Preston Davey Trial

I’m finding following the trial live difficult for 2 reasons - obviously what is being reported is horrendous. That poor little boy. I feel for those in court having to hear it all and see things too.

The second reason is the live reporting on the Manchester post. As I’m working, I’m not able to follow real time most days so catch up at the end of the day and it only goes so far back so I miss most of the days reporting. I followed the Letby trail and didn’t have this problem, I could scroll all the way back and read the updates from the start of court. Is this a me thing or is it the site?

I follow the live updates on Lancs Live and a couple of days I've had to check in the evening and been able to go back to the beginning of the days updates so maybe try that site?

This isn't from today but it looks like Varley's KC was trying to throw his sister under the bus and says there was gossip that it was she, and not her brother Jamie, who was having the dark thoughts of suffocating her twins:

As an aside does anyone else think the social media trend of complaining about kids and taking and sharing pictures of everything could normalise some abusive behaviours? A school friend of mine once put a photo online of her baby in a state of "poonami" if that wasnt bad enough baby was holding a sign that said something like "I've done a massive tit" i was honestly disgusted by it, who leaves their baby like that to go and make a sign and then post it all online?

So much is shared online it’s scary. Ashley Graham shared a photo of her changing her son’s nappy on the floor of a shop, I’ve seen so many mum’s refer to their children as ‘crotch goblins’ (which I’ve never found funny), others posting videos of their children dancing around and you can clearly see their underwear, Carrie Johnson (Boris Johnson’s wife) posted a photo of her baby daughter and you could see her genital area. It’s like being a child isn’t a private moment anymore, it all has to be documented for people to see. I mean my Mum took funny photos of myself and my siblings in the bath when we were little but if she allowed any odd bod to see them I’d be mortified!

I think it should be illegal to profit off your child's image.

Ive never understood people who ag off their kids or film them having tantrums or private moments or share their medical information.

Its despicable.

Other than the obvious issue with the language in his text, this is the second or third time (that I’ve seen) where JV refers to Preston as “your son” when talking to JF. He comes across as a totally manipulative psychopath (obviously in hindsight - but I think there were more than enough red flags before). Also gives me the impression the desire to adopt may have been more from JF?

I started reading this trial on Monday and had to stop because it's just so unbelievably despicable that two humans can do this to a defenceless baby who has already experienced trauma being removed first from his mum then from his foster carers. I work in a job aligned with social care and so does my husband who used to be a court reporter. This is one of the worst cases I remember ever encountering for sheer cruelty and depravity.
In a weird way I'm glad this thread is here so that I'm not the only one reading this and thinking what the ever loving duck?!

He comes across as very controlling and abusive. We haven't heard how John responds to him though he could be just as bad.
I found it very strange that Jamie was sending pictures of Preston injured to John throughout the evening and saying he wasn't going to bring him to hospital and John said his flight was delayed and Jamie says this is all your fault. He was deliberately injuring the baby and then starting arguments and blaming his partner for it. Very deranged

People have said that the time between them being approved to be Preston’s adoptive parents to actually getting him was very short - I don’t know much about adoption so I was wondering why they got him quite quickly? Is it due to diversity or do different areas have different timescales?

Also, not to take away from what happened to poor innocent Preston. But given the name of his BM given here, and some of the deleted comments, has anyone googled Sarah Davey of Failsworth surely not. I know thats adding 1+1 and potentially getting 3. But this poor poor innocent soul never stood a chance, it's just too heartbreaking

I know thats adding 1+1 and potentially getting 3. But this poor poor innocent soul never stood a chance, it's just too heartbreaking

I saw a post on r/adoption that mentioned the BM was a convicted killer. Someone asked who and how did they know. I have gone back to look and can't see it now but my app is playing up. I think it could be true.

She was originally released in 2013 but kept getting recalled after failing drug tests and breaching the terms of her licence. It could well be the same person. From itv news:

“In 2013, she was freed from Askham Grange women's prison near York after serving 14 years behind bars.

She then moved back to Greater Manchester - and was living just two miles from the scene of the killing.

But that same year she was behind bars again after testing positive for using c, breaching the terms of her licence.

Each time she was released from prison after that, she was recalled for breaching the terms of her licence.

In 2022, the Parole Board rejected Davey's release for an eighth time.

At a hearing, it was revealed that she had the opioid painkiller subutex in her system.”

I’m sure Sarah is his birth mum, looking on Facebook she also has a daughter who is older and she is still with the family, there are also posts from a man mentioning Preston being his baby boy and Sarah’s mum Debbie has also commented on it so this could potentially be his father? Not sure if I can post screenshots with names

Edited to add I think Preston’s father is also her daughters father too
