No I didn’t think you were.
It’s a privilege that you see this as a bandwagon and something they will merely die down

Tweet email and petition for the removal of White Chicks ✌🏼
I don’t tweet sorry I don’t understand it 😳

Just remembered an episode of LoveThy Neighbour from the 70s and the black man whites up and pretends to be a flat cap wearing northerner in one episode, so should I be horrified one because a black man was pretending to be white and two because I’m from Lancashire, actually I’m neither.

I like how people are defending certain shows being removed but when it comes to White Chicks for example that's allowed to stay up when white people call for it to be taken down also.. yet it hasn't.

I didn’t say that at all. I said other people will see it as an opportunity to jump on bandwagons and this case is no different. I hope the true message behind the movement doesn’t die down because it needs to be heard.

Only if being a white northern man had the history of oppression and dehumanisation that black people had. Which it doesn't.

Blackface is offensive. Its not for us to argue that it isn't, that it's fine if you don't mean offence, or that there is two occasions of whiteface that you may or may not be offended by.

I am not offended but to be fair I have always said there are only 2 kinds of people in this world, good and bad what race nationality or religion people are is irrelevant, respect should be universal.

Yes in an ideal world it should be. However as a white woman my skin colour has never put me at a disadvantage nor meant I am disproportionately more likely to die. Yes white people can experience discrimination and racism and that should not happen but they do not face the same institutional and systemic disadvantage that black people do.

It should be yes! But black people are trying to highlight they lack respect from education, police, systems and society

It's all getting out of hand, this is the UK, why are we pandering to the minority?

Our historic statues are being removed, this is our history, for those that don't like it, either don't look or move elsewhere.

Half of the idiots protesting haven't a clue why they are doing it, just jumped on the bandwagon.

What next shall we change,
White wedding, white as snow, snow white, The White House etc etc
It's ridiculous, they are trying to wipe out our heritage & history.

Saw a couple of horrific videos on Twitter this morning, one a White officer being beaten up by a black man, where's the outrage.

The 2nd was a old black lady sitting on the tube being kicked in the face and head by a black man, where's the outrage 😡 😡😡 😡 😡

Just glad I won't be around in 30yrs,but I fear for my kids & grandkids growing up in what could well become a 3rd world country with people so feral running around attacking & killing each other.

More riots to come this weekend, all over a criminal who was a nasty piece of work dying 4000 miles away.

You do realise that taking down a statue doesn't erase history? I imagine the majority of us know who Hitler and the third reich were? And Jimmy Saville? I'd bet a lot of money that the majority of people didn't even know who these statues were of until they were taken down so I'd say its done wonders for education. If we are that worried we will forget all about these slavers and imperialists we should get behind a movement to overhaul the history curriculum to include slavery and the British empire and the cost of it all. I'd get behind that

I don’t know whether it should be taken down, maybe a little disclaimer or something would be enough.

But whiteface is very different to blackface. Not majorly but blackface was first used after the civil war by white Americans to dehumanise and make fun of black people.

I don't see the point of keeping it up. A statue celebrates. Remove it and put in a museum but it does nothing just being there. If we want to educate about slavery put a statue up for those that were taken from their homes, those that were subjected to inhumane treatment and those that wee simply thrown overboard.

Oh, I was referring to the TV shows :)

I agree the statues should be taken down. We have many more positive people within our history with far less problematic backgrounds. People are acting like statues are the only way we can learn about history...

I think it’s censorship being taken too far now. I didn’t personally like Little Britain anyway, but that’s besides the point. Shall we just ban everything in case it may offend someone out there? The examples given weren’t even done maliciously. Shows like Little Britain feature characters of all races, cultures, abilities.
My mum would never let my watch little brittan when it came out. She said it was vile. But I was allowed to play grand theft auto and go around shooting people on xbox 😬 Shes very P.C and shes deffinalty passed it down to me. Also the scene from Dumbo (original) with the blacked out slaves getting whipped as they put up the circus tent. Couldnt belive that!

Sorry am on two threads 🙈

I haven’t seen an episode of Tom and Jerry in years and years however, so I don’t know what the adult me would think but... I’ve just been reading and article and i had absolutely no idea (based on my childhood memories) that the lady who walks about telling Thomas off was a maid, I have always assumed up until 10 minutes ago, that it was her house and her cat.

I can’t remember where I read it yesterday but they are thinking of removing some of the classic disney cartoons on disney+ due to racism.

i’m all for supporting the cause and equality amongst races and everything that the movement is about, however this isn’t it. You can delete history, what you can do is teach people about it and let people learn from it.
