What was happening there?
In the second one? The cops had caught up with Val and his crew so they needed to get out of the country. Val went to attempt to pick up his wife (Ashley Judd) but she had to signal to him that it wasn't safe to come in because the cops were with her, waiting for him. He just had to turn around and get into his car, knowing that he'd never be able to be with her again. It's an amazing film, with best bank job / shootout scene ever made.
Another one to file under the heading of "Dammit I Feel Old!" Dave Allen, bassist of Gang of Four and founder of Shriekback has died. He had early onset mixed dementia. The Gang of Four farewell tour is going to be on hold now.

For us older Corrie fans John Saint Ryan has passed at 72 from a heart attack. He played the trucker Charlie 'Cowboy' Whelan who was dating Bet but ran off with Tanya. After Corrie, he moved to the US and appeared in shows like Buffy, MacGyver and Babylon 5 and had a ranch where he bred, sold, and trained horses.

He was also a stunt double for Sean Connery.
I know in most cases it's doesn't matter, but he does actually look vaguely like Sean in the picture above.
Colin Farrells father died. He actually was a footballer..
