Pregnancy and postpartum has definitely thought me a few life lessons and one was showing up for people... I was always available when people asked or even when they didn't ask id offer... Learnt I was very much on my own and I have withdrawn myself a lot. Same with work I couldn't give a f... About going the extra mile , I do my bit and get my wages

Complete spiral after finding out my placenta is completely covering the cervix / os and is “very centrally attached”. I will be rescanned in 10 weeks but told today it is very unlikely to move, they see low placentas all the time and if one isn’t going to move, it will be mine as it’s so low and posterior. Of course I’m now thinking about placenta accreta, been told I will have a scheduled c-section if it doesn’t move but with a section for placenta previa, there is a 1 in 10 chance of a full hysterectomy and a 1 in 5 chance of massive haemorrhage. Even one spot of blood to go straight to the hospital, ambulance if blood is significant. If bleeding occurs significantly then will be an inpatient until delivery. Along with the upcoming glucose test, this is all just too much… Reading the leaflet provided and the link to RCOG site on it says significant risk of morbidity and mortality for both me and the baby. Baby was perfect on the scan and now I can’t even appreciate that due to these worries.

I know this is not necessarily helpful as MrA and his “unsung hero” talk was particularly popular in here the other day (🤣) but this sounds like what he gets with his reflux/heartburn. He does say omeprazole helps. Obviously he is decidedly un-pregnant but it does sound very similar to his symptoms!
That’s what an unsung hero would say x

😂

Just got genetic screening resulting back showing baby has a 1 in 98 risk of trisomy 13/18. Ultrasound looked normal and NT was normal, so im trying not to spiral but fuckity fuck. Being booked in for follow up testing next week.

I’m absolutely thrilled that I changed the bedsheets today, a task that took me about two hours to recover from, only to wake up just now with a huge nosebleed all over the covers 👍

Weirdly enough everybody seems to have chilled out about my mystery protein trace. Went to the Day Unit for my five hours sitting in a cubicle on Monday and the doctor and obstetrics registrar were like "ehhhhh well guess you're just a protein pisser, it happens" (*). Had obstetrics clinic today and different obstetrics registrar was like "ehhhh dunno why, just seems to be the case, your bloods are consistently fine so eh, have some iron tablets though your ferritin is low" (which explains why I've been feeling a reet slug recently)
They'll up my monitoring once I'm into 32 weeks and then again once 36 weeks but whatever that blood test is they do to assess pre-eclampsia risk where if you're 30 or above you're high risk, I got 2.5 so 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ they might decide to induce me at bang on 40 weeks but I've also got a low lying placenta (which probably won't be an issue as it was 0.1cm closer to cervix than their limit so will probs have sorted itself out) so may have to have a C section anyway. WFK
I'm not completely free of being monitored but they're happy to space it out a bit more now 👌👌👌👌

(*) Poetic licence my own
I hope you’re adding ‘protein pisser’ to your LinkedIn profile!

Had my 34 week midwife appointment today, blood pressure up by 20 in the 110s, midwife's face went all sombre and I've been immediately sent off to triage 🙃🙃🙃 what a day for it, husband has got an important presentation this afternoon and we've got electricians in so I'm here by myself.
Work has been an utter shitshow, my "meeting to sign off stress risk assessment" which took place earlier this week degenerated into my bully manager trying to start an argument with my union rep, and HR hadn't shared any paperwork with me until half a day before, and my Manager and the head of my area had written MY risk assessment for me, and it was then them arguing with me saying what I've said caused me stress didn't happen or why I'm wrong about it or why I shouldn't be upset about them saying things like "LilyK needs more instructions than other individuals" to do with my being autistic 🙃🙃🙃 (just say I need clear instructions??? you don't need to compare me to other people!!!)
Got out of my midwife appointment reeling about having to go triage to a pissy message from my manager about how there's lots of emails in the inbox and my other two colleagues are now off til next week Better pull your finger out then love cos it's just you now 👁👄👁.
Will probably sob about all of this at the obstetric doctor cos I can't deal any more or bear to do another of those meetings
Baby's fine though
Glad baby’s fine! What an utter shit show at work though, I think you could probably bring a case for discrimination honestly. If I, as a teacher who does this a lot, was writing a document for an autistic child I would say “X needs clear instruction and may need instructions repeating to aid processing” rather than some patronising crap about “needing more instructions” and I literally teach 8-10 year olds. So you, as a proper actual adult, should never have such patronising crap on your own risk assessment or documents - how rude! Just get yourself signed off, that level of stress is no good for you or for baby. They can shove their paperwork, doctor’s note should be sufficient for you to be off work with stress.

I think we must have almost the exact same due date as I had my 34 week appt yesterday and I am currently thinking about getting signed off because it is such a stressful environment I’m working in. I said that I was surprised some feedback I got didn’t take into consideration my pregnancy and my boss told me they were just standards and expectations which should not be related to pregnancy 😑 not sure how much I can be arsed to fight it when I’ve got 4 weeks left until mat leave. If I was to get signed off I’d be the third person to go since September which says quite a lot about this place…

Hi all. Tentatively joining this thread again! Just found out I’m pregnant with baby number 2. If all goes well they will be 19 months apart. I’m feeling a bit shell shocked as we got pregnant on our first cycle trying again. I’m 4 weeks 😬

Hi All 👋

I’m 37 FTM at around 20 weeks following recurrent missed miscarriages. I don’t think it’s sunk in yet that this pregnancy might end well with me taking a baby home. I was getting more relaxed and excited but had a little bleed which terrified me. Triage checked me out all ok thank goodness, but now I’ve lost a bit of the buzz but slowly trying to get it back. Think I will feel better after 20 week scan next week.

I have an anterior placenta so can’t feel loads but started to feel what feels like popping like baby’s kicking or punching me (feels like being flicked with a finger internally) I don’t feel it regularly/to a consistent pattern yet but I think it’s getting stronger.

Also struggling with pelvic girdle pain and having no symptom relief from the belt or pillow between legs, keeping legs together etc etc.., my midwife helpfully described how she once saw a woman dislocate her pelvis during labour because of weak cartilage so now I’m mildly terrified!

just wanted to say hello 😊

MrA had a diva fit this evening because “he is the unsung hero” in this 😂🤦‍♀️ so maybe not quite no longer a diva but better than he was! It sounds like your partner needs a bit of a kick up the bum with his job situation - either he has to put up with it or do something about it! Something better might well come along, if he looks for it first! Hopefully baby now on the way will mean he’s a bit more proactive - or he is just more accepting of his job to enable things to be easier whilst you’re pregnant and when baby is here. MrA hasn’t worked for half my pregnancy because he got made redundant in the summer then really struggled to find another job - he has one now but it won’t start until January, when I’ll be off and earning less 🤦‍♀️

Haha yes, regarding the hormones there will be more times of rage/tears/both 😂 I was a bit all over the place early in my first trimester, then settled down a bit and second trimester was mostly relatively calm, now I have three weeks to go and I keep crying for absolutely no reason so it’s all fun and games 😂 MrA asked me the other day if I wanted something or something else for dinner (can’t remember what!) and I burst into tears because I didn’t know and couldn’t decide so yeah…it’s fun…
Unsung hero?

Just had my final growth scan and babies are measuring 7lbs 5 and 6lbs 7, I know they can be quite inaccurate but I honestly wouldn't be surprised😅 I'm in so much pain constantly, I'm just so ready for them to come out in 3 days😬

32 weeks today, this just feels like such a milestone🥹 I was higher risk for premature labour with my son and then when I found out this pregnancy I was carrying twins my anxiety went through the roof and I really was expecting I'd have already given birth by now. I know I still have 5 weeks until I'm full term but I just feel like every day that goes by the chances of a positive outcome are more likely🤞
Omg we’re date twins!! I’m at risk of preterm labour this time so v happy to have made it this far too!! ❤❤

Such awesome tips from c section mummies. I’m just reading all of them and thinking man how fucking amazing women are. Major surgery and it’s a spot of ibruprofen after 😂

I tore both times - didn’t feel it as I was high as a kite on gas & air. But can you imagine men walking around with stitches in their penis and having to breastfeed/ look after a baby?! Sheeesh. Having said that though my husband is pretty incredible and I do have a son so now I feel guilty for man bashing because he is the most wonderful little boy. 🙈

I have my 12 week NHS scan today. I think I’m actually around 13 weeks and because I have a one year old I keep forgetting I’m pregnant (apart from the first few weeks of nausea and fatigue). I really hope everything is ok as we haven’t had any scans at all so far. Hoping it’ll sink it after that we are actually doing this again!

Hi, and thank you. Congratulations to you also. I haven’t got any proper symptoms, I don’t think? I feel a bit sick, especially on the evening - couldn’t eat tonight cuz I just felt repulsed and gaggy at food but not sure if that’s the mounjaro, as obviously I’m only 3 days out from my jab. I feel tired, although I don’t sleep great, so not necessarily pregnancy related. And I have intermittent “period” pain & back ache, which is what’s putting me on edge the most. Sometimes feel like my period could come that very second. Bit headache-y too. So, actually, saying I don’t think I have any symptoms and then listing some which actually are probably early pregnancy. Feel a bit like a fraud/like I don’t know what I’m doing/like it’s too early to feel these things. I’ve had 8 MC, never found out I was pregnant this early, normally around the 7 week mark and then mc within the 2 weeks after that. Sorry for rambling. I don’t want to burden RL people and feel like they’re rolling their eyes at me, people do this every day kind of thing 🙈
The very first thing you’re going to do is not apologise. Pregnancy is wonderful but really scary and that’s without the losses you’ve had to endure. This (these) thread(s) are a safe space for you to download in and know that you aren’t alone.
Secondly it’s not too early at all for symptoms. You’re not a fraud. Pregnancy does nutty things to our bodies.

sending lots of positive and sticky baby thoughts x

A woman I work with keeps asking me “how are the hormones” instead of how are YOU, and I honestly am close to knocking her one. What is it with pregnancy and my complete inability to tolerate any bullshit or nosey questions. I am sick of being asked by colleagues when I’m finishing up, when I’m coming back (hopefully never) and if I’ve any appointments coming up. Mind your fucking business. I know people are only asking out of politeness and no one actually gives a crap but it doesn’t make it any less annoying. I must sound like a nightmare to work with. I’m actually not lol, and my mood is actually always stable and upbeat. It’s just internally I’m fucking them all out of it and counting down the days until I get to close the door behind me

Yesssss! Congratulations Muff, Mr Muff and Baby Muff. At the risk of being heteronormative, I’m currently raising what could be a great husband/life partner for Baby Muff 🤣 would be a great ending to our shared story!

So glad you are both well. What a hero for getting through on G&A and codeine.
Wouldn’t that be a tale!!! We are very fond of Scots (mr muff’s dad is from aberdeeeeeeen) so very excited be in laws 😂

what a journey we’ve been on eh? So glad we both had post Christmas sex 😂❤

The only food aversion I’ve had this entire pregnancy was coffee in my first trimester, which was honestly totally heartbreaking for someone who usually had a coffee to start every day plus another 3 or 4 cups the rest of the day 😬 I am fine with it now, but weirdly have got very jittery if I do have a proper coffee so have stuck to decaf. No judgement whatsoever from me on what others choose, pregnancy is absolutely hard enough without dealing with other people’s opinions and unsolicited advice!!
I wonder was your drink of choice an oat latte.
