I am surprised about his mum too, especially as he was there the day it happened, and had changed his nappy.
maybe she had made it clear she wouldn't be a very good defence witness (maybe she is devastated at what her son has allegedly done and wouldn't say anything to support him). Can the prosecution call a witness but not the defence ?

I assumed he was talking about the perforation which was hard to see ref: the injury to the anal wall that is mentioned?

He also said that “something” can happen due to constipation so I was thinking he meant the prolapse - as they can often be caused by this. We also don’t know how big it was, it might not have been a massive one - but we know there was an obvious injury to it as JV tried to pass it off as caused by medications used during the resus attempt.
Yes it can often mean just parts of the rectal wall are visible/protruding from the mole, especially where constipation is involved. And as we all know it is not something he had ever suffered with and even JV isn’t inventing lies that he did. So then the kind of extreme constipation the docs says might cause that presentation can certainly be ruled out. Leaving only one other cause 😓

As we are kind of talking about information that came out during the first trial, but since not seemed to have been reported again - does anyone remember reading about a video I think it was of Preston on the bed/ playmat with JV’s dog stood over him growling at him & Preston being scared? 🙁

I am sure I read this somewhere before but haven’t seen it mentioned by anyone and now not sure if I am just imagining it! Though he did talk about the dog & Preston so maybe it was covered again but not reported this time.

I assumed he was talking about the perforation which was hard to see / the injury to the anal wall that is mentioned in the transcript below he also said things can happen during the taking of samples, so he’s alluding damage/ hole internally could be caused by that.

He also said that “something” can happen due to constipation so I was thinking he meant the prolapse - as they can often be caused by this (according to google). We also don’t know how big it was, it might not have been a massive one - but we know there was an obvious injury Drs saw, as JV tried to pass it off as caused by medications used during the resus attempt.
I find him saying about the damage to samples during post mortem to be a bit of an odd take here. Is he suggesting it’s possible the home office forensic pathologist of over 30 years might have damaged samples taken from Preston then diagnosed it as anal injuries afterwards?

Surely she saw the damage before she took any samples at all. Or would know herself if it was a compromised sample. Or have I just watched too many silent witnesses.

I understand medical experts can have differing views but some his takes feel a little stretched to me.

Not gonna lie, there were times today when reading the court updates that I thought the evidence from Professor Crane might muddy the waters in terms of creating doubt but pleased to see that Peter Wright shut him down in skilfully professional terms.

I think I remember hearing that there was a photo of the dog asleep on Preston’s head which sounded awful. And another where the dog is trampling all over him and he’s upset 😓

Also apologies as I don’t know how to hide text for those who would not rather read the most distressing details
Click on the three dots on the toolbar and select either 'spoiler' or 'inline spoiler' from the drop-down menu.

How do we know if it’s true if it hasn’t been reported though?
I am one that saw it mentioned elsewhere from discussions from the first trial, that had to be abandoned - all the reporting from the first time has dissapeared but I did manage to find this. Which I think sadly confirms what we have been thinking 🙁

JMF will do everything he can to avoid the SA conviction. Otherwise he will be on the sex offenders register when he is released. I’m hoping whole life tariff for JV but I don’t know what the maximum tariff for causing or allowing death of a child. It will be dictated by the sentencing guidelines and how the judge is able to apply them. So the prospect of JMF walking the streets again will be on his (and hopefully the jury’s) mind.

The max sentence is life and looking at the guidelines I think he would fall into Cat A culpability so hopefully a very high sentence

Could it be out for jury deliberation end of week?
JMF won’t be on stand as long as JV, then closing speeches and judge remarks i guess unless i am missing anything ??
