I’m not Catholic but it seems Pope Francis divided opinion amongst those who are?
He seemed to operate from a place of goodness from what I can tell, but his progressive and inclusive beliefs have upset many?
It will be interesting to watch and see what path the Vatican takes with electing the new pope - move forward on the progressive path, or bring the disgruntled back into the fold.
They’ll definitely step back into the traditional values.Never change much just tweak it up to fit with modern times , core values remain the same.

Well that’s today’s tv sorted; Angels and Demons then Conclave!

*I’m still amazed how Ewan McGregor survived a poked hot branding, hijacked a helicopter , detonated a nuclear bomb, survived that!! then parachuted into St Peter’s Square and nearly became the Pope .

* sorry for spoilers .

I was watching clips from it, and he looked like he was falling asleep at times.
It was like Weekend At Bernie’s at times ! he obviously wanted to keep his terminal diagnosis quiet . Anyone with that much faith wouldn’t be afraid to die.

Not religious at all, but sad to see Pope Francis go, as said above, he was quite a change from papal tradition...being a Jesuit and coming from South America. He seemed a very humble man, despite being the leader of the Catholic church. Read one quote saying he'd be remembered for his kindness to others, especially the poor and disenfranchised - what a lovely thing to be remembered for ❤.

Named after St Francis of Assisi

Just watched the BBC programme on him (airs at 9pm on BBC but already on iplayer). Quite an interesting life and made for an interesting and relatively progressive pope.

I was fortunate enough to see the Pope in 2014 at The Vatican. May he rest in eternal peace.
I was next to a lady with a small baby and the Pope took the child and blessed him, the mother was so overwhelmed

Obv he was really, really ill this weekend so not the same thing, but there was a anecdote he told in an interview where he admitted to falling asleep during prayer, and when the interviewer asked if it was “allowed”, Francis said that fathers always love it when their children fall asleep in their arms. Whether you’re religious or not, Roman Catholic or not, I just thought it was a really beautiful thing to say.

I don’t like the way they’ve placed his hands I prefer them clasped , they’ve obviously got him attached to some sort of structure underneath the robes.

Poor guy. I'm not religious but do think people sometimes hold on for certain events. He obviously wanted to do his job at Easter and then he could go.

Its funny you should say that as when I saw that I thought the same because for some reason they couldn't get my late mother's hands to clasp and they ended up being much like the way the Pope's are.

Yeah it’s like a tradition having them clasped around the beads ,his right hand is levitating .I’m sure they can manipulate and use tools to achieve a better look.
