I have picked some of that up today. To be honest, we’ve not had many toilets anyway, but she’s drinking plenty and eating.Oh also. Make sure youre cleaning any areas with accidents with biological cleaner. If she can smell where shes gone she'l keep going back.
At 15 weeks has she just come from a breeder? What was the set up there?
It may take her a little while to switch on, if shes been using pads for over 10 weeks which is likely then it will take a bit longer but theyre clever dogs and they want to please you!I have picked some of that up today. Yea, we just got her from the breeder - a close family friend. They just had pads down in the living room unfortunately the breeder doesn’t have much of a garden to be letting them out.
We got a wee in the garden earlier and I made sure to make lots of fuss over her and gave her a treat (some of her kibble) so hopefully we’re on the road. I don’t go back to work until the 8th of January so I’ve got plenty time to get her out and practicing!
Is he a cockapoo? I feel like I remember this. Anyway RG is so common with these fluffy beasts. If hes bitten I wouldnt be removing anything from him unless its life threatening. Removing with force will only reinforce the behaviour as he thinks youl take things from him.Does anyone have any tips on resource guarding? A lot of the research I’ve done says to just leave them to it and reassure them that they’re not getting things taken off them etc, but our boy does it with things he picks up off of the ground (crisp/sweet wrappers, bags, food) so it’s not things he can keep or we can give him time with because we obviously don’t want him to swallow them. We’ve tried the highest value rewards with things he really likes and would usually do anything for (liver paste, cheese) but he pays no interest and totally focuses on whatever he’s picked up. He’s went for/bit us when trying to get the stuff off him and he’s around kids quite often so don’t want this to get any worse. We obviously try and stop him from picking things up but there are odd times he does it before we notice, especially when he’s off lead
Yeah he is a cockapoo! I was thinking muzzling might have to be the way forward, I really don’t want to but the rate he’s going he’s seriously going to harm himself he will lift and swallow absolutely anything 🫣 I’ll try squirty cream, that’s a good idea!Is he a cockapoo? If hes off lead and lifting things Id muzzle him so he cant pick stuff if he wont drop on command. Purely for his own safety because he could lift something that could kill him like chewing gum.
For now keep the house completely clear (appreciate he may not be picking up anything in the house) and swapping is the way forward. My oldest boy doesnt get balls anymore because he becomes fixated to the point his body is vibrating. He wont settle. He doesnt RG but it could certainly happen I reckon with ballsif he knows there is one in the garden he will pant and whine and pace to get to it.
Anyway if he wont swap you just need to wait until he loses interest and lift it out of sight of him.
I know you wont but do not attempt to alpha a RG dog. It wont help. Swap swap swap.
My dogs love squirty cream so even the sound of it coming out they come running
Just quoting myself but today’s toilet training has been going well. Only 3 accidents, all tonight but she seems to be refusing to do anything in the pouring rain. I’m sure she’ll soon realise the quicker she does the toilet the quicker she gets back in.I have picked some of that up today. Are they ok with her being older and bigger than the other pups? Isn't ideal really. Although I'm on the fence about puppy classes, depending on the format they can do more harm than good.Just quoting myself but today’s toilet training has been going well. have also signed up for puppy classes, I’m excited but hopefully she doesn’t show me upI get the feeling she’ll be the oldest and biggest pup there 🥹
They tend to have age limits think 20 weeks around here anyway. Are they ok with her being older and bigger than the other pups? Isn't ideal really. Although I'm on the fence about puppy classes, depending on the format they can do more harm than good.
Mine was 18 weeks when we started puppy classes so he was the oldest (also the smallestAre they ok with her being older and bigger than the other pups? Isn't ideal really. Although I'm on the fence about puppy classes, depending on the format they can do more harm than good.
Their classes are for pups under 6 months old, so hopefully they’ll allow her, she’ll be just 17 weeks when we start. Are they ok with her being older and bigger than the other pups? I agree with @Caffeine Fiend it needs doing.I'm back. This thread is such a help.
Any experience of un descended testicles at all please folk?. We get a quarterly vet check with our flea, worm subscription and at the check today the vet was insistent on booking us in straight away for an operation in Jan (so little boy will be 10 months).
I know they should have descended by now but I have seen them appear and dissappear regularly so thought he was just a 'late bloomer'. I understand why it is important to remove them e.g. cancer but I'm very worried about such an invasive op - stomach cavity and was hoping that they would materialise on their own. I think it all just happened so fast (the booking) that now I'm worried if it's the right thing (F1 cockapoo). Thank you.
We took ours to puppy classes and she was the oldest, immediately did a big shit in the middle of the village hallAre they ok with her being older and bigger than the other pups? Isn't ideal really.
