For some reason Ruby using her issue of the New Yorker as scrap paper to introduce new ideas in the video really annoys me. Why not use a blank piece of paper and save the New Yorker issue for rereading? What a waste
In order to reread things, Ruby would have to bother reading them to begin with.

Her obsession with the New Yorker is limited entirely to using it as a prop as part of her nebulous dark academia aesthetic, or just glueing it all over her kitchen cabinets.

Yes! I hate how every time a public person is a bit shy, quirky or awkward, doesn't have a ton of friends and has unique interests, everyone says "I bet they're autistic!"
*sort of off topic but slightly related to Ruby- I've never posted here before but I've been lurking for ages. Also I know I'm like 10 pages behind but I'm only catching up now and I wanted to respond*

Oh my god YES. As an autistic person (who only recently started being more open about it) I've always heard "they must be autistic right?"- but the minute I said that I was autistic I'd just be told that I'm just shy/introverted/anxious/antisocial and that I couldn't POSSIBLY be autistic.

One thing that I have noticed about Ruby is the more I watch her videos.. she just seems more and more.. fictional. Like we all know she's basically living in her own dark-ACADAYYYMIA, cottagecore, "slow living" (side-note can someone explain the concept of slow living to me, I've only heard it from Ruby and I just don't understand what it's about) bubble, and then there's the lying but even then.. idk, maybe it's all the twirling around in fields or something??

How the hell are candles 'back to school essentials'??
I know right? Has she heard of desk lamps? You know, that thing her sister gave her for Christmas because she wanted Ruby to stop studying at candlelight like a weirdo and ruining her eyesight?

Idk if it's just me, but she also always adds notes to her books and textbooks in pen, and highlights the hell out of them and watching this makes me so angry

One of the other things which Ruby does that irritate me a lot is how she brews her tea, she is a self-proclaimed tea lover, studies CEREMONIES of how to prepare it, yet she is always seen brewing tea with boiling water, and just pouring it in the kettle and letting the loose leaf tea sit in there?? That's not how you are supposed to do it Roobee you are just drinking bitter water girl

This annoys me so much those books aren't cheap.
I donated my first year books to the university who gave them to someone that was struggling financially
There's no way they could do that if I had scribbled all over them

her raspberry jam IG post is an old picture. She's not even trying anymore

And when she uses tea bags, she just leaves the bag in the mug for what seems like several months.

I was about to post that and say if she doesn't look sick to her diehards idk what to tell them
EDIT-Whoops, was meant to be two separate posts

Also I know a lot of you here pointed out the bull in her story time video, but can I just say she looked glowing in that video compared to this

I keep posting this as separate but it keeps quoting sorry! Oh well

Ruby doesn't even make her videos for anybody except herself, in my opinion. All she does is more and more of the same exact videos saying 'you need to do lists, it's good to have a walk, here's all my stationary I showed you 10 times before!'.
For crying out loud, in her new video, I can't believe she even had to say 'it's important to do things OTHER THAN ACADEMICS'... EVERY single time it just feels like her ideal audience is....well, herself. She is probably one of the only people who sits at home doing nothing but studying, yoga and walks - this is presuming she isn't putting on a persona.

Of course, a lot of people will like the same 'aesthetic' she does (i.e, victorian times, vintage things, etc) and of course she has made videos on how to reduce social media time but... I feel as though Ruby has lots of things she could be creating:
FAQs about university
How to handle the transition from A-Level difficulty to University (she has sort of included this in a video before, but I think it would be great to make another fully focused video on it! It would be very popular to make at this time of the year.)

If she was honest about the books she actually read and not just skimmed through or read summaries of, she could even make videos about books that simply just didn't interest her / a video on how to get through books which seem like a bore at first.

100%, she doesn't really address her audience unless she's selling something right? Sometimes I do wonder is she intentionally making the same video over and over again (not in the sense that she's reusing footage, but in terms of the actual video topics) or does she genuinely think that she's coming up with new ideas, does Ruby ever even mention upcoming videos, videos that have been suggested or anything like that? I know not every youtuber takes that approach but I just found it a little odd. (Maybe she does mention this stuff and I just don't realize it..)

She can never just admit to using things intermittently, or when she feels like it. She could've said that she used note flags for certain books, when she feels like it, when she wants to come back to certain things. But instead it has to be the best and most essential study tool that she uses religiously and all the time. I'm using your example of the note flags but really, this applies to the majority of what she talks about. It's pretty bold, when there's so many years' worth of recorded evidence that just contradicts her.

She's never interacted with her audience at all. Only recently she has started to heart and reply to some comments. Not that her comment section is interesting to interact with. For a studytube channel that should attract analytical and thoughtful individuals, the lack of depth in her comment section is baffling. Apparently all everyone has to say is "Great video, love you Ruby ♡" under every single video.
Whenever she makes a video that people might react negatively to (like her birthday/Christmas hauls for example) she uses the fact that it was highly requested as an excuse but I don't know who is requesting those videos. I've literally never seen a comment on her Youtube channel requesting haul videos.

A lot of her comments just talk about how she is 'so much like Hermione! She even has the same voice as Emma Watson!' as if Ruby isn't partially doing that on purpose and as if 'Granger' is her actual name ahahha
I did actually used to not realise it wasn't her name, though, I just thought oh wow what a coincidence

How can she still have all of those followers? Some other youtubers who put up much better content (Lydia Violeta for example) have less than half of her followers, which doesn't make sense

I had a scroll through her website and saw the description for “Mina’s meal planner” - is it just me who finds it bizarre that there is no mention of this being a collaboration, or even specific mention of who Mina is?

It’s as if she just expects people to know, but what if someone found her website who isn’t a diehard follower of hers on social media?

The product/description itself also feels very clunky and not at all connected to the rest of her site. Right down to the fact it’s italicised - is that code for “collaboration?” Perhaps the code on her “master” to do list can tell us!

The final line also got me… it feels so random! For starters, surely the product dimensions should be front and centre, not phrased as a “also” afterthought. As for the “so sustainable” part… tell me that when you stop buying a new backpack every half term.

Yup. She just never considers that other people with diverse interests exist, and she has nothing going on in her life and her bizarre idiosyncrasies never change, so her content is a byproduct of her narcissism. Everything she makes is presented as if everyone in the world is just as weird and inept as her.

And it's not even like she's making content she wants to see herself either, it's just an assembly line of the same thing over and over, She has no interest in being a content creator, she just likes the money that comes with it.
Not just you, I mentioned the same thing when it went up. It's bizarre. There was never any mention of Mina's surname or a link to her socials either on Ruby's Instagram or Pumpkin Productivity's site or Insta page (I think the only link to Mina ever put up was an Insta story buried in amongst Ruby's usual bullshit that was naturally gone in a day).

Unless you were already familiar with her, you'd have zero clue who she is or why she's supposedly an expert in food planning. It's terrible business publicity all around. I don't know why Mina agreed to it - she has her own store and gets more viewers than Ruby, so why she'd opt to do this is odd.

It absolutely makes sense knowing Ruby though. She hates other people getting the spotlight, and Mina Rome consistently gets more views than her, so it would not shock me at all if she passed over copy for the website that make it impossible to see who Mina is or divert viewers to her. It's the same mentality that causes her to edit out or talk over everything Blakeney has to say in videos, or avoiding commenting on or liking any comments that compliment Blakeney but rushing to heart comments complimenting herself. She wants all the attention. Pure narcissism.

This! All of it! Yes!

Considering she is sooo into academia, I am so underwhelmed with the fact that she mostly used old footage and just did a very monotoned, unenthusiastic talk-over, as opposed to her younger days where you could tell she was both excited and apprehensive about starting a new year. Those butterflies in your stomach as you head out to a new set of classes, professors and experiences, not knowing what awaits you...all of that was completely missing. Nothing really made sense, her choices were hardly what I would consider essential, and the entire video was rather like her mother's slapdash attitude. Apparently the apple didn't fall far from the tree!

She is also extremely messy, for someone who is supposedly so into lists and notes, stationary and revision. Her messy handwriting, her horrible underlining, her haphazard tabs. What a mess she makes. During all these years, in all her free time of finding ways to fill her hours up, why didn't she learn to be neater, write more clearly, underline straight or use an index card or ruler to keep it nicer, colour-code tabbing like you see in so many YouTube videos. No wonder she has to study so much to make any sense out of her sloppy notes.

Exactly, Youtubers like Ruby are always temporary. 50+ videos on the same topic have nothing to do with creativity or even effort when she only uses material from her old videos and even copies her own content over and over again. I wonder why she never actually makes videos on how to learn effectively. How to get very good grades, which learning methods are really very good, how to remember the material very well, how to formulate very well, how to answer beyond the question and find a deeper meaning. Because she can't. Ruby is a student who can achieve good to very good grades with very very much effort, but without really thinking about it herself. You can of course read and copy internet articles from any question and you will get good marks for it if you do it well. But university means finally learning how to make things up for yourself, or learning how to draw your own conclusions. But we will have to wait forever for such videos.
