My obgyn gave me magnesium to avoid cramps. I've been also having a banana or half a banana everyday.

I think I’ve misunderstood those bedside cribs. I think I assumed the crib mattress would be broadly the same height as our mattress and what was left of the side once you’d folded it down to the co-sleeping position would act as the ‘barrier’ between crib and bed. Our bed is really high so we couldn’t find much that we thought was suitable. But now I’m thinking I’ve got the wrong end of the stick and it’s ok for the crib mattress to be a bit lower than the adult’s mattress?

Am I even making sense?!

Maybe you can buy something like this is if your bed is big enough? I don't put the link since I've mentioned I'm not from uk.

We have the snuzpod4 and the metal barrier strip part of the folded down side sits flush with our mattress and the cribs mattress is slightly lower down x

Also to add- in the first 6 months we used a bjorn bouncer which wasn’t cheap but it was used LOADS!
Someone bought me this off my registry, can you attach a handle to it with toys dangling down? I’ve seen some people do it but haven’t tried!

What are you all thinking for travel systems? I find the whole pram thing completely overwhelming (and expensive) and have no idea where to even begin. Some of them look so big and clunky and awkward and I quite fancy something nippy enough. Had a bit of a look in a few shops yesterday and think I’ve an idea of what I’d like for most of the bits but the pram I am completely lost
We tried quite a few but settled on the Cybex Priam, with the Cybex cloud T car seat. Haven’t used it yet but it feels really good quality and sturdy!

Does anyone have anything to help cramp? My left calf is driving me insane as it’s constantly waking me up 🫠🫣
Yep I was also going to say apparently the magnesium butter I posted on here helps with cramps but I can’t attest to it x

Yes we got the spinny toy attachment but he didn’t really engage with it until he was 3/4 months old! The bouncer was great for getting the bowels moving. Had a few poonamis after bouncing 🤣

Another Baby Bjorn bouncer lover here 🙌🏼 It was also excellent at making Baby Lava poo when he got bunged up. Bought it second hand and probably used it every day from about a month old to 5 months.

Every baby is different but I would personally say if you can avoid buying mega expensive “containers” because you don’t even know if babe will like it until they’re here. Some don’t tolerate being put down or prefer the motion of a baby swing or bouncer. A lot of people I know loved the Graco/Joie 3 in 1 swing and you can always get those second hand off marketplace.

Really recommend magnesium glycinate. Lots of research to show it helps with sleep, nerve pains nausea and all the joys of pregnancy. I was always a good sleeper before pregnancy then as soon as I was pregnant I had insomnia. Magnesium glycinate is the only thing that means I sleep well. If I forget to take it I can tell the difference.

I wonder if this will work for restless legs too as this is currently driving me crazy in the evenings 😂

If you buy things second hand you can always sell them on for around the same price if your baby doesn’t like it.

Definitely happy to buy stuff second hand, the bedside crib I was eyeing up just appeared locally on marketplace for a lot cheaper than new, even when I factor in the cost of buying a new mattress for it, that’s a total win to me! It seems all these convoluted chairs that do a thousand things at once between 0-12 years all have fabric padding when it’s a high chair and I’m thinking that’s a no. The Tripp Trapp looks kind of uncomfortable though? I’m sure it’s not because something that’s £300 should be pure luxuries haha! I just really want a bouncer that can be up high on a stand or sit on the floor depending on what Junior and I are up to on any given day, then I think the ikea high chair would be a winner.

we did the free baby appointment at John Lewis and I highly recommend! Beforehand we highlighted products we needed more info on [for us it was prams, car seats, and next to me options]. They send a short questionnaire by email to narrow down options and take you through all of them instore. The appointment was 90 minutes and we were clueless beforehand but feel we've chosen something now suited to our lifestyle [e.g. country vs city living] and budget. They also offer 10% off via email after the appointment!

I take a magnesium 3 in 1 supplement from Nutrition Geeks. One of the magnesiums present in it can have a mild laxative effect and therefore it’s faffing brilliant for me who keeps being constipated all the time. Bonus that it’s nice to muscles and helps get a half decent sleep.

that being said, the only time I’ve slept the whole night through like a log since finding out I was pregnant was the night after the whole baby-dodging-the-doppler stress that caused me to be extremely upset for a short period of time and then mentally exhausted after. I’d rather the insomnia, thanks 🤣

My first loved their borrowed cheapie Joie bouncer so this time I splashed out on the Baby Bjorn - baby wasn't interested at all  They were a un-putdown-able velcro baby from day one so had I have waited I may not have bothered. Definitely think it's good to do the research before they arrive and you have the time but if it's not something you need from birth, hold off buying. Also you don't waste your warranty period that way for electrical stuff.

I found a weighted blanket and magnesium tablets really helped with crampy restless legs.

Re highchairs, we like Ikea too but whatever you buy don't go for something with really splayed legs. They're such a pain in the a, total trip hazard and take up a ton of space.

Ohhhh good point! The thing I liked about the really fancy all in one things was you can fold them up to store them. My dining room is quite small/has quite a lot of furniture in it. Oooh, decisions decisions!

Yes that’s the one negative about the IKEA chair. It does get in the way if you’ve got limited space and you can trip over the legs sometimes. Other than that I love it!

We had a fancy highchair for our first which I want to say was a Tutti Bambini. I thought it looked amazing on paper, I hated it 😂 you couldn’t fold it away, the table on it was tiny and could barely have a normal size dish on it etc.
my mum had like an Argos own one which was fab! And could fold away! I’m getting one of these this time haha!
