I am feeling the fatigue today as well. I have starting using my annual leave up so I am only working 3 or 4 days a week now before I start maternity in July.
Even that feels like a lot, I am so drained and feeling like I get so breathless so easily now! It's all fun and games 😂

Places that sell decaf drinks;

So far I’ve found Costa decaff tea & a few from Starbucks I am yet to try.

Tango, 7up, sprite, coke no caffeine.

I’m struggling and need others please x

Has anyone recently flown BA and needed a fit to fly certificate? I stupidly thought you just needed them in the third tri…

you do but BA want one regardless of trimester which is a bit annoying… I flew Jet2 and Tui in pregnancy and it was after the 27/28th week they needed a letter. We had almost booked BA flights and I had been looking at that too! I guess if you don’t LOOK pregnant yet? You might not be asked? (I forget how many weeks you are already). But there’s always the chance they guess or can see and don’t allow you to fly.

I know and I’m so bad at lying 🙈😂 I spoke to my drs surgery and they can do one but costs £38. Which is fine. If annoying.

errrrrrr I had to call in sick to work today and I'm not even entirely sure why, I am just so fatigued and I was awake half the night and the nausea is bad, but I feel a reet weakling for it lol
Honestly, you’re not a weakling. It is HARD. I came close to doing this so many times. I am deliberately scheduling as little as possible for Fridays because by then I’m ruined and my brain doesn’t work. I’ve been strategically operating a sort of flexi-time system where I put in an extra half hour to an hour at the start of the week to mitigate against potentially needing to sack off the very end of a week. It’s not fatigue like I’ve ever experienced before! If you feel like you need rest then rest!

Irn Bru 1901 recipe is caffeine free if you happen to be an irn bru puritan like me who will not touch the ‘new’ stuff with sweeteners in it! I think normal irn bru actually has caffeine. Nero have a nice lemonade drink that I had the other week. Summer time means the return of all those ice slushie things so caffeine free drinks become a bit easier I think!

In terms of stuff you can buy in shops rather than cafe’s, check out rubicon for lots of fruity flavours, I love rubicon passion fruit. Sometimes found in the world foods aisle depending on where you live and how diverse an area it is! There are still versions in big cartons but I’m very much in my fizzy pop era. Also Aldi do an imitation San Pellegrino lemonade that I really like.

I have a soda stream and it’s come into its own. I bought a catering size bottle of pink lemonade syrup and also have elderflower cordial and am a ribena fanatic and all are great with fizzy water and no caffeine.

just watch when I get gestational diabetes from my fizzy drink addiction!

im editing to add that I have worked out you can technically have one cup of caffeinated coffee like a filter coffee (I don’t drink tea so I haven’t worked that out!) a day AND one can of caffeinated coke. Coke doesn’t have nearly as much caffeine in it as I thought. I don’t do this every day, it’s a once in a while treat but it’s a glorious treat when I do indulge! I’m going to have to make myself a fizzy pop with my soda stream tonight now I’ve rattling on about fizzy drinks. I also love fruit teas (which have no caffeine in them) and have done for forever so can recommend a few if you like?

I’ve really been enjoying the Artisan tonic waters as a “exciting” drink in the evening. You can get them on Amazon or Ocado - the blood orange one is great, as is the ginger and lime one. Not too sweet either!

I think I overdid it with the zero Prosecco at the weekend as was at a family gathering and drank at least a bottle and a half 🙈 I swear I had a worse headache yesterday morning than some of my worst hangovers. And now I feel guilty that I overdid it on the sugar and hope I didn’t do any damage when I’ve been so good with being healthy. Husband is telling me to kindly cop on, that there are women out there who wouldn’t give themselves such a hard time after drinking actual alcohol! Why must everything be so thought consuming 😆

God I'm really slowing down now and aching all over by the end of the day. Suddenly hit me these last few days. I can see why people are over it at the end.

Yeah I’m 20 weeks and as a helpful lady today said “oh my gosh you’re going to get so big given how big you are already!” Cheers!

I had my 20 week scan today. You’ll remember I had a total meltdown over my 2 NHS 12 week scans because the sonographer was horrible and I ended up raising it as an informal complaint. I did know I would have a different sonographer as the horrible one doesn’t do 20 week scans, and my previous midwife (who herself has just gone on mat leave with baby number 2) said that this sonographer that does 20 week scans was amazing. She was soooo right. If there was ever an example of someone loving their job it was her. She asked my husband his name so she knew who she was talking with, asked me how the pregnancy was going and if I had any concerns. I said I wasn’t sure if I could feel any movements yet and she reassured me about that. She talked me through how the scan would be before we even started. She was so positive and happy and seemed so excited for MrDragName and I. When MrDragName joked that he could never tell what he was looking at she was really reassuring about it and explained how scanning worked etc. She went to great lengths to check I was comfortable during the scan even when she had to press and move about (compared with the 12 week horror who actually hurt me with her antics). I think navigating my extra bit of large was a bit of a challenge but she said nothing and didn’t tut or fuss, just moved about and checked all the things she needed to. She confirmed what our private NIPT had told us, we’re having a boy ❤ (I did know the NIPT being wrong is basically not possible but I’d got it in my head she might be like ‘it’s a girl!’ Haha!). She tried all sorts but he took every opportunity possible to hide his face and she seemed genuinely a bit disappointed she hadn’t been able to get us a still shot where you could see him in profile, but she had been so thorough with all the checks I didn’t even mind. She got us a good snap of him all bundled up and funny one of him face on where he looks a bit like a ghost boy (we have a similar image from our private 12 week scan where he looks like a tiny demon). He got a clean bill of health, my placenta is posterior and out of the way of my cervix and the blood flow is healthy. His heartbeat is healthy and it was incredible to hear. If the worst had happened and she had seen something that was a concern, I feel really confident she would have been able to tell us in a very clear and gentle way where we would have known what was going on.

It was the absolute opposite of my 12 week scan experience and I’m so grateful for it. I did tell her she was amazing but I am equally going to raise it so her manager knows, because clearly the horrible sonographer could learn a HUGE amount from today’s one. It’s really put me at ease and made me excited for the second half of the pregnancy!

Tomorrow I’m back down to earth with a bump, though. Physio appointment for my nighttime weak and leaky bladder which I’m honestly just soooo embarrassed about. I am seriously impressed with the speed of the referral though, given how under pressure the NHS is. Hoping I might be able to squeeze in asking for some advice around my bad lower back as it’s going to become more challenging the more pregnant I get!

34+1 and I’ve hit a wall today. I’m really hoping when people say newborn plus toddler is easier than pregnant plus toddler that they’re not lying! 4 more weeks at work to go and considering finishing earlier. I really want to maximise time with baby though and went 15 days overdue first time so not sure what to do 😭

I’m only 12 days in to newborn and toddler and I may retract this statement later, but it’s 100x easier than pregnant with a toddler. I had a section so I’m limited to what I can do and my husband is super supportive which makes all the difference, but pregnancy was a whole different ball game! Hang in there mamma, you’re doing amazing.

I’m feeling this so much, I’m 34+2 with a 3 year old. I feel so miserable tonight I’ve come upstairs to just have a cry 😂 I’m too hot and I can’t get comfortable in any way; and everything is irritating me 😭😭

newborn and toddler was easy to a point for us … it felt like for the first 6 weeks all my baby did was sleep and rarely cried, after that hell broke loose 😭😭 it did get easier again at 12 weeks .. and we still have bad days but you figure things out to make things work and it does get easier again.

all babies are different of course but for 6 weeks I really thought what on earth have we done 😭😭😭
