Have listened from the days where they had to literally contort themselves into cardboard boxes /makeshift sound proof props. They have definitely gonna downhill. The book was a money grab to begin with. Sruthi has always come across as a snooty mae made bearable by the fact that the focus was on the cases and less on her or Hannah.

Clearly they’ve achieved a lot of success and I don’t blame them for going after the ££ but the quality of their cases and their retelling of it has gone down.

Casefile is the same, compelling cases told in an interesting and factual way, as soon as Casey and the podcast started to gain more publicity the quality went down hill. Lots of obscure European and worldwide cases with names of victims and perps mangled because he couldn’t pronounce them properly, listeners unable to follow the case because of the sheer number of characters, places and circumstances. Most of them unsolved which you didn’t find out until the end of the episode. Totally unlistenable.

RedHanded has gone the same way with their recent cases. Historical cases that no one asked for, cases that deserved a slighter longer run time crammed into just over an hour, which is then broken up even further with their asides about their travels/education/love lives and so on.

I was hoping that they wouldn't win as well.
Their content is no where near as good as it was. This will only bump up their smugness.

Why do they call him ACDFace? Who cares who Suru is dating? She has a very high opinion of herself. I agree with PP, it is very gross how they constantly brag about holidays when it is all paid for by listeners. And a second property in London?!

My god the episode with the shouty Americans…
It was horrific… you could even hear H&S were over it… they barely even bothered to fake a laugh.
So loud and shouty.. and why is doing a British accent ‘ soooo hilarious’ !?
Please god not another one of these.

Using 'unwoke' is such a bat signal to certain people. No one needs to describe themselves that way unless they're actively feeding into the culture wars.

And I feel like old Suru (or who I thought she was) would understand the original meaning of 'woke' and realise that it doesn't really make sense to use it as a badge of identity.

It was just a warning for people, mostly from minority groups, to be aware of the systems and practices that may be at play against them, so they'd tell each other "stay woke". People might describe themselves as "woke" to say their eyes were open to these things but that's all. It wasn't a personality trait.

Edit: I say minority groups but really it was only used among black Americans. However, that's the basis of the phrase. For oppressed peoples to be aware of the oppression against them.

I don't know why anyone would be proud to be "unwoke" so she doesn't care about social justice and isn't awake to the needs of others? And that's a good thing is it?

I’m so glad there’s a thread for red handed! I used to really like it, however always found Hannah to be an annoying know it all, if something niche came up in one of the cases she would of course have done it herself, or know someone who was an expert in it. I never minded suruthi but I haven’t listened properly in a while so I can’t comment on the ‘woke’ stuff as I never heard her say it.

It’s definitely passed it’s best now, it annoys me when they don’t do ‘true crime’ cases when it’s a true crime podcast - wtf was the Rasputin episode all about?!

Used to like this podcast but agree the fame has gone to their heads. The quality is much less than it used to be and I find them quite insufferable now. Does anyone follow the American podcasts True Crime Obsessed and I think not, and seen the drama that Obsessed Fest caused? H&S were there and chimed in about that. After their take I unsubscribed from their pod and insta etc

Someone has put up a new Reddit room of “receipts” and included an Instagram photo from July that the ex is tagged in of her and Sam at a festival. Remembering Suru mentioned a few months back that Sam went to a festival with his friends for the day and fell off the map, didn’t come home until the next day and wasn’t answering his phone, wondering if it could be the same one.

Poor Suru, how absolutely shit that regardless of what’s happening, it’s all in the public eye.

I listened to a really old episode last night and the girls were soooo different
They were SO GOOD in the past. Even episodes that should be interesting to me I don't find as engaging because they just aren't as good. Maybe it's since they outsourced research and don't do it themselves, it comes across as inauthentic?

Why were you horrified?
So much money....I don't think you should make your living entertaining other people with stories of the worst crimes imaginable. I get why people find these stories interesting (and ofc I have listened in the past!) but them making that much money from murders seems wrong.

I agree with the previous posts, the episodes are so boring now and just seem to be reuploads of ones they’ve covered in the past. I was thinking of being a patron before I found out that it’s not really worth it with the content you get. Also does anyone feel that Hannah seems a lot more quiet and relaxed but surithi is now the one on a high horse about EvEryThiNG and interrupting Hannah constantly? When you listen to earlier episodes Hannah was the one that would but in mid convo about something completely irrelevant but I’m really like liking Hannah now.

I haven't listened to RH in more than a year but I still can't believe she married this guy after all that stuff came out. Is it low self-esteem or just needing to "stick it to the haters"? Surely in the whole of the UK she could find another "tall white guy"???
Hardly a shortage of them, right? Maybe even ones that wouldn't publicly humiliate her? I think she has an unquantifiable amount of internalized racism, and isn't even close to being as smart as she thinks she is.

When she was dating Hannah used to give the guys nicknames based on the info Suruthi shared about them on Under the Duvet. I think his is something to do with him working in film.
They absolutely have high opinions of themselves and think they are way more interesting than they are.
I have finally unsubbed from patreon.

Under the Duvet is just all about their personal lives and mindless drivel they watch on TV (no shame, watch what you like, but I am not interested in a full rundown of 90 day fiancé). Shorthand is boring.

The episodes aren't really good enough for me to pay to listen early and ad free. I can skip the ads.
I agree with a PP about the Rasputin episode. I didn't even listen as it felt like an A Level history lesson.
I regularly stop listening half way through now if I listen at all.

Yeah I listened to the first 150 odd episodes before I fucked it off, fair play their success is quite something but it’s a shame that it completely compromised the podcast (that was excelle& turned them both insufferable.

Hannah in particular is awful. You can just imagine what a weapon she could be if she was drunk & on her soapbox.

Still just about riding that true crime wave with a few others but surely it won’t be more than a couple of years before they check out & start doing other things, professionally or in their own lives.

The intro they’ve put on the last couple of episodes about winning the BPAs is so insufferable to me - they say themselves how smug they feel and I don’t know why they think that’s a flex? Seems like they’re relishing the fact that the other nominees lost more than celebrating their own win, gloating about how even their millions of followers couldn’t get them the win. Sore winners.

Another weird choice for this week’s topic .. don’t get me wrong Grenfell is this city’s greatest recent tragedy and miscarriage of justice but I can’t imagine that many people who listen to a true crime podcast actually really care to listen to over an hour of government failures and class disparity… maybe that’s just me

Who were the originators of “two gobshites laugh at their own jokes while spouting poorly researched/regurgitated opinions about true crime”? Was it My Favourite Murder?

I am listening to the Lynette Dawson eps atm, just while I get ready so not finished yet but I find it odd the way they are just like ‘oh if you want a real overview go listen to teachers per’ every few minutes.

Like why do the case if you’re going to acknowledge that you’re just doing a lazy whistle stop overview and we should go elsewhere for the actual details 🫠
They did this with another one, I cant remember which one might have been the murtagh murders or whatever its called. Just told us to go and listen to another podcast. Righty oh bye then 🤣
