Can I ask - how did you decide you wanted to find out the sex? I feel like I do as I’m a planner / more logical (eg only have to think of one set of names) but my boyfriend wants to wait. Others have also said they wanted to wait until birth.
I don't want to find out. It's one of the few surprises you get in this life. I like the idea of finding out at birth. I'm actually worried I'll spoiler it fir myself my seeing the gender at the scan.

I wonder this too, and are they worth it ?
I had one at 28, almost 29 weeks. The place went to says between 26-32 weeks but guess it depends where you go.
We absolutely loved seeing her face, and seeing her moving about. Ours was really clear & it definitely helped me feel like this was actually happening after years of infertility & loss. Like now I’ve seen her face she’s a real person if that makes sense?

With my first baby i had a 4d scan a bit late i think i was almost 33 weeks and i deffo regretted not going sooner as her face was all smushed cos she was so comfy and low and i had an anterior placenta. Ive got my 4d scan booked in this time for 27 weeks and again i have an anterior placenta but hoping because im going earlier this time baby 2 wont look as smushed… thats if they stay still long enough 🤣 theyre a right wriggler!

It’s ok to be disappointed, I was gutted when my 3rd was a boy. Cried for weeks, literally weeks which feels ridiculous now esp as everyone says they got over it which in a day or less but at the time it felt very overwhelming. I wasn’t that I didn’t want a boy, I just thought he’d be my last and was mourning almost for a girl I’d never get and that mother/daughter relationship I’d never have.
I knew I’d feel sad which is why I did the early scan to try and get used to it before hand and I’m doing the same again this time. Don’t think I’ll be as upset this time though, I couldn’t imagine my boys being anything else now and I’ve not let myself get my heart set on a girl like last time x
We didn't find out until the birth but I've always, always wanted girls, not boys. So to have a little boy presented to you was a bit of a shock and I did really struggle with accepting/bonding with him (though tbf I have a history of tit mental health anyway, hormones hit me like a brick at the best of times and I am prone to anxiety and depression). But I do truly believe you get given the baby you need, not the baby you want!

If we have another and it's not a girl, I will be a bit sad I think, it feels like there's some special things you get with girls that you don't with boys. Your first grandkid is slightly different if they're your daughters, not your sons, you don't get to do the wedding dress shopping, or the girly afternoon teas (though there may be some boys who enjoy that, I can't imagine there's many teenage boys who like a shopping trip and a gossip over lunch), spa days, that kind of thing. But hey ho, they love us unconditionally and we love them back the same!

I’m 20+5 today and had my covid+flu jab yesterday. Am I right in thinking that for some people the covid jab can cause vaginal bleeding? I’m sure I read that somewhere but I’m not having a luck when googling about that and pregnancy.

I didn’t notice anything yesterday and only noticed something when I could finally get dressed this morning that I had browny stuff in my underwear and having it now mixed in with any discharge.

Hoping everything is okay.. there’s no red flow or anything so I should just see how it goes right?
I almost wish I didn’t get the jab now but I never had issues with it last pregnancy 🫠

It’s probably nothing? But just something to worry about 🫠😭

I know that some people have changes to their menstrual cycle after having the covid jab, but I’ve never heard anything in relation to bleeding and pregnancy. Brown is obviously not fresh blood which means it’s unlikely to be anything concerning but I’d give your maternity services a call for reassurance and just keep an eye out for if anything changes xx

I think the evidence of bleeding is limited to one study (proving a very small amount of women had bleeding/interrupted menstrual cycles) and anecdotal on the internet…
I wouldn’t just immediately put it down to that but remember there are lots of things that can irritate the cervix too so may well be nothing - I always think best to be checked anyway 🥰

Hi everyone, just found out I’m pregnant yesterday 🥹 can I join the thread? First time mum here, no sisters and no friends who have had a baby and feeling quite overwhelmed!

Hey.
Just found out I'm a second time mum to be. Very very early days so family not informed yet.

Exhaustion has kicked in, needing to consistently nap daily. Didn't get this with my first it was pure nausea and sickness with him.. I think I'd swap at this point.

My experience with calling maternity services here for anything in my first pregnancy felt like they were uninterested until after 25 weeks 🥲

I guess it could be down to having quite a busy week, lots of walking and with the placenta being low and covering my cervix maybe that’s something to do with it too, I was told to not have sex or put anything inside (not that I’ve felt like doing that anyway😂) because it could cause irritation.

I’ll take it easy today and see how it is tomorrow, hopefully cleared up then too. My husband said it’s probably nothing and not too worry but it is easier said than done isn’t it 🫠

Thank you for all the love 🥹❤ I just don’t know what to do now haha! How do I get a midwife? Do I just call the midwifery department and tell them I’m pregnant? 🤣 Is it a catchment area thing, or can I pick which hospital? Is there anything else I need to do? 😂 I’ve already been taking folic acid for 8 months so I’m good on that front!

You can choose your hospital and register directly with them. First timer here too! Due this week. 🥰

Omg Massive congratulations ❤

First time Mam her too and just recently found the thread. I love it. It's lovely to speak to other Mam's and get advice. I am the same, only one of my friends has a child and she is 15 now so things are different. I feel like I literally have absolutely no idea what I even need to buy 🤣

Welcome in ☺

congratulations!! I was told to go to my gp surgery and get a midwife referral form. On this they had options of which hospitals were closest and you could choose which one you wanted your care to be at

I just contacted my GP, they did a test and confirmed pregnancy and said a midwife would be in touch to arrange a visit.
Are you in the UK?
