I’m 33 weeks on Friday and I have a regional role which requires lots of driving and then days spent in kitchens training staff or working events (hospitality industry). I’m really done with work now but I’ve got 5 weeks left, trying to do as much this end to have as much time when baby is here but likewise to lots of you guys. Just had enough mentally and physically - some days I just can’t walk or move when I get home my back and pelvis kills 🙄 I’m stat pay as well no enhanced pay - if I did have some sort of enhanced maternity I definitely wouldn’t be working until 38 weeks!

I'm finishing early December (will be 36+1 on my last day) and using 7 AL days and then starting my maternity leave at 38 weeks if all goes well. It falls just before Christmas so my BHs will just be added onto the end of my leave. I work in a office 2 or 3 days and at home the rest of the time but my boss has offered for me to do less travelling (the office is an hour from home) and more home days if I need it but I'm feeling okay at the moment with it!

I’m finishing at 36 weeks. I saved 2 weeks holiday so only got 2 weeks left at work and it can’t come quick enough.
Really feeling just huge at the min, I’m getting comments like ‘wow look big you’re getting’ and I know they mean well but it’s really getting me down, I don’t know why anybody would say comments like that! 😢

I have a bit of an embarrassing question - how do you tell the difference between leaking waters, wee and discharge?! I’m experiencing fairly wet underwear mostly in the mornings, it doesn’t smell of nothing but it also smells of something… it could also just be sweat because I’m waking up so sweaty during the night. I’m 37+6 today. According to Google I would know if it’s my waters breaking and also that leaking urine is very common… I don’t really want to have to go in to get checked unless I really need to

I’d just go and get checked just in case, best to be safe.
My waters broke rather than leaked but I didn’t notice a smell or anything - it was clear.

I feel you! On holiday a couple weeks go I was told at the breakfast buffet not to have two eggs as I'm big enough already.

You're growing a baby. People can sod off. I do understand it's hard but just try and focus on yourself and your baby x

Honestly go get checked- my waters went at 40+1 and I thought it was sweat. It was a really slow trickle so I wasn’t sure, I went in and the midwives said they didn’t think it was my waters then did the test and lo and behold it was. It was nothing like in the movies 😂

My forewater went in my sleep the first time. It wasn’t much, I wouldn’t have noticed if I hadn’t been wearing pale coloured undies. It’s perfectly possibly it could be that and you risk infection if it is and goes unchecked.
I thought it happened this time, there was more there over more days, nope, just watery discharge 🙈 I couldn’t tell the difference myself, but the test is a simple swab.
Call your maternity unit and explain, I suspect they’ll bring you in. Take your bag, just in case. I was 39 weeks so I was induced.

If your main waters go, you definitely know, but no one talks about the forewater.

For me when mine was leaking it was a constant leaking.. so I was certain it was that. I think it can be a slower trickle though so it would be worth going in and getting checked I’d think!

Well, as expected, my parents have had a bad reaction to my announcement and I’m officially Disappointing Daughter of the Year. 🤷🏻‍♀️ So glad I’m speaking to my psychologist in an hour. 🤣

Thanks for the advice ladies - I called our midwife hotline and she said it doesn’t sound enough to be waters and more likely I’m just experiencing incontinence as baby is so heavy at this stage. The joys! I’ll keep an eye out though for anything more “gushy” 🥴

So sorry to hear this, I can’t comprehend how they could possibly think this!

I'm so sorry to hear this. I know it's not the same, but I hope you have other people around you who are much more supportive. Sending you lots of love.

I can’t comprehend it either. If I told them in person or over the phone, I’d be blindsiding them and not giving them space to react in private. If I told them via text it’s bad sportsmanship blah blah blah.

I told them via text to protect myself from THEIR immediate bad reaction and to take my step-mum’s difficult feelings about not having kids of her own into consideration. Amongst many things said, there was a comment about why they’re the last to know about previous losses… it’s like they forgot how horrible they were to me after my first one!

I have a phone call with them to look forward to later. 🙄

This is my favourite game to play daily 🤣
I think mine is a combo of increased discharge as well as a leaky bladder at this stage!

my midwife did say waters tend to have a slightly sweeter smell but I’m not sure how obvious that would be to an untrained nose!

Has yours been constant or on and off? Mine has been on and off so I haven’t gone to get checked but I don’t know if that’s the right thing!

AS a room leader in the toddler room I feel your pain! What’s does your risk assessment say? I’ve updated mine to extra ten minute breaks as and when I need them, and I don’t do any lifting or any jobs other than paperwork and delegating where everyone goes. We also just changed teams but I kept a lot of my older staff in the room which helped as my management team didn’t want to add too much change/stress me out - although 24 toddlers on our busier day is hell on Earth 😂 it’s so hard working in a nursery at the best of times let alone pregnant and having to carry on as normal!
I'm in the toddler room too. My risk assessment has been in need of updating for weeks. My manager brings it up and then is too busy to sit and do it with me. I really wish my team hadn't of changed I'm just not mentally and physically in a place to deal with a whole new team. I'm still doing a lot of the more physical jobs onto of trying to keep up with the paperwork. I .managed to grab my manager for a chat on Friday. She wants me to hold a room meeting even though I've already told the staff what I expect and she'll try her best to give me time for all the two years checks. Eight weeks to go, I am on countdown.

They’ve been on and off too but quite constant today, I do feel like it’s just a leaky bladder as I can barely move without my pelvic muscles feeling like they’re ripping apart.. I might give it a day and then go get checked on the weekend if it’s still happening quite so much. The midwife I called today said it doesn’t sound like waters and if it was waters I’d know (it would feel like a warm trickling..!)

I really hope it is obvious like your midwife said because I’m super paranoid I’m gunna miss it given all the other fun stuff pregnancy brings!
Totally with you on the pelvis front tho 😩

Sorry I feel like I’m trolling the pregnancy thread after leaving it 18 months ago but to confirm I really didn’t know 😂 I was erring on the side of caution when I rang them, I had been very sweaty for a few days (everywhere not just between my legs 😂) and I woke up very hot as usual but between my legs felt a little damp. There was no dripping, trickling, gushing and I didn’t feel anything other than dampness.

I have a friend who had no idea her waters had gone by the time she was in labour and her and her boy ended up with infections, not saying that to scare you but some people really don’t notice at all so for the midwife to say that is really surprising.
