Recently finished HBHP and I thought it was really good. There are weekly classes, plus online videos and weekly Q&A’s so you can learn a lot. The course leader was a working midwife.

The group was fairly small, 7 couples and we are quite spread out so not sure how much we will all stay in touch going forward. We are meeting up before Christmas though.

Anyone have any experience of NCT classes vs Happy Parents, Happy Baby? Thank you
We did NCT, and really enjoyed it. We had a really good group though and I’m sure this can make a difference! We’re forever messaging in our NCT mum group and I’m the last one (due Friday, no baby yet!) so it has been super useful to hear all their advice and what their experiences are! It is a bit expensive to do NCT but I would say worth it!

I’ve only done HPHB and was really impressed. I’d heard all this stuff about some teachers in NCT being a bit old fashioned, breast is best bla bla and I experienced none of that at HPHB. I liked their portal that you can go back to all the time (I’ve revisited first aid and breastfeeding content).
The get to know other parents to be was organic and not cringey (you know the classic ice breaker games 🙄)

Our NCT teacher was very good tbh, no judgement over things like cosleeping and breastfeeding, just very factual and practical. My group happened to all be a group who wanted to breastfeed and the ones who have had their babies are breastfeeding, so we talked a lot about it but I don’t feel like she would have judged anyone if she said they wanted to formula feed. I can see how some might come across a bit old fashioned though!

I only popped into triage for what I felt were slightly reduced movements at about 5:30, we are still here at 11:04 with me on blood pressure medication because my blood pressure was high and there is now talk of induction tomorrow - this was not on my Monday bingo card 😂🤦‍♀️ isn’t pregnancy fun!!

Well I am still here 😂😑 they do say hospitals are hot but seriously I am a cold sleeper (drive MrA mad by sleeping with the window open even in winter!) and I have never been more uncomfortable! They’re still recommending induction in the next 24-48 hours - I guess the silver lining if that happens is I won’t be having baby over Christmas 😂

After having my 12 week scan end of November my anxiety decreased so much but in the last week it’s ramping back up 😭 I’ve got my 16 week midwife appointment this week and I’m so anxious it’s gonna be bad news like I was in the lead up to the first scan 🫠 I don’t know what’s going on because when I was pregnant with Little Parsley I had zero anxiety, but with this one I’m just stressing out and think every appointment is gonna be bad news. Hopefully once they’re a little bigger and I’m feeling proper kicks that’ll put my mind at ease, but I also thought the first scan would kill off my anxiety and lol couldn’t be more wrong

I was like this with my second. Everything felt too good to be true so I would “prepare” myself for something awful. I’m currently nursing my 12 week old who is as far as we know happy and healthy ❤

I think that’s what it is - we were so fortunate with this little bean that we conceived so quickly and so now I’m like “We’ve been too lucky and it’s too good to be true”. Thank you so much for this it’s immensely reassuring ❤ also literally just about to pick up Little Parsley from nursery and sat in my car and just felt first flutters as typing this 🥹 I hope you and your little one are doing marvellously ❤❤ thank you so much for making me feel like I’m not alone in this anxiety spiral xxx

Similar to you I was unexpectedly brought in and recommended induction. It's impossible to rest , I remember how uncomfortable I was also and sore but do try and rest as I inductions are exhausting mentally and physically. Hope it goes well for you and think about baby snuggles

They are going to do a sweep later and see if we can get stuff going naturally, if not I think I will be back on Thursday for induction. They have said that I can go home though if we decide on Thursday as long as my blood pressure behaves itself, so I guess we will see! I’m hoping our baby will be one of those who sort of “knows” they’re about to be induced so starts to come of their own accord but I think we may have a stubborn one 😂

You never know , be great if you can go home in the middle of it and try to rest.

In terms of having baby downstairs chilling, what have people gone for? The only sleep item I have at the moment is a Snuz for upstairs so not sure whether to go with the lil play mats/non roll changing pads but have also seen bassinets (even though they grow out of them kinda quick).

My bassinet for my buggy is sleep safe so I got a stand off Amazon and he used to sleep in that 😊

For our second we got this as a gift from my parents, lasted until 7 months for us 😅
though he could’ve easily been taking naps in his cot by then, I just knew putting it away meant he was growing up 😭

will be using it for next baby if everything works out 🤞

I’d get something for sure though, we had something similar for our first but it had to be chucked as got moldy in storage unfortunately

We’ve got a Snuz for downstairs and a next to me for upstairs but our bassinet for our buggy is also sleep safe so we’re planning to use that if we brave being somewhere other than home, namely probably just my parents’ place down the road 😂 the next to me was inherited from family but I think we would have got one anyway, we felt it was best to have a “proper” sleep solution (hah! Famous last words!) for both upstairs and downstairs!
