She is definitely underweight and has some physical signs of malnourishment, and what she posts suggests disordered eating and an obsession with food. Whether she has an eating disorder to diagnostic levels of mental illness is impossible for us to say but it looks like it.
She is thin and petite but it’s debatable whether or not she is actually underweight. Personally I’ve never thought she looks clinically underweight. She has bad eating habits and a food obsession but these may be related to wider obsessive behaviours rather than specifically anorexia.

I suspect Ruby's had some sort of psychological dysfunction her whole life and has never gotten the treatment she needed because her parents are careless. And lazy. Ruby was a proper little student and so they didn't bother to pay attention to whether she was growing into a sound person. It was easier to keep coddling her than to address the question of why she needed so much coddling in the first place. Now they're stuck with her, and she sure isn't getting any better.
I think Ruby has some ADHD traits (not saying she has the actual condition, sometimes traits just emerge due to never developing real productivity skills). She was probably clever enough to coast along doing busywork during childhood without dealing with it but as uni work got harder it became too much for her to bare. She is a massive procrastinator, and uses busywork and silly tasks to delude herself into believing she’s working hard. She also has no attention span, she desperately wants to be a bookworm but can’t finish complex books and struggles to get through movies. She also has obsessive tendencies and this includes her social media addiction. It’s a stressful way to live. On top of this she has anxiety which has led her to socially regress. She might not have any real diagnosable “mental illness” or condition per se but just a lack of coping skills which she’s never tried to combat.

I think this is a slight overreaction😄 I dislike Ruby and her family but there’s no evidence of them abusing the dog (Lola I think is her name), dogs bark and howl at random things - yes she could’ve filmed at another time or told the dog off - but I don’t think the dog being loud equals to neglect. I grew up with GSDs who frequently would bark at nothing, it’s a common thing for dogs to do. I’m guessing the dog was downstairs with her parents and possibly the dog could’ve saw something outside in the garden?
i was not 100% serious OF COOOARSE. i was purely stating this as a viewer of her videos - thet the howling was unsettling as it went on and on for several minutes. i was also a bit extraggerating with the animal protection service. i would not say they are abusing the dogs, i know dogs are sometimes very vocal about whatever bird they see outside lol. but it was not pleasant to hear them bark for several minutes, although knowing how lazy ruby is, i know it would be a bit too much to want her to reshoot/wait a bit until the dogs stop with their business.

She reads everything with the same OIY'M AMMA WATSON, OIY AM mangled accent, in the exact same tone, with the exact same pensive cadence and faux-wistful intonations. Always fake-smiling her way through it, chuckling slightly as she approaches the end of every sentence and shaking her head and waggling her eyebrows like she's remembering her time with Heathcliff and Cathy because oh, what a characters they are according to Sparknotes! You can actually hear her doing a fake smile/wistful chuckle at the end of every sentence.

But if she thinks it's A VARRY SERIOUS part, there will be no smiling, only deathly HOW DAHHR YOO glares. But her overall tone stays the same.

And, of course, it's all just a MISPA TEENA ad.
The waggling eyebrows and gurning facial expressions...ugh and the chuckling. Lol I bet she does actually just Sparknotes all the classics. There is no way in hell she actually read Wuthering Heights.

Yeah she is pretty much one-note in her recitations. Except for that Night Before Christmas recitation where she got way too excited and fucked up the 'snyowbylow' line 🤣

It's only a matter of time before she ruins every book you've ever loved. Nothing is safe. One cannot sleep soundly at night knowing Ruby is out there, reading the Wikipedia summary of Moby Dick, or Googling "Anna Karenina spark notes", or God forbid reading a children's picture book adaption of Hamlet. She could be pretending to read Pride and Prejudice as we speak. She might LARP as Miss Havisham tomorrow and Dorian Gray the next day. Don't let your guard down. Not even the Bible is safe from this ruthless monster.

Right this moment she may be writing a 1 star Goodreads review for Les Misérables because there weren't as many miserable lesbians as the title suggests, and because the naughty thief man should be an antagonist rather than a protagonist- but overall it was a wonderful novel about World War II. Her Cosette cosplay with of course include a beret.
Oh god no. Please not Anna Karenina. Not Great Expectations either. Lol @ your Les Mis review à la Roob

I am wondering what she thought about Spare, I like to imagine that she was rather horrified reading about Prince Harry's frostbitten todger or do you think that she skipped the bits and pieces that are more adult themed 😂
Bet she'll never look at Mama Granger's 8 hour cream in the same way again

I’m sure I’m giving Ruby too much credit by even thinking this thought, but what if she’s sticking with Ruby Granger for social media so her profiles won’t show up if her students/colleagues/the admissions office at Oxford google her real name? When you google Ruby Bones, the only thing related to her that shows up is her LinkedIn profile (although of course google suggests “Ruby Bones Granger), and while she mentions her yt channel on there, she doesn’t mention the name of it.

So Ruby gave us a mixed review on Bewick's British Birds yet on Goodreads she gave it a 4 star, I swear her reviews on Goodreads don't make sense sometimes as before she has said that a book was good yet she gives the book a bad review.

She's been struggling for an identity (first Hermione, then english literature student, now writer) but continues to regress, to the point where a small, short gathering with friends over the holidays in London gave her a panic attack.
It's the product of a young woman who has never been told no or pushed outside her comfort zone, or pushed herself outside her comfort zone.
What you say about her struggles around identity, its very true. She has said that she has a problematic relationship with the idea of growing up from childhood into adulthood. Her academic brand is based around Hermione, who Ruby has now passed in age. It seems challenging for her. She hasn't learnt to drive a car, she is afraid to be home alone, she had a panic attack when with a small group of friends. I think she struggles to leave her comfort zone, which for now is her home and childhood bedroom. Her recent content was filmed in her parent's RV for heavens sake. Sad.

i wonder why she's introduced as youtuber and entrepeneur, and not by her academic achievements like the other participants
most of them were related to religion and theology studies, so i guess they choose her because she took one year of philosophy and theology and despite she never finished that undergraduate, they thought she would fit in -which she didn't-, but her education is never mentioned in the panel, unlike the other members
also most of them seem to be related to king's college london somehow, why did they choose ruby then? it's just very weird

To echo what's been said before...I am still baffled why she would read whilst brushing her teeth.

Also her hair needs a cut. It looks dreadful. Just needs a good trim!!!!!!!!!

I'm sure she's mentioned Jane Eyre before and didn't like the ending because Jane got married? I think she'll have much more of a struggle with Wuthering Heights but I also think she'll want to say she likes it because the nature and the moors fit with the image of herself she tries to curate.
She's not a fan of Jane Austen for the same reason.

Apparently she has read wuthering heights recently, she gave it 3 stars on goodreads. which is generous considering it's ruby

I remember in a q&a or assumptions video I think? She stated she was interested in a Cambridge masters so I wouldn’t be surprised if she’s applying to it still alongside Oxford which is just further adding to her stress. I think it’s pretty safe to say that any other unis she’s possibly applied to apart from Oxbridge are all RG unis relatively near her. Wouldn’t be shocked if she’s applied to Exeter again as a ‘back up’ too
I've heard that Cambridge has a slightly higher acceptance rate than Oxford with regards to Masters. Not much higher though.
Only snoop on here but the Oxford masters is confirmed, I highlighted in red😂 *act surprised* I’ll probably cry laughing if she gets rejected again.

I can't believe she annotated the top part with 'wonderful when you read these. It reminds one how human, and similar people in the 16c are'. Girl, what?? So is she saying that people in the 16c were all human and similar? And how wonderful it is to be reminded of that? If I was interviewing her, my follow up question would be, 'so, why is it wonderful to remember that?'

The faux freckles give her an even more youthful appearance which all adds to her aesthetic and uncomfortable desire to be perceived as a 14yo.

I naturally have freckles and you can’t even see them right now apart from on my arms (which Ruby conveniently seems to have freckles ONLY on her nose😂) obviously because it’s winter yet Ruby’s are ever so magically pronounced lol. As someone else said, it’s more annoying she draws them on and tries to convince her viewers that they are real instead of just admitting to drawing them on, does she genuinely think all her viewers are that stupid?

I mean the recent makeup tutorial and drawing on the freckles beforehand was just ridiculous. She lives in a fantasy world. I honestly hope wherever she goes for her masters that she quickly realises that she is not the smartest person in her course and needs a reality check that she is simply not that intelligent.

Rolling my eyes at her new TikTok video. She's claiming to have already "read" 9 books this year. Looked at her Good Reads and sure enough...very short books and children's fiction strike again. Also I just don't believe she read all 500 pages of Spare.
100% agree, her “reading” makes me so irrationally angry, especially when she claims to want to do a Master’s degree in literature!

“Spare” is bumping her average book length for the year, but the font is massive and the language simple. So it’s not the same as reading a more challenging 400 page book.

Perhaps the manuscript bit also aroused her interest in this Master's?
The selection committee might be wondering why she would apply to the 1550-1700 course when she's collaborated with the Emily Dickinson museum and has written her undergraduate dissertation on Lewis Carroll.

Some highlights from Ruby's Goodreads friends:
- she follows this Christian girl probably offering books free of adult-themes Ruby loves to gloss over

- At least Blakeney doesn't fall into the trap of filling her profile with things she didn't read:

That little "booklet" she read is more like a pamphlet. Is she seriously going to consider that as a book she has read? omg, talk about desperate measures.

I personally have no interest in reading Spare. Most people didn't know who Megan Markle was until they got engaged and those who did had a poor view of her. Harry would have been better off being a working Royal, imo. He says they left for privacy, then they write a book, make a show, go on talk shows. Where is this private life you so desired? Nothing but a messed up kid blaming everyone for his troubles. Yes, losing their mother was a horrible and traumatic thing. We all remember the tragedy. We never get a chance to forget it. But here in the US, we really wish all the news about both of them would just disappear. There are so many more important things in the world, right now, and as we don't have a monarch, we don't care all that much about what goes on behind closed doors. It sounds like basic family drama, to be honest, and any family can have it. He isn't special in that way. I don't want to hear about anyone's skeletons in the closet or their family drama, so a no read for me.

That being said, I am sure I can imagine some of the subjects that came up, as it has been in the tabloid headlines, and doubt she read every section. Like so many others, I feel like she is just wasting this year off and if she is going to try for Oxford, she sure is going down the wrong rabbit hole.
