I feel fortunate that my partner’s been allowed to my scans at 9, 12 and 20 weeks.

I’m having an elective c-sec, I know he’ll be allowed in for the surgery and immediately afterwards, but he’ll have to leave once I go to post-natal ward.

Visiting used to be one person from 9am-9pm which meant previously he was able to lift the baby and pass to me for feeding, fetch drinks, change nappies etc.

It’s now changed to 1 person for 1hr per day IF you’re not being discharged that day. It concerns me!

My partner was allowed to come to my 13 week scan but received a letter a while back saying no partners for the 20 week scan and was upset about that, so very, very happy with the news.

Our hospital is 2 hours after delivery and then no other visiting 😌 I know it was in the news last night about partners being allowed in more but think each trust has to make their own risk assessment.

It’s the NHS England guidelines, but each trust can still set their own. So it doesn’t mean that they’ll actually act on it.

I'd double check maybe? My letter for both my 12 and 20 week scans said nobody else to attend. But I spoke to my midwife and she said that they are allowed

Did anyone else get days where they didn't feel too bad and almost back to normal at 8/9 weeks? I feel a lot better today and I'm so worried 😭 I know I should be grateful for a break but after a loss you just worry constantly about every little thing 😔
Symptoms don't mean anything really. You don't need to worry at all.
And after a certain week, the placenta takes over and you usually end up with symptoms dying down. Hence they usually say the second trimester is the best as you don't have all the symptoms.
Usually. 😂

I hope so. I would have liked my husband to have been at my 12 week scan. My next scan is a 32 week growth scan, to be honest I doubt he will come even if he is allowed as negotiating the time off work is not easy. I’ve heard you can’t see much on a growth scan anyway
My hospital allow at 12 and 20 weeks but not for growth scans as the purpose isn't for seeing the baby ect

Has anyone had an ECV before?
I had one.

He didn’t turn and I had to have an emergency csection in the end because my waters broke before my planned one. The little tinker was determined to come.

It isn’t painful at all, it’s uncomfortable but compared to contractions it’s a walk in the park. I would happily have another one if my baby was breach again.

Saying that I would also happily have a csection again. That’s definitely not as bad as they scare you into - I was doing the food shop 6 days later proudly showing off my baby and no one would’ve known I’d had a csection.

The first 12 weeks is definitely the worst. I got NO symptoms and I mean none! I missed my period, did a test and it was negative. Period still hadn’t come a week later and got a positive. Then nothing - I wasn’t tired, nauseous, boobs didn’t hurt. I did more pregnancy tests to be like am I? Aren’t I? I even said sorry to my husband before the scan because I was sure I’d just made the whole thing up and convinced myself I was pregnant.

I didn’t get any real bump until I was about 25 weeks and even at the end I looked about 6 months pregnant rather than 9 and still no real symptoms apart from heartburn. It was only when I used to get movement I finally settled and accepted I was definitely pregnant.

So those who aren’t getting symptoms or a bump don’t worry - it can be normal. I just class myself very lucky that I had such an easy pregnancy and I loved every second, especially when I finally got my bump and could show it off 😊

Thank you. Reading up on the risks associated with them has got me a bit stressed out. How many weeks were you when they tried? Did they only try to turn him once?

I was exactly 37 weeks when they tried to turn him. I remember because it was all so last minute and it was my last day at work. So I had my ECV then had to go back to work to wrap stuff up (so it can’t have been super traumatic or I wouldn’t have been able to go to work after 🤣).

He was completely breech so his bum was basically engaged. My consultant was really good and she had a chat with me before because she could see I was worried, the midwife had made me feel as though I was daft if I didn’t try it.

But my consultant said I didn’t have to do it if I didn’t want to and a csection is absolutely fine, especially the type I would be having rather than an actual emergency we need to get the baby out now kind.

She just tried to move him out and jiggled him about a bit, and when it became apparent he wasn’t going to budge she said that’s fine then, he’s obviously comfy. Csection it is.

The only thing I got after was a bruise on the bottom of my bump.

I’m 36 weeks today. Baby is lying across rather than fully breech. Don’t know if that makes any difference. Makes sense now why I felt so uncomfortable yesterday. Thought it was a bum sticking out, not a head 😂

Mentally preparing myself for the possibility of a c section, but people I know who’ve had emergency and planned ones rave about how nice the planned ones are.

Mine was technically an emergency csection but it wasn’t, it was just because I was in active labour. There was no emergency.

It was really nice and calm. They played music. Everyone was absolutely lovely. And I don’t have a csection shelf.. so a winner all round I’d say 🤣

I hope everything goes ok for you ☺

agree I had zero symptoms apart from my boobs ached I mean as in turning over in bed was agony 🤣 had to wear a bra

I initially put it down to ‘lockdown’ and not wearing a bra as normal through the day they were just unsupported ha

it is hard to feel ‘pregnant’ with lack of symptoms or bump! Feel very lucky I had no sickness though, feel so sorry for ladies that do 😔

Huge difference between emergency and elective c-secs.

My first baby was an emergency c-sec after a horrific labour, the baby was in distress and I was very poorly. The section is an absolute blur. I was in hospital for 5 days afterwards.

I attempted a vbac with my second but that also ended in emergency c-sec. It went better than the first, but still not great. I was in hospital for 3 days.

My third I had an elective c-sec. It was calm and chilled, lots of laughter, we had the radio on (he was born to a spice girls song), they lowered the screen so I could see him being born, had delayed cord clamping, and he was straight on my chest for skin to skin. My recovery was also MUCH easier than the other two. I was home the next evening.

I’m going for a private scan today! As I’m 12 weeks on Boxing Day so my 12 week scan isn’t till January and I’m impatient. Would like to tell close family for Xmas!! I’m so nervous. Had one at 7+5 and all was fine!!

She turned 🎉 It was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting. Tummy feels a bit tender now, but fingers crossed she doesn’t flip again now.
