I don't like it when they cover new cases. Most people into true crime would have been one of the "armchair detectives" and we've already read the Reddit threads and social media posts and know everything there is to know about it. It's just boring.

Yeah I agree. They certainly think a lot themselves and act like they're investigative journalists. The 'research' they do is just googling stuff and reading articles or more often than not listening to other podcasts!

In the Delphi episode Suruthi kept saying she'd never seen a probable cause affidavit like that one, as if she's a lawyer who spends her life pouring over them.
It drove me insane. That was the beginning of the end for me. She can't even pronounce the word 'affidavit' properly.

Does anyone remember when they did a full episode on the whitehouse farm murders. It was great! And then about a year later they did another episode on it for an advertisement. That was so random!
I hate the shorthand. I hate seeing in my feed, I wish I could unsubscribe from it.

Suruthi comes from good old middle class Letchworth in Hertfordshire. No idea where she went to uni. She went into event management and somehow had some grand marketing plan for the podcast.

It worked, if they had money behind them I don’t know. Didn’t seem like it from the videos Hannah used to post of the recording in a cardboard box over her head but they did start a Patreon straight away unlike many other podcasts and somehow they even managed to get Colin Sutton on an early episode!.

THEN, they were relatable and talked to people in a way that, regardless of political opinion, made sense to many of us in the middle, sort of adrift..

The promotion started heavily and it became annoying, the first podcast awards made me side eye them, then the begging for money that would have anyone else cancelled started, the shows, the book, every single time they get it wrong, yet always come up roses.

Even this Wondery deal, their Patreon dropped from £59k to £47k but is creeping back up, add in to that the advertising and all the cross platform interviews.... May not be the dreaded MFM or CJ but holy heck are they coining it in, even if they have outsourced all the research (which shows)

The Social Justice Warrior stuff now must be a money spinner though.

Listening to an episode from a few months ago, and the majority of it so far is just H and S talking about all the places they have been and travelled. They just come across as extremely privileged and not relatable. Compared to seeing red with Mark and Bethan. It's not as polished but the two of them are so much more likeable. I think I'd enjoy going down the pub and chatting with them, whilst avoiding H and S who would be one upping everyone else and talking down to them. They used to be one of my top 3 podcasts as well.

Totally agree. Mark and Bethan (literally just started the latest episode) are so down to earth and you just know you’d have a great chat, down the pub with them. Unlike H & S who would just spend the time going on about where they went in their gap yar

I loveeeee that RH has got a thread! I used to love the pod, as back in the day they seemed to cover the less 'well-known' cases and I found it interesting. Now I will dip in and out if I remember to, which is probably once or twice a year? Saw S in a cafe near me a few months ago with her fella, and I couldn't place her for ages, then I remembered lol - she's that true crime girl who thinks she's quite the comedian lol.

What turned me off was partly me just going off true crime (think it might have had its day?) but also GOD these two think they are much funnier than they are ... like, there's nothing wrong with not being funny, you're not comedians, but please don't try and force it jeeeez. Plus I was frankly horrified at much money their Patreon brings in !!!!

It went shit as soon as the American listenership went up & then they won the first award.

Then it became everything it never used to be. Fair play to them for getting the £ and that but it’s a great shame.

I reckon she is still with him, going by all the photos of them and him on her grid. If she is and the Ex (Ayse) actually has proof of her claims then she is a fool. Imagine the self hatred you have to have to stay with a man who does that toyou, as cruel and as awful some of the comments made by the Ex I wonder if there is some truth to them. Mind you with each passing day the Ex is coming across as unhinged and vindictive.

I think the Ex is fixated on Suru rather than the scumbag who has been playing them both, that’s if her claims are to be believed.

Yikes, that Sarah Everard case turned into a real anti-govt tirade from Suruthi there haha. I'm in NZ so we had similar lockdown but with much better results so I'm not sure the impact yours had in the UK but that was a full on blame game. She basically blamed lockdown for why Sarah was murdered

Tbf the lockdown did play a part. It's how he was able to get her in his car... he said she was breaching lockdown rules.
Then our head of the police said "ladies if that ever happens to you, flag down a bus" and we all commented how bus drivers did not have authority over the police. It was a shit show.

As others I got into redhanded during lockdown, something to listen to on all those walks I started right at the beginning when they basically recorded in a cupboard under the stairs. I’ve followed since then but don’t have a subscription (Spotify works perfectly for main episodes and shorthand) but like others the bigger they’ve got the worse the podcast is. It’s like it’s an after thought now rather than the main event. There’s much less deep dive, they used to chat about their take etc which they rarely do now. It seems it’s much more a let’s make as much money as possible. The thing they forget is without the listeners and sign ups they have nothing, new podcasts are released all the time…they are replaceable…and no doubt will be. If anyone is interested in really in depth true crime then Cold is a great podcast but it is one case over multiple episodes. Proper deep dive.

I can't be bothered to have a million apps to listen to podcasts. I listen on castbox, I refuse to move away from it and when podcasts sign deals I just stop listening because I'm that petty. I just like my podcasts in one place

Can't they target their Aussie tour advert to people actually in Australia? I don't know how much longer I can cope with hearing Suruthi say "it is the truth that Hannah speaks" in that annoying way.

I’ve been listening to their old eps lately (I’m talking like ep 26 etc) and Suruthi is like a different (far more likeable person.)

She also seems a lot more interested back then in what Hannah had to say and Hannah seems more confident in them.

I found the Brexit discussion recently very revealing in that Hannah said she disagreed but didn’t want to get into it - it seems like S would now be very hard to have these discussions with. I don’t like to reduce her down to parroting her partner but it does all seem very coincidental that she has changed her views in line with the relationship happening…

Yeah, apparently it's 50K a month on Patreon or thereabouts.

I feel bad for Suruthi and nobody deserves this, but it is a potential consequence when you talk about your life and monetize part of it. She made it public and sadly - if all this is true - is paying a hefty price for it. That said, apparently the wedding is still on so maybe she forgave him. I couldn't.

I feel awful for Suru but if the Reddit is to be believed she’s seen a photo of them together at a festival in 2024 when Suru said he was awol, she’s seen receipts of Uber eats deliveries from
The ex to her home, she’s seen messages between them both and from his mum. If she can accept that and go ahead with the wedding then that’s on her. I do feel that she would maybe be embarrassed and not want to admit defeat? But very sad whatever is happening. I don’t know what the ex thinks she is doing, she’s certainly not coming across well in any of this.

Not sure how much you’d have heard re our lockdown stuff in NZ but basically after lockdown happened, it came out that during the time we were told not to see anyone or have gatherings, our government were having boozy parties in their offices and breaking the rules they had set.

so most of us have a bad taste in our mouth about it, and it aiding in a young girls murder while the people telling us to lockdown were having affairs and parties in their offices didn’t help. I get the anti gov rant.

I cancelled my subscription to them because of Suruthi's politics, and they do talk about political stuff a fair bit. But, regarding this case, lockdown, and police mismanagement were a big thing. There was a vigil held that turned really nasty and the police were very heavy in shutting it down and arresting people for 'breach of covid'.

shocking. Was this the start of being ‘unwoke’? I love how tattle opens my eyes to tossers. I disliked Hannah more than surhthi but I think Hannah might actually be the more reasonable one.

Actually unwoke did seem to start after then. She probably felt like she had been the victim of an attempted cancellation rather than just receiving perfectly valid criticism for really ignorant offensive comments.
I don't know how you can be British and over 30 and not understand the level of hurt and anger using that word in relation to Hillsborough would cause.
They used to joke about being loud confident and wrong as well.

I went off Suru about a year ago and as much as i love messy gossip this is sad. Thanks for posting the podcast with the ex, I'll see how much I can bear to listen to but from the reddit post and her badmouthing Suru, she's just coming across like a bitter ex.

If Sam took her dog and was dishonest then it's him she needs to go after. Or maybe she thinks targeting Suru will get her what she wants.

One thing the ex said that stuck out to me was that she changed while she was with Sam and I think we can all agree that Suru has definitely changed since they’ve been together

I noticed that. As awful as the ex girlfriend is, she does have receipts and even if she is exaggerating the extent of their relationship or his obsession with her, why would you willingly stay with someone like that? Especially if you’ve seen screenshots of his own mother confirming he is with you because of your money?
