  • Is she an idiot? In the summer I have to get up early if I want to go for a run because it doesn't cool down enough until much later, like 9 or 10pm, I feel like this is the kind of thing you should be looking up rather than just going on a run and finding that it's really hot and maybe take some water if you still want to go. But from her vlog, Ruby's runs look very fractured and bitty anyway so hopefully she's not really doing enough to actually harm herself
  • Love that Mother Granger is now inventing fake hobbies and telling Ruby about them to see if she does it - cloudbathing, tick
  • Ruby's schoolmistress attitude towards her dog continues to be grating - Lola clearly letting out energy is "silly" and then Ruby says her name in a stern way. Later, poor Lola is clearly trying to cool down on the sofa and gets pushed out of "Ruby's spot" so she can watch ten minutes of a children's show
  • So much "we like", "we did this" - I know enmeshment is a strong and inaccurate word but Ruby seems to be doing less and less alone, she's merging her activities more and more around her parents
  • That's definitely not 12 year old Ruby in the tie photo because the fringe is grown out
  • She's only been using that exfoliator for five days I think she said but you're definitely not supposed to exfoliate every day
  • She definitely doesn't need to be taking vitamin D in the summer, if you spend even a tiny amount of time outside in the spring/summer you should get your daily recommended dose of vitamin D because there's plenty of sunlight
  • Ruby premakes her breakfast even though she has infinite time in the morning to do it - prodocktive

I hope she knows that too much vitamin D can be dangerous for the body.

Agree with all the points you made, but especially this one! It's so easy to injure yourself when you're beginning. It sounds silly, but there's a right and wrong way to run I'm not a big fan of running (prefer hiking), but know a few people who are into it. I do think Ruby's ''running'' is as performative as her other hobbies though, so doubt she'll get into any trouble.

My God she puts “bookworm” in every title now… it’s really sad because I knew after college she’d have a hard time with content but deadass this and the reading to the dead at Pompeii “bookworm” shit is really showing that Ruby literally has let studying define her

From her recent vlog... She said she started wearing ties when she was 12 bc of this Disney channel show but this doesn't look like a photo of when she was 12.. and if it does, well that's extremely worrying :/
She looks abt 17-18 here when she was pinning her fringe back as it grew out. Probably right before she went to college

Watching the video and it's a good one - and by 'good' I mean 'bad'. I'll do a short recap...

I've been gone for ages because I don't think hate watching stuff is remotely healthy but her newest video popped up in my recommendeds (clearly I am watching the wrong stuff lmao) I had to return specifically because of 'foylage'. Good to know there has been zero character development in the months I have been away. Do we think she might be dyslexic? Because I can absolutely understand how someone dyslexic could mix up "foliage" with "foilage"

Oh also forest bathing is an actual thing, but it doesn't require you to actually lie down in the forest, it's more about walking through nature and being mindful I think. I absolutely do not believe that Ruby knows this though

Is she planning on like… doing something with her life during this gap year? Like maybe get a job or something to work on her interpersonal skills because she is coming across more regressed and immature with each video tbh

I honestly don't think she is planning to do anything with her life during this gap year because imo she just prefers to stay at home. As a result of this it feels like she is doing nothing different as her routines are probably the same everyday and she is not going out apart from her trip to Italy. At the moment it does feel like her gap year has been going on forever because she has no interest in finding a job, that being said I am finding her videos rather boring now as she is doing nothing different in them and is constantly doing routines that consist of the same thing everyday.

I always thought a gap year refers to a year between leaving school and going to uni? Or at least between grad and postgrad. She hasn't said about doing a master's so by gap year does she literally mean taking a year to do nothing before trying to get a job??

She says she’s going to go for a master’s next year, so it’s possible she got rejected by some program this year. She says she’s going to take this year to focus on her wRiTiNg, because being a writer is her new identity.

The video opens with a genuinely pretty shot of the fields around Ruby's house.

Nice to see she's getting lots of mileage out of that drone.

Lucky us: Ruby is working on the STRACTURE of a new book. Is it just me or is Ruby writing a 'new' book every time she uploads a video?

At 1:36-1:37 there is a very unsettling jumpy edit. Just warning you all about that. If I had to describe it poetically, I'd say it sounds as if Ruby has opened her mouth and her words have fallen down the stairs after Mother Granger.

Ruby is wearing her Bite-Back T-shirt again. It's the conservation charity that flogs a lot of merch but doesn't seem to do much IRL. However, Ruby tells us that they 'work with sharks' which is nice of them. I always support inclusive office spaces.

Ruby appears in front of the camera, wagging her finger obnoxiously. ''It's really rather hot'' she pants. ''But not as hot as I thought it would be!'' she adds. Confusingly, this implies that Ruby believed it would be even hotter than 'rather hot'. So...very hot? but still decided to go for a run.

''I ended up lying down in the FOYLAGE.'' It's clear that Ruby means foliage, but she really does pronounce it FOYLAGE. Timestamp is about 2:50 if you need to hear it for yourself. She says it so confidently, too.

So, Ruby has chosen to run in the evening because it's cooler, but she's actually finding it rather hot, despite thinking that it would be even hotter. The water bottle she carries everywhere is absent from this one scenario where she might actually need it. In a state of dehydration-induced delirium, Ruby decides to lie down on a bed of insect infested leaves (or FOYLAGE) because her mother told her about something called 'cloudbathing'. I believe Ruby means 'forest bathing' or shinrin-yoku, a practice that originated in Japan but has become trendy in the UK. Of course, Ruby gets it wrong and tries to bathe in the clouds rather than the forest.

Woodland Corpse Ruby is thankfully a short-lived segment of the video. Soon, she's up and running like a maniac again.

Dog Granger - best of all the Grangers - pops up again. I think she's doing cloudbathing.

Ruby has a shower and then heads outside to do yoga - another of her mother's suggestions. Ruby says she hasn't done yoga for ages, so it's not a typical part of her routine...except for all those videos where she claims to do yoga every single day as part of her daily routine. I'm confused too.

They eat a bunch of picnic-y foods that I can't be bothered to screenshot. But then, horror! Ruby crunches some chocolate close to the camera. It might be an attempt to shoehorn ASMR into the video, but it sounds as though her teeth are cracking.

Ruby finds Dog Granger resting on the sofa. ''Lola, you're in my spot,'' she complains, channelling Sheldon Cooper. After shoving Lola off the seats, Ruby and Mother Granger watch Malory Towers. Is it just me or have they been watching this series for at least a year? Does it ever end?

Ruby's started talking about how 'we' like this and 'we' do that, as though her family are one big hive mind. Here she says that they (Ruby & Mother Granger) like to have peppermint tea before bed. There are more gross chewing sounds.

Ruby then talks about a Disney channel show that I've never heard of - apparently it's the one that caused her to start wearing ties? (Sidenote: I find it strange that she claims to only watch half a movie in the evenings.) This segues into an ad for NordVPN. I skipped that bit.

I skimmed through her skincare routine but paused because she's doing that annoying reading-while-brushing thing again. It looks like a great way to get flecks of toothpaste and water on your book. Ruby tells us she's reading Friends Like These by Meg Rosoff but says nothing about its content or whether she's enjoying the book.

Ruby shows us her supplements.

*Should point out that iron and vitamin d supplements should be approached with caution. Iron is mostly harmless because supplement doses are low, but there's no need to take vitamin d unless you have a deficiency. Both are a waste of time unless you need to take them. I recommend getting a blood test and finding out for sure. End of PSA.

My favourite part of this video is where she admires the stars and the obvious looming UFO. It's like that scene in a movie where the abductee is lured out into the cornfields, hypnotised by the bright flickering lights. Ruby being Ruby, she decides to walk outside like a zombie to take a look. Pretty sure she's wearing pyjamas at this point, so the whole section looks like a sleepwalking montage.

I loved this shot at the end of her video. The boater is on the corner of Ruby's bed, not her head, but I had to double-check just to make sure Ruby hadn't gone totally barmy and started wearing hats in bed.

If only you put as much effort into editing your videos as you put into altering your thumbnails and titles, Roobee.

Dog with a Blog is on the UK Disney Plus. This is a stupid way to come into a VPN Sponsorship. I know its only recently been added to the UK, but can't she choose something that really isnt accessible over here?

Also, who calls a living room a 'snug'. I never heard this before...

That still of her lying in the woods is hilarious. Really sums up Roob’s mental state after graduating.

I think she calls it a snug because in rich peoples homes, they tend to have a ‘main living room’ which they go into when they have guests over, and then there’s the ‘secondary living room’ which is a smaller living room which they use for themselves, which I’ve heard be referred to as a ‘snug.’

In the older pubs in Ireland (not too sure about the uk) where the ground floor was converted into a pub the snug is a cosy living room area, there’s still one in my dads local.
@Cornbread2 posted at the same time, very different meanings between neighbouring countries

I think this is right. It's a posh person thing.

It is a posh person thing - my parents are having their house redone because it’s slowly falling apart, and the architect (this is in Surrey) insists on calling the front room a snug. This is a woman who also once said “I really don’t think I could live without a wood burning stove”. My parents are both Northern, so didn’t raise us to be posh brats, and I had to actually leave the room when she said that lol posh people are weird

The only time I’ve ever heard someone refer to a room as a ‘snug’ is on the show Escape to the Country .
I think it’s just like an extra front room that some rich mofos have in their houses.
