Sorry I feel like I’m trolling the pregnancy thread after leaving it 18 months ago but to confirm I really didn’t know 😂 I was erring on the side of caution when I rang them, I had been very sweaty for a few days (everywhere not just between my legs 😂) and I woke up very hot as usual but between my legs felt a little damp. There was no dripping, trickling, gushing and I didn’t feel anything other than dampness.

I have a friend who had no idea her waters had gone by the time she was in labour and her and her boy ended up with infections, not saying that to scare you but some people really don’t notice at all so for the midwife to say that is really surprising.
Interesting!! I’ll go and get checked later today. It’s crazy the amount of conflicting info! She said unless I’m noticing it going through onto other things (I.e my trousers or the bedsheets) and only noticing it when I go to the loo (I.e seeing it in my knickers) then it’s not enough to worry about.

Thank you. I shall check this out. Hopefully it has some tips about morning sickness. Not been feeling great and getting worried about throwing up on the commute. What makes me super worried is I get the train with up to four colleagues - including the MD! (depends if we bump into each other on the platform, we usually do).
I felt dreadful for my first pregnancy and I've been great so far (8weeks). I put on the seasick bands about 3 weeks ago and only take them off to shower. No idea if they work or I'm just lucky this time 🤷‍♀️

I had no idea until my waters went but there’s multiple sacs around the baby? The slow slow trickle was from the one by her head so it had a way to travel 🤮 good luck!

I have to agree, what the midwife said wasn’t my experience either. It happened once, no trickling, like I say I only noticed because I saw it and I only mentioned it off hand (thought maybe it had to do with the plug) as I called the following day due to on and off cramping/tensing but they said to come in.

Seen as I’m over 37 weeks now, I’ve started collecting colostrum. I only finished feeding my daughter a year ago, but I’ve managed to get 60ml just by hand expressing for 15 mins 😶 I don’t think I actually gave myself time for the milk to dry up judging by that 🤣

Well done! For some reason I’m terrified to try this. I need to try but I can’t massage myself for 10 mins without giving myself the ick for some reason 😩😩

Me too. Do we have to do it? I know no one has to do anything but won't it come out anyway after birth? My midwife hasn't spoken to me about it and I'm not quite sure I understand it. I plan on breastfeeding but the thought of massaging my own boobs like this makes me feel weird.

Do you know what, a lot of women say it makes them feel almost nauseous when they do it, so you’re absolutely not alone!

The idea is that you only get colostrum before baby arrives, it’ll go to milk soon post delivery, so it’s a limited supply after and it’s the best stuff (even if you don’t intend to continue with the breast). Also, if you had any recovery issues or can’t get a latch you or someone else could give it to baby instead of formula, gives you a bit of time.

I couldn’t do it first time. Just couldn’t get my head around it. It would have made things a lot easier when I struggled to establish breastfeeding and get my milk to come in, given me a buffer rather than desperately trying to pump. I’d recommend trying but if you can’t buy it’s not make or break, I still breast fed eventually.

I did it this time, then forgot to take it to the hospital 🙈 I gave it after the first vaccine though and may be coincidence but they settled straight after despite being fussy for ages before hand.

I definitely agree that once you’ve physically breast fed a baby, getting your head around *stuff coming out of your boobs* MUST be easier. Right now it just feels icky to me. My midwife gave me a kit. The first instruction is to massage your boobs for a solid 10 mins and then squeeze them gently. It’s a bit like perineal massage for me - the suggestion was husband could help. So far in my 35 years both my boobs and my perineal area have been purely for pleasure, so spending time at home “treating” them in a medical way is just a weird, mind bending concept…

With my first pregnancy the few times I tried to do it I couldn’t seem to get much at all! But then my waters broke at 36+5 so I never really got much of a try at it. Then we couldn’t get the hang of breastfeeding (mix of tongue tie and me not wanting to accept any help with it). So my son never got any of it and he’s 20months now and is completely fine 😂

I’ll probably give it a better go this time unless I don’t make it far enough to try !

Oh it was still weird 😂 just the concept of “milking” myself is so ick and bizarre. But it was almost leaking so pretty much came without trying and I was more keen given my difficulty last time. I wouldn’t have stressed myself over it though, I’m pretty sure no baby has suffered by not having it, same as breast feeding in general.

re feeling nauseous I still get that but I believe it’s to do with the oxytocin so if you get that while expressing colostrum, it’s a good sign really if you’re looking to stimulate labour!

(Don’t know where the word “buy” came from in my last comment btw)

Don’t stress with the colostrum should I shouldn’t I before baby arrives …. When they’re old enough they’ll be licking handrails and eating random chips off the floor 😅😂

Got hit by another car while driving home tonight and my anxiety is through the roof. Phoned triage and they were like ‘well unless you’re bleeding or in pain we say don’t bother coming in. Do you want to tho?’

like yes absolutely I would like to come in for reassurance 😂 heard babies heartbeat and was monitored but I’m still so worried something could happen in these next few days

Thank you! We’re both okay luckily. I was turning in the road and was halfway across when the other car decided to set off at 15-20mph and slammed into my front passenger side. Luckily it wasn’t too bad of a crash, my front bumper is a mess but they monitored babies heartbeat for 20 minutes and it met all the criteria and I can feel movements now at her regular time ❤

I feel bad because it was a coworkers boyfriend who hit me and he was very apologetic but I didn’t want to speak to him at all, the stress of these situation was awful and I think the only reason they let me go to triage was because I was crying on the phone 😂 we rang and pushed the number for the ‘emergency triage’ at first and the lady on the phone said ‘we’ll you’ve rang emergency and it’s not an emergency really is it’

my boyfriend nearly snapped at her over the phone 😂 if they don’t consider a car accident an emergency while pregnant what do they class as one haha

If anyone here is a kind receptionist I want to preface this with this is absolutely not about you, but why are 95% of medical receptionists absolute arseholes?!

glad you got some reassurance, that must’ve been so scary for you!

I have fully given up sleeping in the bed. I can’t get comfy, I tried a pregnancy pillow and it’s just so awkward. I dread going to bed. 30 weeks and it’s only going to get harder. My partner keeps telling me he will get on the couch but I just can’t settle in the bed at all!

What in the cinnamon toast duck is that kind of response from the lady on the phone?! Seconding the comment about the majority of medical receptionists being absolute pieces of work!

I’m glad you’re okay and that baby is also doing fine. Your poor nerves though. 🥲

thank you guys ❤ I was so shook up and she just kept telling me to listen to the 9 options again. I asked her which one I should choose and she just kept repeating ‘listen to the options this is not an emergency’

I can laugh now but Jesus when you’re stressed and on edge it’s not what you want 😂
