I dont usually watch Dev as he gets on my nerves but saw his new Discovery cove vid and thought I'd give it a go as we are going for the first time next year. He has made me so cross. Did he not read anything about the place? They specifically ask you not to wear sun cream as its not good for the animals and offer their own animal friendly version free as an alternative- he even shows you their sun cream- but in there next shot there he is spraying himself in his own. Selfish.

I haven’t watched Dev in months (not even to hate watch!) - but had to skim through this vlog to check this out!

I’ve been lucky enough to do DC a few times and it’s drilled into you several times during check-in (and when you book your tickets) to not use your own and you HAVE to use their one!I looked on the comments for the video, and there is not ONE negative comment out of nearly 200! ) - not even a curious question or two about packages, attractions etc - every comment is blowing smoke up his a!its blatantly obvious he is approving comments before they go live - Dev you are telling us NO-ONE picked up on the sunscreen thing, or even wants to ask a question about your day? Pffft
ETA: It’s not just the ignorance of using your own sunscreen that’s the issue, he is suppose to be ‘informing’ his audience - the sunscreen and Jewellery thing is such an important piece of info for anyone looking to book a day there.
At least we can safely say this wasn’t an #Ad - because no doubt this wouldn’t have been approved by DC

I don't know what you and other commenters are talking about. I re-watched his video and towards the beginning he showed where the park provided sunscreen and hand sanitizer. He makes a point of stating everything is provided with the exception of the wet suit and the swim vest. As far as I can tell Dev didn't apply any sunscreen. That's not sunscreen. That is bug spray.
That's banana Boat ultraSport Reef Friendly Sunscreen - you can tell by the yellow stripe over the bottom blue band
I'm not sure how I feel about this. DC isn't cheap to get into, if willing to pay for it one should also be willing to buy and use the sunscreen they want you to. Then again, it seems DEV either did his homework or lucked out and bought sunscreen without the dangerous chemicals in it.
Either way, he should have pointed out in his video what he was using since he showed it on camera.

The product he used contains an ingredient that causes coral bleaching and kills ocean coral reefs. Discovery cove provides completely safe sunscreen thats entirely complimentary to ensure that nothing is harmed. Banana boat do a reef safe version, but its packaging is white with the blue band and an orange stripe.
Ha ha. Sorry it looked like bug spray to me. I wasn't even aware you could get sunscreen in a spray. However, I saw where one guest asked Discovery Cove if they had to use the provided sunscreen because they needed to use a higher level of UV protection and this was their answer:
"Greetings from Discovery Cove-
We do provide a SPF 30 animal friendly sunscreen but we do not require our Guests to use this. For situations such as your you are more than welcome to bring the own sunscreen you normally use. As far as water shoes this is a personal choice. Keep in mind we have a very naturalistic environment with rocks, crevices, concrete pathways and sand. Many of our Guests do bring their own to protect their feet. This is also helpful in the summer months as the sand can get quite hot.

From reading Trip Advisor reviews it appears Dev isn't the only one who brings their own sunscreen. I'm cheap though and I would've used what was provided. Some people are weird about getting a product from a communal pump. Maybe he is one of those. I personally don't worry that I will catch something from using a pump on a large sunscreen container that everyone dips into.
I looked the one up he used (I wasn't aware you could get a sunscreen in a spray--I honestly thought it was bug repellent). It also says reef safe but it doesn't specify it is safe for animals. I think the "reef safe" for this just means it won't wash off in the water. I did see the one you mentioned which specifically says it won't harm wildlife.
Oh, I didn't know the sunscreen is provided for free. Then I really seen no reason not to use the one they offer unless there is a concern with a personal reaction to the lotion or if ultra sensitive about smell or texture. ... ok... sigh... I have to admit I'm in this group and would have my own backup lotion ready. If that's the case though I probably would be worried about going in the water with it on.
The only sunscreen I've ever used is for faces only. I'm very sensitive to lotions on my face. From the video the sunscreen was in a large container with a pump on it. SPF 30 (don't know why I said UV earlier). A lot of comments on Trip Advisor said the provided sunscreen did not work and was thick and sticky. It wouldn't have bothered me to use it but my daughter does not like to use a pump that so many hands touch. But, I will never go to Discovery Cove. I can't swim.
Ditto on the sunscreen. I'm upset with Coppertone for dropping the sensitive skin faces only. I realize it might be bad for wildlife, but I wear it daily, not for swimming.
I use the Neutrogena Sport Face oil free sunscreen that is SPF 70 and I wear a brimmed hat on top of that.
I'll look into it. Thank you for sharing what works for you.
Oh, and I did ask Dev why he didn't use the provided sunscreen and he said he required a much higher SPF than the 30 SPF the park provided.I'll look into it. Thank you for sharing what works for you.

I don't think this guy is spot on in his predictions. He got ATW wrong. Many said he lowballed ATW. He might be closer to the mark on Devv. I can't see Devv quitting his day job if he didn't think he was making enough at YouTube to make his rent and bills. His mom is known to send him money for his cameras and other gear. Not 100% of the time but a lot of the time. She has a good job. I'm sure Bianca has a job as well and is contributing to the household income.
