Saw her 10,000 word video and I had to comment to let her subscribers know that it's okay to not be able to write as much as she does and that quality is a lot more important than quantity. Also, how strange is it that she wants to romanticize everything? Reminds me of Unjaded Jade's weird casual magic thing.These study tubers are really living in very privileged and sheltered worlds.

This is a big pet peeve of mine, sorry to all those who aren't really bothered but it drives me mad that Ruby is just chilling there with her nail polish half gone and the rest of the polish clinging for dear life. Please wipe those off oh my god 
I noticed this too. I’ve studied creative writing and my course had bestselling authors talking about their writing process. Even they tend to spend a while planning and then write around 1500 - 2000 words a day. Ruby said that she’d written 10,000 words in a day, they must be not be of the highest quality. It’s crazy.
The romanticisation of everything has always bugged me, but it reached another level when I saw the comments on the 10,000 words video. So many people (I’m guessing a lot of them kids) saying how amazing they think it is that she can romanticise anything. No! I’ll admit I’m probably too much of a cynic, but it concerns me that there are potentially lots of kids now trying to adopt Ruby’s view of the world. Romanticisation is fine to an extent, but only if you’re capable of still understanding the reality (which I’m unconvinced Ruby does). I hope this doesn’t encourage young kids to start completely rejecting reality in favour of some weird daydream
I‘ve tried to read my bool this morning while brushing my teeth... and I spent about twice as long doing so because I was distracted and felt like I didn‘t clean them properly. I don't understand how she can do this daily (?)

Her ”method acting” approach to writing is hilarious, no wonder she gets so many words written. I imagine 60 % of them are adjectives that describe how she’s fEeLiNg. After all, if writing is self-expression, then isn’t just expressing how you’re feeling all you need to do? (Also reminds me of her criticism of Austen, the writing is too plot-driven and there’s not enough feeling!
)I hope she gets an editor this time around, because I will bet you a moderate number of frozen blueberries that those 10,000 words are absolute slop.
the one thing i’m confused about is how in her routines there’s no phone. now if she really doesn’t go on it i’m super jealous, because i admit i’m always on it. i tried reading first thing when i woke up. but i just couldn’t. whenever i wake up i get plenty of emails from my tutor about upcoming lessons or important emails, and the group chat is always full of texts. i can’t read and ignore them, obvs she might not get all those emails and such, but i’m always checking my phone throughout the day for my uni work/course. i don’t know if anyone else feels the same lol, but i’m jealous of her if she manages to just ignore her phone.
i agree i used my phone all the time for uni (timetable, emails, notes etc) and if i went a day without it i’d miss so much! she’s so dedicated to living out this old fashioned aesthetic dream where everything is hand written and rustic and lovely but she for sure is missing out on stuff. she doesn’t seem to be active in any course group chats which i think is a shame because i found them not only helpful for classes and work, but to feel part of the class and socialise just that little bit with your peers

What gets me about her book writing video is that her writing style is really romanticised. Especially when her target audience is for people in that sort of Year 5 - Year 8 age bracket. I don't know about everyone else but I honestly wouldn't have had the attention to read something so boring and mundane at that age.
The other thing I don't understand her obsession with christmas although that may be because I'm from the southern hemisphere and our christmas traditions are so different.

I know she was busy with uni last month, but surely her video would've been more appropriate for NaNoWriMo, which focuses on writing as much as you can in a month. Also really annoys me that she keeps calling it a middle grade book. We don't have middle grade in the UK??
Same. She seems to have great focus unless it's completely edited, I am so jealous because when I faced the amount of time I spend on my phone I was horrified and frankly amazed that I can still get my work and daily things done when I'm practically glued to that screen all day long.
The fact that her approach to writing is such a romanticised view of the author as an emotional genius to whom the text comes to through emotions as opposed to someone who has their craft and puts work into making it the best they can might actually explain why her writing (in the case of Erimentha for example) is...quite poor. Because the reality is that we've long moved past this idea of the 18th century romantic genius who just writes whatever the duck they feel and gets into a method acting mode of it. More often than not in today's writing landscape, or in art in general, feeling still matters but what matters also is taking your craft seriously, which means putting in lot of work besides just your emotions. So no, it is not enough to just feel and then the writing will just come to you. Writing is HARD WORK.

I for one don't want to read any level of book if its only contents is the written form of verbal diarrhoea.
I'd love to see a video of her writing process. Not a video bragging about how many words she can write an hour and how she has to romanticise every little thing around her (although as she said, it's hard not to 
). But an actual video of her planning process, her thought process, just anything about how she writes that isn't to do with word count.
Does she plan each chapter before writing? Does she plan the ending and let herself write whatever to get to that ending? How much research does she do beforehand, or does she research as she goes? What was the process of self publishing and why did she choose to go down that route (although i'm sure we know why

)? Does she ever find herself straying from her plan?I’m from the UK and I went to middle school! There’s only about 100 middle schools left in the UK so it’s highly unlikely Ruby went to one though! Why can’t she just say YA novel?
I think she acts out her routines, honestly. I don't think she does all of that every day. I believe her routines are what her ideal self would do and she projects that image to her followers.
Middle grade is actually a term used to denote a target audience of a book - YA is for older teens and young adults (obviously haha) and middle grade is ages like 11-14 or something like that. Kind of like Percy Jackson or Harry Potter. They’re a little more advanced than children’s books but tend to steer clear of darker themes (not always but in general) and don’t include things like sex and profanity
