Hi everyone, I’m 34 weeks tomorrow (yikes) and at my 34 wk appt today baby has jumped from 50th to 95th centile.
I have another GTT on Tues to check GD isn’t the cause - has anybody else had a jump like this?
I’m a bit worried they will push to induce me early if I do have GD / the growth is unexplained, which I really don’t want as am hoping for a home birth and it could impact that.
Thank you 😊
I don’t know about if it’s a sudden jump or GD but I skirted 90%-off the chart over all my growth scans (5 I think) and they wouldn’t consider anything before 39 weeks. They weren’t interested my water went 38+6 last time. They also said that they need to rescan every 2 weeks to rule out inconsistency when I was going up and down a big as 10%-15% difference is common between scans so that’s a possibility.

As it turned out baby was 7 1//2lbs at 38+6 again, all the scans were wrong predicting over 10lb.

Baby skates no1 jumped from 50th to above 95th, think it was a little earlier though. They offered me either an induction or elective section, or to continue as I was. I went with the elective section but he was actually only 8lbs 11, which is obviously big but not huge. Growth scans aren’t the most accurate and the fundal measurements are even less so!

I thought we both wanted and agreed to keep this baby’s gender a surprise for family until he was born but my partner ruined it today and might as well have just straight up told his family we are having another boy…

His step dad was talking about how we’ll have our hands full one day with 2, 3, 4 or more… and my partner decided to reply with ‘oh yes, we will probably have to keep going after 2 until we get a girl..’

No comment was really made by anyone but there’s no way that anyone present would’ve not missed that this baby is clearly a boy from what was said.

Might as well tell my family too now 🫠

I don’t think we will have more though, I thought we’d already discussed that 🫠 I don’t want to chance having 3 boys 😂

Dear God, this reflux is killing me. I don't know how I'm going to cope as I've read it only gets worse. I've tried all the home remedies and tips and omeprazole but nothing is touching it. It's all day long. I wake up with a really sore throat because the acid has come up in my sleep, every time I burp, acid is coming into my mouth. Help!

God sake that’s so frustrating 🫠
But side note - 3 boys is the biggest blessing I’ve ever been given, 100% would choose it a million times over! That said, with 4 boys between us a girl this time would be nice, knowing me it’ll be boy no5 🤣😅

I’m having a lot of cramping pains at 11 weeks, the pain isn’t unbearable but it is uncomfortable and fairly constant. I’m conscious that it’s the weekend so I won’t be able to go to the doctors, but don’t know if it’s worth ringing maternity triage. I’ve got quite a bit of pain in my back too and was wondering about a UTI - the anti-emetics I’m taking unfortunately don’t help with keeping hydrated. I haven’t taken them today but then as a result I have been sick quite a few times.

I'm 14 weeks with my first baby and dying to know if it's a girl or boy. What's people's options on early gender scans ?

We found out all ours via NIPT. I’m on the fence about early gender scans. It’s harmless to ask but just be prepared that you may not get an answer/it may be incorrect.

I had one at 16 weeks as a wedding present to myself 😂 had to go twice due to the baby not being in position but NHS scan also confirmed we were having a girl.

We used ultrasound direct and they were great! Also for me, it was nice to get the reassurance between 12 and 20 weeks as this is my first pregnancy and I'd not felt any moments either and had no idea what to expect.

Depending on how early, they’re not always super accurate! Ours was right at 16+3, although I’ve heard that a boy is a boy, but girls can sometimes be misjudged early. Private scans tend to be slightly less detailed than the NHS ones too.

Have you looked at skull theory on your 12 week scan if you had a clear picture? There’ll be people online that explain it better than me but the general theory is that boys have stronger, squarer jaws and foreheads, and girls are much more rounded. Ours was really obvious but it’s not always clear!

I had a gender scan at 16 weeks and the sonographer said he was 100% sure, but I’m not convinced as the nub theory from my 12 week scan said the opposite. I have my 20 week scan next week which will hopefully give me some sort of certainty

I had one at 16 weeks with my 3rd, it was very very obvious he was a boy at that stage, no mistaking it. They went to 3d for a bit as well which was even more clear. I’ve got one booked for 16+4 in 2 weeks x

I think boys are usually a little clearer. Baby Skate no1 loved showing his tail off on his scans. 20 week one he was literally positioned with his bum against my belly and legs apart so that was the first shot we got 🤣. Luckily we’d already found out what we were having and didn’t want a surprise!

Can I ask - how did you decide you wanted to find out the sex? I feel like I do as I’m a planner / more logical (eg only have to think of one set of names) but my boyfriend wants to wait. Others have also said they wanted to wait until birth.

My first and this one were both obviously boys 😂 though we also had nipt this time that did confirm it as well. I didn’t watch the gender scan with my second as wanted to take it home in an envelope with to share with my partner but the pictures they provided me with it he was very obviously a boy 😂

Both scans were done around 17 weeks, which felt like is a nice time to have it with my first as it was somewhere in the middle between 12w and 20w nhs scans, so it was nice to have some reassurance baby was okay between them.

I’d say that 14 weeks would’ve been too early for us, but they can be accurate? Really up to you what you want to do !

We felt like there was no need to know early and it's one of the only surprises we would be happy to wait for. I'm also glad because I think if we knew it was a girl, we would have been unindated with pink/flowers dresses, and this way it's made people stick to neutral clothes and colours and get rid of the gender stereotypes in their gifts. Not to sound ungrateful but my mum would literally be handing us pink or blue things if we knew the gender and nothing else.

I'm a project manager and planner, plus also a control freak so always knew I'd want to know the gender when I had children!

Me and my husband also had NO idea on a name for a boy but did have a girls name so wanted to know if we needed to spend time trying to find a name that we both loved 😂 he would have been happy not to find out until the NHS scan as well but happily came along to the private one. It was really nice to just be told by the sonographer in the room. We didn't do a big gender reveal and probably won't be having a baby shower or anything either so we're really happy how it all worked out.

I have a lot of friends who were quite happy not to find out as it really is one of life's biggest surprises!

I like only having to decide one set of names (having my second boy, why are boy names so hard 😭) and this time round we (probably actually more me 😂) wanted to know if I could buy girly cute pink things or not 😂
But really you can buy any super girly/boy clothes once baby is here anyway

With my first I did have some gender disappointment when we found out at the scan but it’s something I got over fairly quickly, I think I preferred knowing before rather than potentially being disappointed and sad the second he was born?
