Why do 4 people need such a big fridgeThere was a video a while back where she was organising the fridge at home that struck me as odd. Firstly, she was creating labelled places in the fridge for food which seems very rigid - I’d hazard a guess that most people don’t buy the same stuff often enough to justify that. Secondly, there was no sound in the video but her body language, when people were getting in her way whilst she was organising, was quite stressed-looking. It just seemed quite controlling and inflexible. My relative can be like that and also has issues with food and eating, they have a very small list of ‘safe’ foods and struggle a lot with flavours and textures.
I think from the glimpses we've been shown they have a lot of fruit and veg. They're all veggie I think so I imagine a lot of their shopping goes in the fridge rather than cupboards? Still quite excessive though, especially considering they all eat the same dinner and Ruby only eats bland porridge with frozen blueberries for brekkieWhy do 4 people need such a big fridgeand they have another fridge next to it
I live in a small house with only a tiny and very specifically-sized fridge space, so I have major envy of Ruby’s fridge, even if my catering background shudders at how it’s arranged. I genuinely do spend time watching cookery programmes and lusting over other people’s domestic appliances. Nigella’s kitchen is incredible and a previous series she had some £25k Italian fridge-freezer that was bigger than my kitchen ... Sigh ...Why do 4 people need such a big fridgeand they have another fridge next to it
Sorry, this is totally unrelated to your point but in that video she introduces a new puppy and says her name is Otto (?) but I have never heard of this dog before, I thought they just had Margot and Lola. I’ve been thinking about her having a learning difficulty for awhile as she reminds me of people I’ve taught in the past! I don’t know what the rules allow about this but I would agree with you and the OP too!I agree with this - I think she has high functioning autism, or perhaps aspergers. I could well be wrong but the need for routines, the fact she seems to struggle maintaining friendships / displaying annoyance and disapproval at behaviours of others, fear of behaviours e.g. thinking someone’s always trying to break in, focused obsessions e.g. constant hand washing, desire to be Harry Potter characters, not coping well with the transition to becoming an adult and always stating she still very much wants to be a child... it does have me thinking. I think seeing her in tears over the seminar where she couldn’t find the book / people had discussed points she wanted to mention really resurfaced this thought for me... Especially as autism is largely undetected in females in comparison to males...
Also, the book writing video... I found it quite difficult to hear her talk about the countryside. It upsets me how sheltered she really is...coming from a city area and seeing peoples experience of the lock down, loads of families sharing a single room, no access to the garden etc, then she demands she would never want any different. I know Ruby can’t help her background but hearing her spout on about blackberry jam and romanticising every little part of her day for inspiration... she lives a very idyllic lifestyle - I think she’ll really struggle without her incredibly crafted and protective bubble. I think she’d really benefit from solo travelling, she really needs to open her horizon and have a better understanding of differences on a human level...
i wonder the same about her parents, i struggled a bit at uni because of my mental health and stress, and my mum and dad were always checking in on me to make sure i was working in a healthy way and looking after myself first. a lot of the time i wasn’t, but the point is that they were aware of my behaviour and intervening when necessary when it was clear i wasn’t doing well. idk how they haven’t noticed that in Ruby and done something to help her, everyone on her life seems to just let it be when she clearly needs help. even little things like telling her to come away from her work in the evening and sit with the family for a bit, or doing literally anything else away from that deskI was 26 when I was diagnosed as having mild Asperger's ... and it's probably classed as mild because I have put coping mechanisms in place. I struggle to watch Ruby as I see a number of Aspergers traits in her. I can't watch films/TV shows with people with Asperger's in them, it really annoys me for some reason. And on reality shows I can spot someone with an Autistic Spectrum Disorder a mile off.
Conversely, though, I enjoyed uni and did better there than I did at school.
I'd love to know what her parents say to her in private. Surely they must realise her lifestyle is not healthy?
I really think that was because Blakeney wasn’t moving in till the next day and she couldn’t face spending the night alone in the house.When her dad went to drop her at the house before fall term she and her dad just carried her things in and immediately went to go surfing and camp instead of just saying goodbye there.

technically 'alcohol' is the group name for methanol, ethanol, butanol, etc. (all alcohols in the chemical sense), and they tell you in chem class to be specific which alcohol you're talking about. but since ethanol is the only alcohol we drink (and like... not even pure ethanol) it's just stupid to label it "ethanol".I went back to watch this, I don't think I'd seen it before either. If I were her parents, I'd just tell her to shove everything in (food hygiene accepted) - it's wasting time doing a long-winded system for something like that. I remember this, she used to write letters to her all the time.Bit of topic but does anyone else remember Ruby being friends with another girl called Ruby and they were both really into Hermione Granger?
Always wondered what happened to their friendship as she never mentions her now.
