I posted on here a few months back about how upset I was because I stupidly felt forced to tell my sister and mum about our potential name choices.

They were both horrible about our choices 😭 and it really upset me.
Now that I’m heavily pregnant and carried my baby girl and loved her and looked after her I think duck if you have zero right to have any say in our name choices
I remember that and well done!

I told my friend last week about our boy name - was silence for a few seconds and then she told me a story about a family who have a son with this name who are a troubled family with police, crime etc. Didn’t say anything positive. We’re still keeping the name but I felt she should have said something even like ‘nice name’. I would have even if I didn’t like it.

My Mum also has no filter or poker face. The look of sheer disappointment when I told her we were having a boy stays with me and MrDragName. I’d definitely let the whole family down there 🤣 She won’t say she doesn’t like the name, she will just have it all over her face and go quiet and go ‘oh….’. She has had a lot to say over what other people have named their kids as well.

I thought knowing the gender would make it easier to choose a name, but still don't have a clue! We do have a list of a few names we like but I'm hoping once she's here that one will just click. 😂 Just need her to hurry up and make her appearance now!

I have to say, once baby is here name connotations change. When my sister told me her baby name I admit I internally thought “ok interesting” and then she was born and I only associate that name with my wonderful nibling 🥰

people are weird when they let their inside voice out and honestly unless you were thinking of making your kid a name like Shmitler - people just need to keep their opinions to themselves.

God bless my mum In law. She literally just cares that all is well with me and bubs. Whatever name we choose she’ll love it 🥰
She’s very relaxed and sweet and completely opposite to my judgy mum and sister.

I realise Ive totally lucked out on having such a wonderful mum In law ❤ but it helps balance out my opinionated mum and sister (my dad and brother rightly couldn’t give a tit about baby names)

Our list of 4 names ….one on our list I know my sister hates and told me early on I couldn’t use it 👌
The one name I adore which is the one I’m hoping we go for will cause so much tit. It’s not traditional and a little different (nothing bizarre) but it’s not a classic traditional name x

Tenderly popping in here to say hi. I'm about 6weeks and 2days and incredibly nervous. Sickness has kicked in big time and I've struggled to keep much down the past few days, although I've just managed to eat cold McDonald's chips, which I'm taking as a win. Has anyone had a private reassurance scan at around 7weeks and can tell me how they found it and what they saw? ❤

Omg the piles 😭😫 I had them last time but I swear not this early at 17 weeks 😭 I ate something that upset my tummy and now here we are! I forgot how agonising it is and I can’t even stay sat down with a toddler.

I had one booked if for 7 weeks but actually had some bleeding the week before so ended up at the epu at 6+4. Saw not one, but two wiggly beans and their heartbeats! We thought we were 6+6 but were dated a couple of days behind (which makes sense as my cycle is a little longer).

I didn't have a private scan at 7 weeks but did end up at the EPU at 6 weeks and could see a smudge that looked a bit like the outline of a gingerbread man and a moving smudge that was heartbeat. They wouldn't have me in any sooner because no point, so there'll definitely be something to see at 7 weeks.

I've had so much intense period type cramping this evening and just cannot get comfortable. I've had cramping on and off the last week but tonight is something else, it's not like surges though it's constant. People always say you will know when your having contractions but I feel so clueless!

I had an nhs scan at 7 weeks (due to medical history) and they can detect the heartbeat and fetal pole x

Ring the maternity unit for peace of mind 😄

My period cramping turned into contractions. I wouldn’t expecting you to ‘know’ from the cramping, but once it’s contractions I swear you will know!

Sorry I am not on this thread frequently anymore so I don’t know how many weeks you are but I had period type cramping and just felt uncomfortable, I was 40+3, at 40+6 I went to routine antenatal appointment and was 5cm dilated and had no idea 🤣 contractions started after that first examination and I definitely felt the difference then, but if it’s you are nearing the end it’s definitely possible it’s something 🤣

My due date is actually tomorrow ,😬 it's eased off and then been like waves, but I don't think it's contractions yet! But am hoping it is a sign they will follow soon! It's so hard when you have no point of reference!

I thought I was 7 weeks but was actually 6. I saw a smudge that did not remotely resemble a baby, but it was a smudge with a heartbeat that was grooving away quite happily and there was enough going on that the sonographer could tell things were as ok as they possibly could be at that point. It would have been cool to have seen more than that but it was still extremely special. And welcome! Sorry the sickness is so tough on you. I only had nausea rather than full on sickness, nibbling little and often helped me but that’s probably tit advice when you’re being sick.

Rough AF night with heartburn. Everything I ate in the evening had been problematic so I’d had some Rennies in the evening, and then lying down to sleep was a disaster, at 3am I woke up feeling like the acid was in my mouth. I mega propped myself up and took a couple of Rennies which helped except it was a bit uncomfortable on my back to have it tilted up so much.

My bladder’s become a disaster as well. I am seeing a specialist physio about that, although given that it turns out my bladder is overactive anyway, I don’t think there will be much she can do for me till after the boy is born. I can see this is the really sexy part of pregnancy, haha!

Anyhoo so this is not all moaning, I’m curious about raspberry leaf tea (and maybe date-eating)- anyone got my opinions either way? I like a herbal tea so I’m game to give it a go but is it one of those things that probably does nothing or does it really help? I’m also curious about birth plans and resources to help me start thinking about it. The boy is still breech, everyone is telling me there is still time for him to turn so I am cracking on with not considering a caesarean, which I really don’t want for the recovery time alone. But, I have no idea. I did get this massive book from the midwife about pregnancy and labour and beyond but it didn’t really say that much. So, where can I go to read?

I absolutely hear you on the heartburn/acid reflux. I’m having to eat smaller portions because I just don’t have room. Then it feels like whatever I ate just sits in vomit form in my esophagus. I’m not needing the loo but I’m waking at 2/3am and struggling to get back to sleep for ages. Then I have to keep turning like a rotisserie chicken. So yeah pregnancy has kicked my butt the last few days. I’m hoping my body adjusts because I do not want to wish for this baby to come early! 😭

I’ve no idea about how baby is positioned but nothing was said at my last app a few days ago so I’m assuming not to be concerned. We’ve still got time (hopefully!). I didn’t eat dates or drink raspberry leaf in my first pregnancy and little one was 3 weeks early - with an extremely fast labour. I’m just trying to do my pelvic floor exercises as regularly as I can and stretch 🙈
