Yeah ok I get they might be some good social workers out there, my point is there is a professional social worker on here with a profile picture of becky jones which I dont find very nice to be honest. I can imagine what type of social worker she is... why have this type of image as your profile given her profession I dont understand its unprofessional and very much like a troll... but ok they are not all as bad.

My profile picture used to be my dogs - then it was Becky jones - from back in the lock down days when the threads were really quite fun. I had breast cancer and went through a hard time and didn’t post for a long time. And tbh - there’s not many threads I do post on now…. But anyway, I never really got round to changing it. I probably should tbh.
But again- I understand your point of view. There are lots of disappointing sw out there and I can see why you’d make a judgement on me. All I can say is - I work tirelessly for and with the families assigned to me and I’m very good at my job. I’m sorry if your experience hasn’t been positive.

It genuinely breaks my heart thinking that Preston somehow ended up in the hands of not one monster but two. I know we still don’t know the full extent of JMF’s involvement but the impression I get (and I could be completely wrong) is that JV was the one who started the abuse and JMF somehow became involved too. Imagine bonding over something so utterly sick and twisted

Especially all this 'There's no good social worker!' stuff in a thread about two sexually abusive murderers. I hope heads do roll if social workers have been swayed too easily, its a job that calls for some cynicism unfortunately; but that poster sounds far more offended by someone being a social worker than Preston's death. If social workers do nothing else, the fear of them is what keeps some people from harming their kids (and partners) - as we saw in lockdown, some very abusive people felt safe venting their rage when social worker and police were restricted.

Yes that stayed with me too - it would almost certainly have been fairly recent, recent enough to not be the cause of death, though it would have contributed. From my understanding it’s very hard for that injury to happen accidentally.

I’ve only seen it reported by Manchester Live I think, but it’s unlikely to be a reporting error in my opinion as it’s such a harrowing piece of information. Who would get that wrong?

It will come out in the trial I expect. Surely the prosecution will call the pathologist?

Can anyone ELI5 please. The triall is estimated to last 6 to 6 weeks. Is it likely to follow a set format? 2 weeks in and it’s harrowing already so I’m wondering what will come out and when.

Also, I’m surprised at the footage that has already been released. Is this more than usual? It feels it to me and makes me wonder if we are moving towards the American way of allowing cameras im court rooms

Prosecution is always first with evidence and witnesses. So we do hear the most damning at the start. Then it’s down to the defence to argue before jury go to deliberations.
No, it’s not unusual to release footage once it’s been shown in court for a high profile case.

No judgement - have whoever you want as your profile picture. It's people like, profile pic and all, that have made my family a success story.

Ive read a few live trials, as im sure many others reading have too.

They tend to follow a chronological order of what happened and then follow on in terms of interactivity of police, then all the medical evidence... then back to police.

The police will have interviewed varleys mum. I'm 99% positive she will be called to the stand.

The medical people will be called and every key component of each injury will be dissected, and analysed to work out what occurred and when plus any contributions to deteriorating health, how that present itself etc, and cause of death.

They will have searched the house/ car/ bins... everywhere to determine the truth of what happened, and to verify the account of the monster (s). Washing machine contents/ sex toy dna... everything.

That bath (asside for anything ele ) was imo used to clean off evidence from himself and Preston of the monsters despicable acts.

They will go through any Internet history documented/deleted on their phones.

He was receiving the photos and videos though of Preston's abuse and didn't do anything, it makes him as guilty in my eyes.
They must also have some evidence of him being involved in an attack too for him to have the charge for SA.

Yes I agree. As far as I am aware we don't know which of the photos and videos he received.
