If you're tested and quarantine appropriately I don't see what's the problem at all!!

She was tested, is quarantining and being tested again! Pretty safe I reckon.
Guidelines are to avoid unnecessary travel. If everyone had your entitled mindset and that of hers, then the cases numbers will continue to escalate even more than they already have.

Even if she (or anyone) did return a positive test, she (or any international arrival) has already strolled through the airport arrival lounge, hung out at a rental car desk and potentially stopped in a shop for food / diesel - how many potential people have they put at risk? Never mind the idiots out there who chose to ignore all the guidelines!!

It's a different story if they were escorted off the plane, onto a bus on the tarmac and straight to a hotel for 2 weeks - managed properly & paying for it out of their own pocket.

Stop being part of the problem.

Yes they are guidelines, not rules. She has done everything properly. Tested before and after travelling. And also how do you know if her travel in necessary are not? She is staying a few months not a short 2 week holiday. People are travelling over and back from the UK all the time at weekends without quarantining. It's about weighing up the risks. She is no risk to anyone.

Also, why would she need to be escorted of the plane to a bus and a hotel?? FFS She doesn't have Ebola like! And if she did , wouldn't that put her in contact with more people? People have literally lost all common sense !

Nobody should be travelling internationally during a pandemic, unless it is an absolute emergency.

If people are travelling over and back from the UK "all the time without quarantining", then they are in complete denial about Covid.

I would have no problem with people travelling as long as they do it safely and I think it's a decision for families to make together if they want loved ones to come home.

Or maybe just listen to what the CMO and medical experts are telling us.

We don't live in North Korea.
You're comparing a dictatorial country, to public health and safety measures put in place to protect the vulnerable/elderly from dying?
I'll stop engaging with you now, because you're either trolling, or have absolutely zero grasp of how serious Covid is, despite being 10 months into a worldwide pandemic, and over 2000 deaths alone in Ireland.

Wise up.

*Tony Holohan, while no angel, is working with a team of public health and medical experts. Any excuse to just ignore guidelines I suppose.

Someone coming home and being tested before travelling and quarantining and being tested again is not putting anyone at risk. Or do you think they are?
Wise up yourself! And fyi I do follow the guidelines myself and I wouldn't travel but I'm not going to judge people who do.

Alright, you're a medical professional - I'm assuming you'd be well aware of false negative results (between 2-29% FN rate in nasal swabs based on current studies, however this data is constantly changing). Based on those stats, I do believe there is a chance (a small chance, but there all the same), that having a test pre-flight, and post quarantine does not completely mitigate spread. So in my opinion, yes, unnecessary travel during a pandemic is putting people at risk.

I'm not going to derail this thread anymore - what are the bets on Kaelin explaining how she got the dog home without claiming to need an emotional support animal?

I have a friend who works in ICU and last week they had to turn off the life support of a young man who caught Covid while travelling.

Also alot of tests can be false negatives, lots of people have had negative test results and then actually had the antibodies in their system.

The point is if you don't NEED to travel then you should just stay put, especially if you're coming from a country that had 200k new cases yesterday.

Yep, can we get back to Joey, is he going to be making a statement? Lol
She’s just said she’s lots of time on her hands!! Come on K, spill the beans. Tell us what yarn you spun to get the dog in the passenger cabin. Erica mentioned in her vlog how icky she feels after flying. yeah, pretty icky if you were sat on a seat where a dog had been for 7 hours on the previous sector. even If it was a service animal, (which let’s face it, it’s not .. They take more than a couple of month to train) it doesnt get a seat. It sits at your feet. Any trying to justify it by saying there was other dogs. They’re 2 selfish spoilt brats

I think they took a big risk going home in terms of...how are they getting back into the US on their visas - anything could change overnight here even before the new President gets in. I think they've a higher chance of being stuck in Ireland than getting Covid. The dog getting to sit up with them in the seats is also a case of different rules for different people. I'd like to hear AL address it but unlikely.

Also, off topic slightly but I want to make the point - I don't think it's fair to say that people shouldn't be travelling, the Irish government has been so vague about people coming in and out since this pandemic started. Close the airports and ye wouldn't have people going home or visiting. Majority of us are not going home out of personal choice but you can't expect people to not go home if airports are open and operating...it's going to happen whether we like it or not. I could have flown home no bother at any point during this pandemic but I didn't and that's my choice.
Asking people nicely and saying well, we'd rather you didn't come but the airports are open if you want to is typical Irish bullshit because they are trying to appease big business people by keeping Ireland open but barely covering their arses by saying please don't come here.
Stop blaming fellow citizens when it's the Government who needs to say yes or no.

The airport has to be open for essential travel. The government have made it clear people shouldn’t be traveling. We don’t have to be spoon fed everything to know it’s wrong.
Anyway I don’t really begrudge everyone coming home, if I lived abroad alone I would probably come home but Erika and Kaelin don’t

Correct me if I’m wrong but I thought they arrived in Dublin airport on Saturday morning? Erika mentioned it was 6am when they were waiting for Joey to be checked.. They both posted earlier today “quarantine day 5” or something along those lines .. so they’re counting time spent on the plane / time difference from nyc as their first day of quarantine?

Anything to make it work in their favour. Very vague about the whole process, as well as the dog fiasco!

I genuinely don't understand why people message a blogger and ask where their Nike jumper is from. It's from Nike, type in black nike jumper and find it yourself!! It's honestly the best buy according to Erica, better than any YSL bag or Valentino boots, so so nice!!
