"Making space for boredom."
"Prioritising boredom."
"Allow yourself to be bored and create."
Umm...what?
Leisure time shouldn't be boring. Creative outlets shouldn't be boring. You should have things in your life that you enjoy doing that aren't "PRODOCKTIVE". Life isn't supposed to be just work and boredom and boredom isn't something to aspire to. You shouldn't be trying to punish yourself with boredom to try to force yourself to be productive; leisure time is supposed to be fun and relaxing, not an after-school detention.
This might be the stupidest thing she's ever said. How is every single video she makes even dumber and more toxic than the last? She tries so hard to sound profound and scholarly, yet every indescribably stupid thing she says sound like a Derek Zoolander quote.
"Oiy was surpoyzed that the stars weren't paler."
"Sommtoimes it can seem impossabul tyo...trigger creativity. THIS IS THE BIG QUASSCHUN: How dyoo wee myake oursalves cre--[loud sounds of boiling water tap drowning out everything] How dyoo wee
GAT OUTSALVES tyoo...DO sommthing creeyaytive and what does that does that even
mean? This...is sommthing oiy've been thinking about recently...and...oiy dyon't have an awwhnser for it? ...Boht...oiy dyoo have thoughts...and oiy...think it has sommthing tyoo dyoo with...
toiyme."
Because Ruby's videos are all just a predictable assembly line of cliches at this point, she naturally starts quoting WROYTAHS to try to prove whatever point she thinks she's trying to make about whatever she's babbling about. "Neil Gaiman wonce wryote..."
"Tyooday, howavver, was SLOIGHTLEE different...to whan...oiy...yeeshully sit down and wroyte sommething. BECOZZ...oiy was taking the advoyce of JAY DEE SALINGER. At least...oiy
think it was him...[Triumphant music plays]"
Apparently J.D. Salinger may or may not have encouraged writing things just to burn them to focus on "the pro-
sass" and not the "
dass-tinayshun".
Ruby writes a poem just to burn it, which is something she should do with all her creative projects, but then she
stores the ashes in her room. Ruby somehow believes that burning another of her
bull poems about the weather and seagulls was such a profound loss to the literary world that she needs to put it in a little urn on a shelf to mourn this tragedy.
And then she uses these ashes to paint a picture, to channel this literary loss into a wonderful new creation - a creative reincarnation, "loiyke a phoenix".
Umm...well, that looks about on par with the quality of her poetry. It's like if a
curd was reincarnated as a darker, more worrying
curd.
"Oiy...want tyo laahrnn and oiy want to gat batter."
My favourite part is when - in this video that's supposed to be about "making room for boredom" - Ruby says she was getting distracted by her phone and this is simply unacceptable. People aren't allowed to enjoy their free time, apparently. She flips her phone over to hide the screen, but that's not enough to shield herself from the horrors of unproductiveness, so she picks her phone back up just to angrily smash it against the kitchen table, because that's totally normal.
But the footage she chose to show on her phone is unintentionally hilarious...
Not to worry, Ruby, I have the same reaction of horror and disgust when seeing Jack Edwards.
What a meandering mess of toxic productivity nonsense and undeclared ads this video was and what a pathetic and empty life she's living.
