Thank you for all the love 🥹❤ I just don’t know what to do now haha! How do I get a midwife? Do I just call the midwifery department and tell them I’m pregnant? 🤣 Is it a catchment area thing, or can I pick which hospital? Is there anything else I need to do? 😂 I’ve already been taking folic acid for 8 months so I’m good on that front!
depending on your area you can send online forms or get the number direct to register - some people have to go through their GP, I just googled my trust name and maternity services and it told me what to do. GP surgery website sometimes has phone numbers/links also!

ETA: I still think it’s strange no one tested my urine for pregnancy 😂

so excited your here woooo 🥳🥳🩷🩷

Did anyone else absolutely hate the taste of their own saliva? I feel sick every time I swallow which makes me produce more saliva 🤢

Thanks for all the advice! Yes I’m in the U.K. ☺ I’m going to contact my GP tomorrow and let them know, and then hopefully be in touch with midwife services 💓 glad I can choose the hospital I want my care to be at!

@Greencatfysh congratulations!! Wishing you all the best for the coming week 🥰😘

Same - I called my GP and said I just found out I’m pregnant and the receptionist scoffed and was like “and what would you like us to do about that?” 😂😂

Really recommend looking into the CQC ratings for maternity departments near you. I have three hospitals I could have chosen, and the one I’ve gone with is rated outstanding whereas the other two are far worse. I’m sure it’s all relative and people have great experiences at the other two, but there are some quirks that you wouldn’t know til you’ve read up on them. You can also do a tour of most maternity wards which is worth doing to see what you’re in for.

Congratulations to all of you newly expecting mums 🥰

I rang my GP when I had got to 4-5 weeks and the receptionist said 'is it a happy pregnancy' and then gave me the number for the local midwives hub who took my details and arranged my booking appointment.

I also said the same thing to my husband as someone has mentioned about not actually testing my urine and they just took my word that was I pregnant 😂

Am now almost 30 weeks with my first - due early January!

Genuinely, didn't have any 'official' diagnosis of my pregnancy (apart from the private scan we paid for) until my results from my 12 week appt blood tests came back, which was actually a 13.5 week appt because I couldn't fit it in earlier. I had little to no symptoms either until about 16 weeks except going off hot drinks - if we hadn't wanted the pregnancy/been trying and I'd been younger, not in a position to have a kid etc., firstly I don't think I'd have tested but secondly I don't know if I would have fully believed it!

The brown turned to bright red so I’ve called the unit and they’ve said I can come up to be checked out.

Really can’t catch a break this pregnancy 😭

Thought after being released from fetal medicine that I could finally relax now 😭

It's strange isn't it!

The only thing I had was after I'd had my positive test was that I could smell, I lost a lot of it after COVID so it was weird to have it back for a short period of time!

I realised I might be pregnant because my wee didn’t smell like wee 😂😂 it smelled soooo strange I can’t put my finger on it! Almost like when you eat loads of asparagus and then wee 😂 that and also I was dreaming every night, very vivid dreams too. That was unusual for me

I had a friend who could smell the cold air on her husband when he'd come back in from walking the dog in the morning... So weird!

It's so strange! Gravy is absolutely disgusting to me at the moment. Even writing the word makes me feel ill. Flicking through Insta and people posting their roasts covered in and it's knocking me sick. I loved it before I got knocked up.

I was saying to Mr Shiny things that if we have to carry a kid for 9 months it's only fair we should feel amazing, but nooooo my own saliva makes me gag.

sending lots of love! Hope you get seen quickly and get some reassurance. Update up when you can, we’ll be thinking of you.

Anybody else hate wearing bottoms/pants further along into pregnancy. 33 weeks and I wish I could just live in nighties and dresses😂

Hey all! I’m a newbie 🥹
I’m about 5w along so very early days. I had Covid a month before I got pregnant, a sudden cold came on during implantation, now a couple weeks later I have a horrible sore throat / cough! Has anyone else had this all so early on? I take it it’s due to my body working overtime at the moment and taking a hit? I feel so run down and feel like my husband must think I’m being dramatic lol

Has anyone done the sneak peak test at 6 weeks? Tempted to order it and do it in 2 weeks, I’m just so impatient 🥲 but I also want to ride the wave and just enjoy the pregnancy and all the wondering haha

Hi everyone, just found out I’m pregnant yesterday 🥹 can I join the thread? First time mum here, no sisters and no friends who have had a baby and feeling quite overwhelmed!
