Thanks for this. Skimming through it now. I know the foster carer said he was a poor sleeper but he would settle very quickly for them. She said her and her husband would just take shifts and he just liked a stroke or to be held and then would go back to sleep they had a special pillow for his reflux.. did these holes even get him one? Why did he cry all night right from the get go. Just so horrible.

And the neighbours heard constant crying but he was such a happy baby

I find him saying about the damage to samples during post mortem to be a bit of an odd take here. Is he suggesting it’s possible the home office forensic pathologist of over 30 years might have damaged samples taken from Preston then diagnosed it as anal injuries afterwards?

Surely she saw the damage before she took any samples at all. Or would know herself if it was a compromised sample. Or have I just watched too many silent witnesses.

I understand medical experts can have differing views but some his takes feel a little stretched to me.

That is so desperately sad to read poor little soul. To go from that level of comfort and love to being trapped with those cruel beasts not knowing when they’d hurt him next and unable to tell what was happening to him.

I feel like this is was one of those instances where we were ‘going through the motions’ because now this has been covered, brought up as a ‘possibility’ but an extremely unlikely one, and the jury disregard it, they can’t use that as part of an appeal. Odd, but useful in the eyes of the law imo

I know people have no sympathy for Preston's Mum because she basically killed someone else's baby (not a literal baby) but I do. I just can't help it.

Feel sorry for the poor foster parents who seemed to have shown Preston the most love and care for his short life, and they don’t seem to fit in anywhere in this. I hope they were allowed to keep some of his belongings if his ashes are back with his bio mum. What a sad state all round.

It’s just so tragic. A baby ripped away from his mother and family, taken away from foster carers who loved him and given to two dirty men who tortured and murdered him. He was barely one year old. I can’t imagine the pain of having to come to terms with that fact.

He actually looked loved by his bio mum and family. There’s pictures of him with his sister holding him. It’s not like he wasn’t wanted or there was risk of him being harmed with them. It’s so sad all round. A baby should always be with the bio mum if possible.

If possible yes, and if not hopefully with the bio family, but in this case I can absolutely see why he couldn't have stayed with the Mum. The crime was horrific and sadistic and even though she was very young I am not sure if that could make her more or less of a danger.

My heart aches for them, too - they will have loved him very much - how could they not?

I know someone on here has said that they know the foster mum. I hope they let her know how much we all feel for her suffering. Her poor heart must be broken by what she has had to hear about what happened to the lovely, healthy, happy little lad she gave into what she thought was a loving, permanent family who would care for him and protect him.

She tried her very best to bring her worries to the authorities, and they ignored her concerns.

There are many people who love their children very much, but just don't have the capability of looking after them. For the child's sake they need to be fostered or adopted. On this occasion it was a terrible tragedy, but more commonly it works out very well.

It’s much more likely bio mum continued to have a chaotic lifestyle/substance misuse and that was why the decision was made the she couldn't care for Preston than it being based solely on past criminality as heinous as the crime she committed was

If sister is with Nan it would suggest she can’t be with mum. And then unfortunately Nan couldn't take Preston either.

That is such a good point! I'm not being sexist, but I have noticed when someone offends or does something terrible the mother seems to take the brunt of it, and not the father
