in her new video she goes on about sustainability but doesn't buy a refill for her zebra sarasa pen??? she said she 'used it up', she didn't lose it so why not buy a refill instead of a whole new pen???
She also goes out of her way to use endless amounts of paper just for blotting ink, typing random bullshit on a typewriter, and for her numerous redundant planners when she has multiple digital options for writing, planning and note taking available and uses them all for the same purpose anyway.

She proudly buys a bunch of disposable pens immediately after supposedly buying fountain pens to avoid wasteful writing tools.

This entire video is yet more proof that she has no clue what sustainability means and doesn't really care about being insanely wasteful, she just says whatever random shit she thinks will fit her manufactured personality without backing it up with actions. She's the poster child for entitled, braindead stupidity.

Guys I'm confused...
Why is she making excuses for not reading The Song of Achilles? She did say in her IG story that she doesn't like it, doesn't understand the hype around it. And now she says she would love to read it but didn't have a Greek phase?? Did you not have to read the Greek Mythology? It's the basis for human nature is it not?
Fair enough if she started to read it but didn't like it, I was not a fan either. But why say she'd love to read it when she doesn't, and did state this earlier. Maybe she git IG backlash, who knows...

Why TF is she photographing her notes instead of scanning using Adobe or another scanning app?

Oxford paper actually comes with scanning markers now (yes I’m a nerd and wish I’d had this option at university 10 years ago -i didn’t even have a smart phone!)

I've seen her last video and I had to stop at the 1:30 minute. I mean, maybe it's bc I study engineering and it's a different type of studies but how u r supposed to do your work before uni starts if they have to teach u how to do it? and then, autumn it is not around the corner, why she doesn't enjoy spending time without studying? What is she going to do after uni? I can't understand her vision of life...

I will admit to having gone through three gel pen refills (take note, Roobee, refills!) in the past four weeks because I did a thing and read through 16 Shakespeare plays, and the way my brain works is that the things I write down by hand have some chance of sticking in my brain and the rest... not so much. However, I’m not necessarily ever going to go back and look at those notes again, because I’m just doing this for fun. If I was a student, I would spare my poor hand and find far more efficient study methods.

Of course if I was doing it Roobee style, I would now go on to rewrite my 70+ pages of notes in rusty dip pen and then write a summary in Notion.
Obviously you'd have written the summaries before reading the plays! And by that, i mean just copy it from the internet and then waste time re-writing them for no reason.

I just saw another video of someone doing a similar "back to school stationary haul" (not Victorian lmao!), but this person actually made a give-away of the items she bought! I find it so odd that Ruby preaches about sustainability and being kind, but she never does this kind of stuff despite the hoards of items she buys/is gifted.

Oh and of course we have the multiple clothing changes. For someone who wants to be kind to the earth and live simply, she sure wastes a lot of water with excess laundry.
No need to worry - I guess when she changes her clothes she simply puts them back to her closet and eventually washes them like once every few months like her bedding  Or like once in 20 years like floor under her bed.

"My yearly planner will now be a super-duper-ultra-most-exclusive limited edition due to the negativity of a select few people in the comments to make sure only the most productive, positive people benefit from it.

The price is £200 and it comes in rustic "autominal" brown, so you can enjoy October no matter the month!

Features include:
  • Pre-torn, battle-damaged pages (WWII chic!)
  • Dark academia coffee stains (So aesthetic!)
  • Cryptic puzzle assembly (Can you reassemble the planner's pages in the right order?)
  • Victorian-era shipping speeds (All 2022 planners estimated to arrive in July 2023, for that 'just arrived on a steamer ship several months after posting' nostalgia experience.)
  • Spot the spelling mistakes quiz (Find them all to win the gift of self-satisfaction!)
  • Soiled string bookmark (Sold separately.)
Don't hesitate! Pre-order today! (Pre-orders open in six to fourteen weeks.)"

1. Says that manufacturers make scissors in a way so that you need new ones in 5-10 years and because of that they’re not durable… Idk about you but 5-10 years is durable to me. I’m lucky if I manage not to lose scissors after 2 or 3 years.
i literally still have a pair of scissors i got for Christmas 2003... they're the small pencil case size and got me all through primary school, high school, and university!!!!

I would advise an alcoholic beverage if you’re at all so inclined. I know it’s only Monday, but I wish I’d been prepared.
Did I hear alcohol? Whenever Ruby says "beautiful" (or edit: favourite") one shot! I'm in!

I have a feeling that bowl started appearing recently after we discussed her small portions that you would expect to see in Oliver Twist
She so knows what she is doing. And I actually get really angry with her for it because its SO irresponsible.

I'm not being funny but that courgette needs at least another two weeks of growing. What a waste of a courgette.
Yeah. The flower on it shows that its still not ready. Then when she cut it and took that awkward bite, I could see that it was still not ready.

One thing I have never understood is Ruby's desk. It is small, oddly shaped (I think her father did it?) and messy, with stains, etc.. It isn't a very practical desk for a over-achiever, university student. There is little room to spread things out and even less for storage. Now she has that new chair which is far too low for her and it looks like her chin is the same height as the desk! Now I know why all this excess furniture has landed in her room with little practical purpose. She has to constantly move that table around because it is always in the way. Why not just shove the dang thing into the attic and be done with it....or some other random room in their house? If she has so much money, or her family does, why not splurge and get her a decent desk/work space? I loved my dorm room desk. So wide and deep. I ended up buying a large one that I still own because I like all that space for projects, be it study or art related. I could never work properly at such a confined space as her itty bitty desk. Because it matches that crazy itty bitty random shelf her father recently built? Why?? lol
Ah, but a modern ergonomic desk chair that won't cause chronic back pain and bad posture isn't very ✨ aesthetic✨ though.

Ok. I will make a very bold statement. Whoever would say SoA has a Dark Academia vibe is actually perpetuating the purely superficial idea of „academia“. It‘s like claiming you are into classical music but are listening only to Pop - because some use classical motives or even melodies in the background.
SoA is basically fanfic exploring a same sex variation of an already written story. I am not bashing fanfic here. There is a reason it’s out there and many enjoy it. Some are very original and good. SoA is not. It’s pretty basic in its pursuit of telling „another version of the events“. Circe is a much much better attempt. But I cannot get over using a completely build world for your success. It severely lacks in originality. And that’s all the author has shown for now. That’s what distinguishes a good author from a brilliant one. It will make her money but it will not put her on the classics shelf. Which is fine, but I really don’t get how a pretty elitist subculture (the whole classic/Arts/history/philosophy/Oxbridge culture is feeding on elitist ideas. I don’t dislike it but I get why someone would) would think that’s part of the canon or a good example?
If someone is truly into the academic aspect they would definitely read the real classic version. There are many well done translations that are actually pretty easy to read.
Ruby just jumped on the train. I think she either dismissed it and got backlash or underestimated its success and tries to appear relevant because it’s hyped so much. I doubt she has read it nor will she.
I also think there quite a difference between rl Ruby and yt Ruby. She most definitely plays Ruby Granger up at this point. I also think she is not reading all those books- she is an English Lit - working on her degree. She probably has not that much time for private reading fun. Even Ruby is probably not reading 20+h per day and if she is I think she would read on topic.

Also for anyone else interested, she’s revealed her dissertation topic is Victorian Christmas print culture… could there it be anything more Ruby? I mean credit to her for doing something she clearly enjoys just giving anyone who watched her videos a heads up
Is this relevant to English literature? It sounds like the most boring topic in the world to me lol

I know I'm repeating myself, but I haven't seen anyone with such a sad look.

Aside from the obvious weight loss, she doesn't give off a hint of genuine happiness, which seems to me a clear sign that she should stop with this nonsense about outfits, aesthetics and toxic productivity and concentrate on her own well-being, which is, at this point, clearly damaged.

(edit to incorporate pics): I mean, what's the point? With the money she has earned over the years, the resources she has, etc. she could just stay away for several months and concentrate on her recovery. But she just doesn't. A mystery (or a lot of greed on top of it all...).

I saw her thumbnail pop up on YouTube and was shocked. I’m not quite sure why, as we’ve seen her physical deterioration for a while; but I think it’s because people shared the old video a few pages back. The first photo is from when she started Exeter.

I don’t want to say what she will want to hear if she reads here, so will avoid the ‘C’ word. All I will say is that I deteriorated in a similar way across my time at university and didn’t make it to the end of third year.

Ruby, if you read here. If you truly love study and academia as much as you claim to…. Please wake up. You will not make it to the end of your degree if you continue this way.

In terms of the dissertation, while you do need to submit a proposal in 1st term, I find it odd that she is putting so much focus on that now, as that isn’t a ‘module’ until second term. I was expecting this video to show her prepping for the modules she has first term!

I’m also slightly surprised that she hasn’t picked children’s literature. I swore it was going to involve Alice in Wonderland, or other Victorian children’s book! Especially as I assumed she may be applying for the children’s lit MA at Cambridge…

Would the acting class she took have fit in this time slot? Whatever it was she did, she‘s not pursuing it now. It just strikes me as very strange that she never talks about any hobbies. It’s all studying and compulsive exercise, she doesn’t seem to be doing anything that she wants to get better at or that has a function apart from making her feel productive or burning calories.
Even the things that take up all her time, she never improves at.

Most YouTubers or content creators who've been filming and editing for years naturally get better with time as they get more comfortable, more confident and more skilled at using the creative tools at their disposal, or they experiment with new editing techniques or ideas. Ruby's content isn't just technically as bad as it was when she started, she's gotten even worse creatively, too.

And even with studying, she's never learned to streamline or improve despite numerous obvious setbacks. She just adds new layers to the busywork and messy time-wasting with each passing day.

With exercise, she didn't learn from her mistakes. She injured herself, ignored all medical advice and common sense and injured herself again doing the same thing, then moaned that it was a massive unavoidable burden to her life.

It's almost impressive how stupid and inept she is at everything she does.

I really am passionate about the topics I’m learning about at uni, but COME ON. I’ll start doing my work when and only when classes start again. Summer is meant for chilling and relaxing!
