I’m finally buying baby bits and I wondered if anyone had any recommendations or thoughts on the following. What did you buy and do you recommend? I’m also looking to combi feed and I’ve no idea where to even start with these:
- White noise machine
- Groegg
- Prep machine
- Breast pump
- Steriliser
Thanks so much

34 weeks today and baby is still breech I’ve got until 36 weeks for her to turn before we start talking about a C section, I know she could turn anytime multiple times but I’m quite scared of a C section.

Wondering if anyone had some advice to prepare just incase I do need one or had a good experience? Just to put my mind at ease a bit xx

No advice on a c section but my baby was transverse then breech from 28 weeks and I did loads of walking on uneven ground which I think helped them turn by the 36 week check. I tried to do one of the upside down exercises for about a minute and was nearly sick so didn’t bother again😂 Although, my midwife said as long as they weren’t footling breech there’s no reason why I couldn’t have still gone for a vaginal birth which I didn’t realise was possible!

Hi, I combi feed. I use the rapid cool (I have two) for formula.
Don’t use a white noise machine, got gifted a teddy but use Alexa. Doesn’t seem to make much difference !
Steriliser I use the Milton cold water one - they used that in hospital and I find it so easy to put stuff in and out - especially pumps.
I got a groegg2 from Facebook marketplace for £10, we have it downstairs atm but will move it in to babies room once she’s in it.
Breast pump - I wouldn’t spend loads on one until you know that you’re able to and want to. I was able to use the hospitals which helped as I only express and don’t nurse. I got some off Amazon but I do like the momcozys12 pro - Id recommend a double and then potentially more than one set if you pump a lot. I got mine off of vinted - they have some new with tags if you don’t want second hand ☺

hi, I had to have a c section because baby was breech. I tried the ECV but wasn’t successful to c section was realistically the only option (advised not to do it vaginally as first baby). They will scan you when you have your c section so if baby does turn you can still opt to not have a c section!

I did look at the exercises on spinning babies but they terrified me!

Some tips I’d have:
Make a playlist - I was able to have what I wanted on for the birth, may help relax you
Try not to do too much too soon after - it’s a fine balance of doing a bit at a time and overdoing it. The first day or so for me felt like I’d take forever then the next day I felt so much better
Loose comfy clothing, high waisted pants (Asda over the bump) - try not to have anything over your scar

Hi guys, I’ve lurked on here as I’ve had my last baby 6m ago but my friend has just had one via c section and i wanted to get her something for herself. Any recommendations? She likes lush stuff but wasn’t sure about bathing after a c section, as I haven’t had one.

My midwife told me it was fine to bath after a c section, however I wouldn’t have felt comfortable putting products in the water I don’t think. I’d have loved something like a nice pair of pjs if you’re wanting to buy something along those lines. Or, my mum sent us a lovely afternoon tea in a box style thing which was lush as it meant neither of us had to prepare anything to eat that day!

8 weeks pregnant with baby no.4. Been stressful so far with bleeding on and off but scans have shown everything is fine and good heart beat. Never had it on other 3 pregnancies. Been stressful as I have had x2 MC in the past. This pregnancy I've had nausea and vomiting which I never had in any of my others. Very tired, very sore boobs, lower back ache but otherwise im okay. Ihave a 17 year old, 6 year old and 4 year old and all 3 are girls.

Hi fellow Tattlers,

I've just found out that I'm pregnant. I'm only just 4 weeks, suddenly decided to use up my old expired tests before I threw them out and now I'm regretting it 🤣🤣.

The only thing is that I'm 45. We've been infertile for years so this is a surprise which my husband is not on board with yet 😥

Is anyone else in a similar situation? Older mum or surprise pregnancy?
I'm classed as older being 37 and like you husband wasn't on board. When I had my last pregnancy four years ago I was classed as high risk for downs due to my age. There is no right age to have a baby in my opinion, I had my first when I was 19 and wish I had waited until I was older, then with my other two pregnancies finances weren't brilliant. Now on my fourth and doing a degree with open University, working full time and struggling with my health and finances. I'd count it as a blessing either way and if its meant to be its meant to be.

I had a breech baby turned. The procedure wasn’t remotely as bad as I’d heard. This time they turned themselves, can’t remember the week but late.
Ultimately I had an emergency c-section both times, which I can’t deny isn’t best case but I’d say I’ve never heard a bad story about the procedure during a planned C-section.
You have time to wait and see if baby turns or can be turned. I’d be inclined to say don’t stress about it yet as the stress in itself can turn it into an even bigger worry. If it comes to it you need to look at the statistics relevant to you, your age, weight, pregnancy history. What’s right for one, won’t be for another.

Combi feeder here.
White noise - up to you, I got one this time, Dreamegg and it’s good but baby doesn’t care for it. They can be magic machines for babies that make the sleep association but mine hasn’t, I haven’t got my act together to take it about for every nap.

Groegg - was given one last time, it broke and I replaced with a 2 pack from amazon thermometers, about £7, these were fine. This time I didn’t bother. You can generally feel if a room or baby is too hot or cold. Expensive gimmick to prey on new mum’s fears imo however, we do have those fears so again, up to you, but a cheap one does the job.

Prep machine - depends how much formula you plan to do. I rate the Rapid cool if only doing one or two a day and I’d have one of these for out and about anyway. You can get prep machines next day delivery so I’d hold off and use pre-made/rapid cool for the first while to see how you go. I also wouldn’t buy too many bottles in ass you don’t use/baby doesn’t like.

Breast pump - A manual one might be handy right at the start but you’re advised not to so you don’t create an over supply. I’d probably hold off altogether until you know if you’re going to stick with breast feeding at all and tbh if you’re combi, you can just use formula for bottles, there’s no need to pump really (again, can create over supply if you don’t do the same every day). If you do go electric you can to work out your flange size as it’s not a one for all affair and this is the most important element but again I have a no wires random Amazon one with just 2 settings and the flange it came with, it does the job.

Steraliser - Milton cold water all the way. Microwave bags are handy for travel, I have ‘Munchkin’ brand.

Work out what you’d like and add to an Amazon baby wish list now then they’re there if you need them, research done. Or buy just before due date so you’ve got them but don’t open them unless you need to and send back what you don’t use.
Don’t buy anything electric too far in advance as you’ll miss the return/eat up warranty time if it doesn’t work/suit you.

My age was never mentioned at all when I was 37, this one I was 42 so advanced maternal age but no mention of increased risk of downs (I know there was but they never said). It must vary by trust as to what they say but it’s a bit off to worry people like that!

This is a safe place right? 🤣 I’ve been feeling so down this week. Doesn’t help I turned 30 and I’m 33 weeks pregnant so not exactly ideal but 3 people have had their babies this week and it’s so stupid but I just want mine now!

Knowing I’ve possibly got another 7+ weeks is just killing me off and I’m getting absolutely 0 support from family friends etc 🥲

Im in exactly the same situation, 10 weeks, 4th baby and I’ve bled on and off since 6 weeks. I’ve never had this before either, also had a past MC and I’m nauseous which I’ve never had before! I’ve got 3 boys. Hope you’re doing ok, it’s scary to bleed, especially after MC and if you’ve never had this before xx

I’m sure everything will be ok for both of you, 4th babies! Wow! My only advice would be to keep going in to see midwives whenever you are worried.
@Jaybob totally missed your first comment - how is your partner taking it all now? Xx

Happy birthday 💖 I’m 36 weeks so feel your pain, it’s a long slog and I feel like I’ve totally lost my body, social life, energy to work, etc. it’s so hard. Sorry you aren’t getting enough support. Have you joined any local groups or antenatal classes? I’ve found the small group of women I’ve met through mine super helpful already!

@Amylaauren and @Greencatfysh Also joining the club. I'm 32 weeks and I'm not sleeping, feeling uncomfortable and to top it off I think I'm coming down with something. I haven't felt myself the whole pregnancy either.

Not too long left for any of us although does feel like ages.

Also, happy birthday @Amylaauren!

Thank you!! Hope you feel better soon, I had an awful cold the other week and there isn’t much you can take either 😩
I’ve started my raspberry leaf tea (god knows if it will help but will try anything) and going to start dates from 37 weeks! I will not be overdue 🤣🤣

I'm at the point in this pregnancy when I am questioning my life choices. 30 weeks pregnant and I'm doing an 11 hour flight this weekend with a 17 month and 2 and a half year old. Pretty sure every ounce of common sense I had went out the window with this pregnancy!

Same, I’m feeling really low, I am just sitting around the house. I wanna go out and do things but back and hips are so sore. I never understood why women wanted their babies out asap, I was so naive 😖
