oursalves cre--[loud sounds of boiling water tap drowning out everything] How dyoo wee GAT OUTSALVES tyoo...DO sommthing creeyaytive and what does that does that even mean? This...is sommthing oiy've been thinking about recently...and...oiy dyon't have an awwhnser for it? ...Boht...oiy dyoo have thoughts...and oiy...think it has sommthing tyoo dyoo with...toiyme."

Because Ruby's videos are all just a predictable assembly line of cliches at this point, she naturally starts quoting WROYTAHS to try to prove whatever point she thinks she's trying to make about whatever she's babbling about. "Neil Gaiman wonce wryote..."

"Tyooday, howavver, was SLOIGHTLEE different...to whan...oiy...yeeshully sit down and wroyte sommething. BECOZZ...oiy was taking the advoyce of JAY DEE SALINGER. At least...oiy think it was him...[Triumphant music plays]"

Apparently J.D. Salinger may or may not have encouraged writing things just to burn them to focus on "the pro-sass" and not the "dass-tinayshun".

Ruby writes a poem just to burn it, which is something she should do with all her creative projects, but then she stores the ashes in her room. Ruby somehow believes that burning another of her bull poems about the weather and seagulls was such a profound loss to the literary world that she needs to put it in a little urn on a shelf to mourn this tragedy.

And then she uses these ashes to paint a picture, to channel this literary loss into a wonderful new creation - a creative reincarnation, "loiyke a phoenix".

Umm...well, that looks about on par with the quality of her poetry. It's like if a curd was reincarnated as a darker, more worrying curd.

"Oiy...want tyo laahrnn and oiy want to gat batter."

My favourite part is when - in this video that's supposed to be about "making room for boredom" - Ruby says she was getting distracted by her phone and this is simply unacceptable. People aren't allowed to enjoy their free time, apparently. She flips her phone over to hide the screen, but that's not enough to shield herself from the horrors of unproductiveness, so she picks her phone back up just to angrily smash it against the kitchen table, because that's totally normal.

But the footage she chose to show on her phone is unintentionally hilarious...

Not to worry, Ruby, I have the same reaction of horror and disgust when seeing Jack Edwards.

What a meandering mess of toxic productivity nonsense and undeclared ads this video was and what a pathetic and empty life she's living.

Did anyone hear mother granger tell Ruby in a cross voice to 'clean up your paintbrush'? Its during the part when Roob was making herself the bowl of noodles 🤣

Its around 13mins 12 seconds. Sounds like 'You could clean up your paintbrush at least'

The fact that her mom is jumping all over her ass at 22 is so incredibly funny to me

Rusty furniture all over every inch of the garden, unwashed clutter all over the house, grime and dust on every surface, random food waste in every nook and cranny, but a paintbrush on the kitchen table is where Mummy Bones draws the bleeping line.

What a family. Like watching evolution in reverse.

Just because someone's well-known as an author it doesn't mean their advice will be useful. J.D Salinger was a notably weird man who followed all sorts of fads. Let's hope Ruby doesn't see his reclusive life as something to emulate! I mean, William Burroughs may have popularised the cut-up technique, but he was also a lifelong addict who shot his wife in the head so...

if a curd was reincarnated as a darker, more worrying curd.
I wish this could be a thread title. 😂 😂

Mummy Bones must be starting to lose patience with the Roobster. Like others have pointed out, Ruby has to tag along with them everywhere, and she barely leaves the house.

But, as long as Mummy and Daddy Bones indulge her, and her inability to grow up, nothing will change. Ruby has it made.

Rent and board free huge house and garden. She doesn't seem to help with housework and chores. A free chauffeur service. No pressure to get a full time job. No money worries. Of course she won't leave.

Those comments though! The first ones sounds like they're praising a 4-year old for tidying their room. :ROFLMAO:

Sure, she’s new to sewing, but aren’t there like a million free tutorials on yoochoob on how to do it even halfway correctly?
I don't want to be a fool about beginner's work being bad but honestly, The first thing I ever sew was a pencil case last year, I used one of those crappy, hand sized sewing machines that run on AA batteries and it still looks pretty decent because I actually looked up and followed instructions. Novel idea for Ruby, I know.

I think Ruby expects to be naturally good at everything, doesn't bother reading or watching a tutorial and ends up with something like the cape!collar and then says that it's not good so nobody can say it before she does lol. We're allowed to be tit at something we enjoy doing, I just don't know why she lacks so much self awareness, especially when she has thousands of viewers who are very aware of what she does, all the time.

The Instagram video of her organising the tea is SO awful. Not surprised that she's too cheap to buy some nice containers for all of the loose bags but did manage to put them in Primark plastic crates.

Glad that people are commenting that it is pointless drawing out this plan. What a terrible Ad. Also complete failure to mention her other ad/gifted products she waves around (baard and blaaand).

In Ruby's latest TikTok, she announces she's giving away 90 of her planners to three secondary school classes!!! How kind!

Her brain visibly stutters as she's trying to explain what a planner is, and then she reveals that it's not a straightforward giveaway, it's a convoluted "jump through my hoops as I roleplay a benevolent teacher above my station" exercise where teachers - who are currently fighting for fair pay and better working conditions in comparison to the hours they're having to put in for the benefit of their students - have to spaff away their time by answering at least one of Ruby's three questions:

1. What is something interesting your class has learnt recently? Probably so she can do a quick Wikipedia search on it and then "didjoo knyow" them with her own superior 'knowledge'
2. What is your class’s top study tip? Why does Ruby think everyone is a hive mind? "We" think this, what is 30 people's collective top study tip?
3. What exam advice can you offer as we now move into mocks season? Ruby would love to know the answer to this as she's going to be sitting her GCSEs as research this summer!

New YT video thoughts:
- At this point, is she trolling us by lighting candles and taking them outside? So unhinged that she goes out in the dark when it is -6 to go "write".
- In every video she quotes people to try to sound intelligent but I think it actually makes her look dumb. It is very "here is my 6th form essay", constantly parroting other people but not adding your own opinions/line of argument, etc.
- What was she thinking with that ghost shot of herself lol
- Her sewing would drastically improve if she cut out the pattern, with a ruler, on a table!
- Towards the end of the video she tells us that she got distracted by her phone... she had already told us it was after lunch... multiple outfits and inconsistent timelines again. Surprise surprise.
- When she says the poem she burnt was good. Like sure, the one good poem you write is the one you burn Roobz.
- When she said "a phoenix, if you please". She must be so exhausted from cosplaying all the time.

She's going to try to live there forever, I feel. Whether her parents want to stay together or split up in the future, they are going to have permanent limpet Ruby in their home unless they tell her she needs to sort herself out and get a job that gets her out of the house (one that isn't going back to her old school). She has money so she could easily afford renting with other girls, for company.

Unless they show tough love, the Bones are going to be stuck.

That house must be a money pit and their kids are adults now, so surely they must be thinking, "let's start a new chapter elsewhere, or downsize, or whatever". If Ruby gets a masters she will still come home every weekend. Other Studytubers, like Eve Bennett, had parents move house while they were at uni and so home became a place to stay as a guest, rather than come home to every week.

And you can imagine Jade will be renting quite soon once she finishes Minerva, because she will want her independent casual magic life 🤪🤷‍♀️

Ruby shows no signs of planning where she will live after this gap year or masters. Her younger sister is already doing her own thing, and whilst Martha is a bit haphazard, I think time and experience will do her well.

Oh, and as a sewist, that collar is an abomination...not because of her novice sewing skills (which is understandable), but because of her awful cutting...so jagged! When you cut out the pieces so roughly like that, nothing will line up and it will look like it has been dragged through a hedge. She should have cut it out on the floor or a tabletop, and took slower, smaller snips to get the curve right. No, instead, Ruby half asses it by chopping like she's Edward Scissorhands in a race.

And then there is the ribbon just plonked on top, with no thought for pinning and curving the ribbon carefully to follow the curved edge. If you are going to devote a day to crafting and creativity, slow down, do it mindfully and it will work out well.
