I think all our lovely influencers and Instagrammers make pregnancy out to be far more glam and exciting than the reality!

I'm 19 weeks and don't feel excited, just very anxious and nervous and wanting the 21 week scan to arrive asap to make sure everything is ok even though everything was fine at the 13 week scan. I haven't bought any baby stuff yet.

And I know everyone carries differently, but I feel like I'm pretty small. I'm an average size 12 but my 'bump' just looks like I've had a massive kebab and chips when I raise my top. It's not rounded or anything and you wouldn't be able to tell if you saw me in the street. I suffer a lot from body dysmorphia so quite happy I'm not really showing, but also a little concerned that I probably should be bigger? Doesn't help that the 16-18 week appointments were cancelled so haven't been measured at all.
The earliest they would usually measure you would be the 25 week appointment with the NHS so please don't feel you're missing out on care you would usually get.
A girl I know found out she was pregnant same week as me, only she was 5 1/2 mths and only went to the doctor because she could feel movements and thought something was terribly wrong with her. She was about a size 14 but wasn't showing at all. (still smoking, drinking, farming and lifting at work etc) She's now got a healthy, chunky little boy.

I don't blame you for not having bought anything, a lot of people don't. Again I think things like Instagram give the wrong impression of the average person with influencers setting up full nurseries by 30 weeks and showing off different outfits for every day before they're even here etc.
You don't need even a quarter of the rit they have either.

I was a size 12 too for my first pregnancy and I didn't actually have a visible bump until after 30 weeks.
Nobody could tell I was pregnant at all!

I also don't buy anything at all until at least 24 weeks. Although it's usually around 30 weeks I'll start buying/looking at stuff

I’m a size 8-10 normally & my bump is humongous (I’m 26 weeks but still!). Feel like I’m going to explode lol

at 38 weeks just got the pram and bedside crib at the weekend 🤣

everyone had been asking me for weeks after the 20 week scan had I bought anything but to be honest I felt like I was ‘jinxing’ myself so put it off as long as possible!

I have found pregnancy such a stressful time I suppose not knowing what to expect! It’s so different for everyone and hard to not compare especially when you see posts on Instagram etc

Hopefully this will come into effect
Seen this, very good news. The conclusion of the report is that partners, or a support partner for the women, should not be treated as visitors to the hospital as they are an integral part of the maternity process.

My husband isn’t and wasn’t allowed to any scans or appointments. Such a shame as the scans really help with bonding etc.

My sister in law had one years ago, it was unsuccessful and she had a c section. I’ve heard lots of negative about them, they don’t work or baby turns themselves back.
I’ve got to have one tomorrow 😬 Baby has been head down at last 2 scans (28 and 32 weeks) and has decided now to lie oblique at 36 weeks.

I haven’t packed my bags so that’s today’s job as I’m stressing out a bit now.

I hope so. I would have liked my husband to have been at my 12 week scan. My next scan is a 32 week growth scan, to be honest I doubt he will come even if he is allowed as negotiating the time off work is not easy. I’ve heard you can’t see much on a growth scan anyway

You don’t have to have it if you don’t want to! It’s perfectly within your rights to say no. I won’t lie, I have heard it’s not particularly pleasant to have done (but others who have had the experience may have more insight!)

My consultant was really keen to try tomorrow with me being 36 weeks. After googling have seen it can be really painful so I will ask him to stop if it is.

Did anyone else get days where they didn't feel too bad and almost back to normal at 8/9 weeks? I feel a lot better today and I'm so worried 😭 I know I should be grateful for a break but after a loss you just worry constantly about every little thing 😔

Yep, and it lasted for a good while until I developed movements and bit of a bump. I think it’s cos your placenta takes over around that time which stops you feeling so tit!

I imagine they like to have a go as a vaginal birth will almost always be preferable to having to do a section. But definitely go in remembering you are in charge and can refuse or ask to stop at any time.

Around 9 weeks in my last pregnancy my sickness went for about 4 days. Was bliss but also so scary. It came right back again 🤦🏻‍♀️ Around 9-10 weeks a lot of people’s symptoms do clear up. It doesn’t mean anything awful, jus that the hormones are settling and your body is adjusting. I’ve had a loss as well, and it’s hard not to panic afterwards x
