When they're asking him these questions I'm pretty sure they know the answers, it's just to see what he'll say , will he admit to anything.A few points that have occurred to me, having just caught up on yesterday’s live reporting and the summary of the podcast given above. Can they not use location data on the hot tub photo? Where was it, who was there and wtf was going on?! The bruises to his head, omg you can see what is insinuated by the description of them. There’s so many things wrong- am I the most nervous parent ever that I would NOT have had 5 cuddly toys and various blankets in my child’s cot. It’s a suffocation hazard and they weren’t even allowed more than one or two once they were bigger and sleeping in a bed. Describing him snuggling and chewing them makes Preston sound like a pet dog in a crate. Yes I am aware babies chew soft things, my eldest would chew a vest or his own sock because he never wanted a dummy. “Free Willy time”- that’s something I might have done when they were tiny if I was struggling with nappy rash but it’s been largely discounted as helpful and a barrier cream and clean nappy are preferable. I wouldn’t have done that once they were older with larger volume of wee and old enough to rummage their privates (none of mine really did that though I’m aware it’s not uncommon for little boys and they had taken videos of Preston doing it, the sickos). Leaving a baby who is at risk of attachment disorder to cry and whimper so you can prove to yourself he’s manipulative and whiny! That’s one of the most misguided (I’m being generous), cruel and or narcissistic things I’ve heard. I just can’t get over the audacity of JV dismissing the internal injuries. There was nobody else there to cause them on his final day. I think a focus is being made on the bladder because the defence will probably use the doctor’s words about the appearance of his bottom sometimes being seen after a resuscitation to push for reasonable doubt
I was confused by this too, but my teacher friend told me that a lot of their heads of years aren't actually PGCE qualified. So they can't teach a class, but can do a head of year / SENCO type role as they are more pastoral. To teach a class, you do your PGCE.Sorry I'm not fully caught up on the thread so apologies if this is out of place. I've just been reading through some of the back articles on the Blackpool Gazette after the link was posted to Varleys interview.
I'm now even more confused on Varleys Teaching timeliness.
Apologies I'm shit with links but I'm pretty sure this is correct from various reporting.
He did his teacher training between 2019-2021 (incidentally during mostly covid and lockdown times, remember those days?......)
They began the adoption process in late 2021, and passed stage 1 of the process early 2022. Then they took a break before the 2nd part, I'm pretty sure it was said because he wanted to get his year 11s through their exams as he had had them from the start?
I'm sure one of his teacher colleagues said that. But how if that was his first year as a qualified teacher? Had he been head of year during training?
Also the thing about the prom was when they had Preston with them wasn't it? The meet up at the hotel with colleagues. So that would relate to year 11s/exams, but this is a year later in 2023.
Its not especially relevant i suppose but I can't figure it out.

Wonder why the hot tub was a sensitive subject for him , going no comment and almost sounding subdued at the memory. Also a baby in a hot tub sounds wild to me, the water is so high, I know they were probably holding him but even if you accidentally let him go that's so dangerous, it's not like a bath or a paddling pool
Doesn’t exactly scream innocence does it. He’s forgetting there’s a baby at the centre of all this that’s died one way or another. Most people would be distraught and would sit up straight and treat it all with a little respect. He thinks he’s being victimised here, the guy is an utter disgrace and a danger to society. The difference in the two interviews is staggering, the first one all soft spoken and contributing, I'd say he thought he'd give his false account and then police would disappear. He's extremely pissed off two years later when the whole thing hasn't gone away he's so passive aggressive rolling his eyes and yawning. Don't think I've ever seen such a narcissist, sick, demented pig in all my life
Children under 5 shouldn't be in hot tubs at all due to risk of overheating, dehydration and the chemicals they use. Surely checking that is basic childcare.Re: the hot tub - I've been in hot tubs (twice - I didn't like them) and apart from the obvious dangers of deep, chlorinated water and slippery babies, surely the temperature is too hot for the comfort of a small child? (Just thinking back to years of testing bathwater with my elbow, here).
And how many bumps/ bruises does a child of that age accumulate? Mostly they are playing in a comparatively protected environment - they may accidentally bump themselves on a cot bar or a table leg but most parents keep a close watch, move anything that could hurt them if they hit it, keep them off hard surfaces and away from sharp objects etc.Sounds like Preston has bruises to his forehead almost constantly. Yes, babies of that age very occasionally bang their heads hard enough to bruise, but the sight of Preston with new bruises appearing on his head all the time should have rang alarm bells. JV’s mother saw him a lot - what on earth did she think?
Her comment at the hospital suggested she had fears that he was being mistreated.
