Booked my third and final private scan for this pregnancy - having a 4D scan on the 13th and I'm so excited to see his little squishy face!
I really do not enjoy pregnancy, the aches, pains, tiredness and weight gain of it all, but my fave bits have for SURE been the scans and the kicks, I could watch him on the screen and kicking me for literal hours 😭 can't wait to be a mom of two ❤

We actually have some melatonin that we bought in America last year , I’ve been too scared to take it as Google is vague . I have a midwife appointment next week and it’s on my list to ask her about if it’s safe to take . It’s in my bedside drawer taunting me
Melatonin crosses the placenta and can affect the developing circadian rhythm and while it is potentially safe, it hasn't been researched any where near enough to give a definitive answer so is usually best avoided. If your insomnia is severe then your doctor may weigh up the pros and cons and think its safer for you to take the lowest dose versus getting no sleep.

Eeeeee amazing! Thinking of you x
Thank you!

Big fan of mini pasta here! Congratulations, be very kind to yourself. Will keep everything crossed for you.
Thanks; maybe I’ll start calling the babe Pastina, like the tiny soup pasta. 😝

And if by being kind to myself, you mean mainlining my second McDonalds of the day because I can literally feel the life returning to me as I eat piping hot salty fries and a chicken Big Mac… then, yes, I’m being incredible to myself.

Seriously, though, it’s like it’s the only meal that gives me the boost I need at the moment. I’m usually into salad and stuff but the thought of veg is grim. I keep reading all this stuff about slow-release, whole grain carbs and genuinely are these people living in a parallel universe?!

Oh my gosh, thank you! I’m going to ring the doctors tomorrow and see if I can get the anusol and stool softeners because i’m crying on the toilet and wondering how on earth i’m supposed to push a baby out if this pain alone makes me cry 😂
Honestly if this helps, I had an unmedicated birth and with some of my bad bowel movements I’d rather have been giving birth again. Seriously 🙃
A few other non medicine tips:

Drink water, a LOT of it
Fibrous foods
Cut down on starch (potatoes etc)
Don’t force or strain a bowel movement, let it come and take your time
Deep breaths

Let me know how you get on? We don’t talk about this much because it’s to do with going to the loo but the more I’ve been open about it the more common I’ve realised this is among us ladies.

I got referred to fetal medicine by my midwife for what I thought was going to be a scan for the baby because I had a congenital heart defect. Only the midwife didn’t write that on the referral, did she? She wrote “[name of my disability]” which is completely unrelated to my ability to have a healthy pregnancy. Not only does it confirm my suspicions she never listens to a word I say, it meant they hadn’t booked me for the scan they didn’t know I needed so I have to come back again. They also told me I should have been receiving follow ups, so another appointment for my echo. Pfft.

How are you getting on @amarantine?

Also, as someone who is fretting about nausea, did any of you find it got worse week by week? I find it bad enough at almost 7 weeks and am fearing everyone who keeps saying “oh it’s early days yet just you wait till you hit 10 weeks” and I keep crying in fear 😂
Mine hit its absolute worst in week 10, but I just felt horrendous and wasn’t actually sick, not sure how much of that was cyclizine and how much was luck but apparently it can get worse when the placenta begins to take over which is around that point and I think what happened to me. I want to point out though I am a primary school teacher and at that point was teaching year 6 and it was SATs week so I think it was massively exacerbated by tiredness and stress and some days I felt absolutely fine even then! The nausea hung around a bit up until about 16 weeks but mostly when I was really tired and came back a bit towards the end of the third trimester, again when I was really tired which seems to be the pattern with me!

I’m getting on okay, they started the process at 1ish this afternoon and now I’m getting mild but manageable contractions, the worst thing is I’m not sure how bad it’s supposed to get and right now it’s just annoying and uncomfortable but liveable with! Let’s see how it goes! I can’t get comfy staying still unless I’m in childs pose which is random but it also means I’m not sure how I’ll manage to sleep (or at least doze 😂)

I have made it to 22 weeks after my pprom 2 weeks ago. I had put myself on basically bedrest and hardly moving apart to pee and make food. Started to feel baby really kick which is great but wow the heartburn 😭😭😭
Hi Curly, hope you’re doing ok and LittleCurly is behaving. I had PPROM with my three year old and a premature birth/NICU stay so always happy to be a sounding board if needed.

I can recommend Little Heartbeats (https://www.little-heartbeats.org.uk/) who also have an active FB group for PPROM and Bliss for prematurity (not saying this will happen but a good resource…) stay strong mama. These little babies are stronger than we give them credit for.

Tentative return poster - had a strong positive at 4+1 so crossing all fingers and toes and remaining positive… ☺

First dose of morning (afternoon) sickness. I was so smug last week that it hadn’t hit. Oh universe, what a troll.

I’m just having a little moment over the fact that because my blood pressure has been high I am going to be induced on due date (which is tomorrow) and I’m feeling a little bit nervous! I had a sweep on Tuesday which they couldn’t complete as my cervix isn’t ready to go yet so I’m here thinking, poor baby, you won’t know what’s hit you when they induce me because you’re just quite happily chilling in there!

What I can say though (and I know you all know this already) is advocate like hell for what you want as long as it’s okay for baby if you’re ever in a position like this. I was told Monday when I first went in they’d induce on Tuesday. I always knew I didn’t want any medical intervention unless there was a bloody good clinical reason. I’ve just gone back and forth with everything they’ve said asking, okay, what’s the benefit/risk if we do this, is this not an option at all, can we do this to see if we can get anything going naturally, we can see the medication has controlled my BP well so what would be the risk in me taking the medication at home if we’re inducing anyway, and where we’ve got to is that I’m not being induced until my due date and I got to spend two more nights at home than what was originally planned. I’m quite sure MrA and I have been the biggest pains but it’s got us the best outcome we could have hoped for - so don’t worry about “being a pain” and asking all the questions! I have to go into hospital for 8am today so they can give me another dose (it was too late to dispense medication last night) and monitoring but I got to spend last night and hopefully today and tonight at home before baby go day tomorrow so that’s much better than having to stay in!

I ended up phoning triage tonight as baby wasn’t as active as usual. I have now been admitted to the ward overnight for monitoring once again

Congratulations! I have so much respect for anyone who decides to have second and even third babies - BabyA is 3 weeks old and I am never doing this again 😅

Coming up on 11 weeks and I feel like I’m on an emotional rollercoaster. My skin has been so bad, I feel nauseous all the time, my moods are quite frankly the worst. I had very smooth sailing previous pregnancies and felt great/had the glow but this is so different. This baby was planned and very much wanted (our third, my husband and I were extremely lucky to be successful on our first proper time trying) but now I’m having terrible feelings of doubt and guilt. I’ve got my booking appointment on Tuesday, and I’m hoping once I’ve had the first scan I’ll be able to get a grip as it’ll feel real then. I’ve just been so tearful this week and then I feel guilty for feeling like that. 😣
I found the first trimester really hard . This is also our third and I can relate to your feelings of doubt and guilt . I was guilty for being tired and sick , worried that I’d done the wrong thing and our lovely family dynamic would be ruined . I am increasingly anxious at now 23 weeks but less so about those things now . Having the scans has really helped and now I’m feeling baby move a lot I feel really bonded and like they’re meant to be in our family

Hopefully things start to look up for you soon . And never feel guilty , you can be grateful to be pregnant and also hate things about being pregnant simultaneously. Remember that

Back with my weekly nausea rant. After a trip to A&E for some rehydration my gp has agreed to put me on metoclopramide for a short while. One dose in and I’m chugging a mcdonald’s milkshake like it’s the nectar of the gods. I hope it continues to work because I was in a seriously bad place

Tiredness has HIT and wow it's hit hard :ROFLMAO: my apps guesstimate me at 4w 3d, I forgot about the insane tiredness from last time!
The tiredness took me by surprise too. I was barely functional. I slept CONSTANTLY and then would get dehydrated. I don’t know why we must be punished like this in the first trimester, but it ain’t tor the weak 😅

So the glucose test wasn’t as disgusting as I thought it would be. Although the last couple of gulps was a bit of a struggle. However got tea and toast from the midwives afterwards and that was great! This was because I needed to get my whooping cough vaccine and I assume it’s because they didn’t want me to keel over haha.

It was nice having the midwives there during the waiting period as I was able to talk to them about everything that was in my head and I had a minor meltdown and they’ve booked me in for a reassurance next week. I think basically since I had my scare on week 6 I’m still a bit nervous. They definitely have put my on a list to check for mental health. Whoops. I did come back and have a cry at my husband as I was feeling a bit overwhelmed. But feeling better today (except my arm with my vaccine lol).

I did ask about the leg cramps and they suggested nettle tea (which I had never heard about) and also magnesium but I’ll need to double check what dosage.

I’d finally started to relax the last few days as my tests got insanely dark last week and I’ve had no pain or cramping or any reason to worry at all. But now today I’ve had some brown discharge and some red on wiping tonight so I can’t help but feel like the worst is happening. My husband is trying to reassure me and tell me it’s probably because I’ve done a lot (true I have been non stop but the house isn’t gonna run itself is it) and he’s said I need to take it easy now - which yeah right I’m sure he’ll forget all about that tomorrow. I’ve left the living room a state and got in bed. I wonder if it will look the same in the morning.

My experience of bleeding in last pregnancy was an absolute shit show getting any help. I thought I was just miscarrying and I wanted it on my records but GP said to go straight to A+E, thought that was extreme so I called 111 instead for their advice and they said if I wouldn’t make my way to A+E they’d get me an ambulance. 😳 A+E didn’t do anything other than a cheap test strip and told me I’d miscarried, but referred me to EPAU Incase things got worse. The bleeding did slow down but my tests got darker so I did call to go into EPAU but they wouldn’t see me until 2 weeks after my referral date. So I just got left in a shit limbo of no clue what was going on in my body. Thankfully he’s 10months now..

I will see how the next day goes but I think I might just arrange to speak to GP on Monday and just straight up ask for a referral after my last pregnancy and having a miscarriage before. The anxiety is too much. I hate that this is happening before Christmas, there is just so much to do and I can’t cope with it 😭
things seem to be less today but of course I still feel worried. I really hope it was because i did too much. Will still message GP tomorrow and hopefully get a referral to epau, I can’t deal with the anxiety 😭

have to say my husband has been an absolute superstar today, I honestly can’t believe it!! Why can’t he get this much stuff done on a normal non-working day?? 🤣 I even got to have a little nap while our youngest was sleeping too !! I feel a bit bad that his Christmas presents are a bit naff now 😂
