How can you tell the difference between discharge or waters?

I had quite a sudden leak that’s gone through to my dress thank god I’m home, & feeling v nauseous. Had my waters broken with my first and was like uncontrollable peeing but I know it’s not always like that when waters break. But I also know you can have heavy discharge (I’m 38 weeks)

I’ve been googling this as I’ve started to lose my mucus plug and I’m not ready yet! I think waters are meant to be clear and have a sweet smell? I’d prob ring up to be on the safe side - I think they advise you to put a pad in?

Baby T is here and he is absolutely beautiful. Just perfect.
It didn’t go according to plan as in I had two failed spinal blocks as ended up having to do general which is my greatest fear in life. Found that really distressing but it was only for a few seconds till I went under.. had a bleed as well as I had large fibroid which they were very concerned about, lost about a liter but didn’t need a transfusion. Can around in agony and it felt like it took them forever to stop the pain but I think it was only seconds. All the aside is nothing when I look in and see the most wonderful little man.. I cooked a fab one, not bad for a 46 year old He was 6 pounds 1 so not bad given he made his appearance at least two weeks early.. thanks to you all for all

I’m in week 17 now and my uterus finally peaked out above the pubic bone, it’s so funny because when I lay down there’s an extra bump the size of my palm bellow my bellybutton, it’s very hard to touch and there’s a clear line where it ends. I’m just so fascinated by the biology of it all. Can you see and feel the uterus until the end of pregnancy now? Can’t wait to feel her move soon, it’s insane that she’s already almost 15cm and I can see and feel exactly where she is but can’t feel any kicks yet.

You can indeed feel it and mostly because your stomach is so squished up against your diaphragm and so small you can barely eat without getting reflux. The joys! It’s certainly lovely to feel them move once you can feel their head vs their feet etc

Was it an early deal? I’ve had it on my list for a few weeks and it’s always been around £70-£80. It’s about that on other sites too!

Never had one and dreading it. I saw my brother have one as a child in his foot and honestly I don't think I've recovered from his screams getting it in and stinging when they injected certain things into it.

My 12 week scan is today and I’ve mostly been so busy up til now that I’ve not thought too much about it but now it’s all the what ifs

I would only be 11 weeks going by what my EPU scans have shown (at 6 and 8) but LMP would date me as 12w today, so will be interesting to see if things have caught up or I’m still 11 weeks. I had my first faint line positive test on the 14th June so I feel like I’ve been pregnant forever at this point

Didn’t get to see too much of baby. They mostly insisted on being scrunched up in a little ball but the sonographer was okay with how everything looked so far, just couldn’t actually get a proper measurement to date me so I have to go back in a week to try again. They think likely I’m more 11 weeks than 12 though, based on how its legs looked?
Little annoying that I haven’t left with any scan pictures for the fridge but happy baby is looking good and get to see them again next week

As I have a retroverted uterus I ended up having an internal, they couldn’t see well with a full bladder and got me to empty it which made things worse I don’t remember having this much trouble at scans with my first baby I knew I had a retroverted uterus but it never seemed an issue at scans before !

I need some help with nursery furniture! Was originally going to go Ikea but I’ve got my heart set on a set with a cotbed, wardrobe and drawers. Seen some lovely ones online but ideally we would want to go and view some. Mamas and papas is out of our budget so any recommendations welcome!!

He said it was easier when the children had no understanding. Our oldest is now 2 and a half(ish) and his family left a couple of days ago and she was upset, which set off our youngest. She gets that when they say bye it means we won’t see them for a bit but at the same time she’s not old enough to realise it won’t be forever. We are very lucky that between us and them, one of us is able to make the journey every couple of months so it’s never too far between visits but saying it is easy would be a lie. We did make sure to invest in good screens and cameras for video calling. We’ve been known To do many bed time stories that way. You do get used to it and it makes the time you’re together so much more special.

If you have a good relationship with your husbands family, it’ll definitely ease the distance of not having yours close by. I’d also suggest some sort of family photo/media sharing app Or group chat. We try to make sure to send a photo or video of the girls on a daily basis and they send the back. It’s the little things that help.

That being said, we are planning a move to the US. I’m incredibly close to my whole in-law family with little ties to my family so since having the girls the pull has become stronger. If we’d had a close family network on both sides of the Atlantic, I think we would be staying in the UK.

if you’re crazy to think about that flight, I must be insane. We did our first trip when our oldest was 8 weeks old. Then when our youngest was born we did it with a 17 month old and a 10 week old. I’ve found the idea of flying with the kids is worse than the actual flight!

Thank you so much for this! That's good to know that it's easier on the child when they're a baby/ gets harder and will (I hope for us both!) get easier for them all. I am so happy for you that you can make the journey/ family can so regularly - that's so special! I am hoping when my parents retire and downsize they'll have more time and the humility to let me buy their flights.

I am very close to my in-laws, but they live a 10 hours drive away (so by American standards we're neighbours!). My mother-in-law retired last year and my father-in-law will retire at Christmas so am hoping they'll be able to visit more often!

My husband and I make good salaries for where we live, we have a lovely home, but we do think about moving back to the UK often (I admit, the idea of only having three months maternity leave is also terrifying to me-if we had a second child the longer maternity leave in the UK would be bliss). I think the main thing stopping us looking at moving back to the UK seriously is that I'm one of five and my husband is an only child, and we feel like we'd be abandoning my in-laws (who I love and have a great relationship with).

It's really helpful to hear about your experience! Thank you so much for sharing. Any tips for travelling with babies would be appreciated as well!

I had a scan at 6 weeks, I want to book one before my 12 week scan because I don’t want to wait 6 weeks.. I’m thinking 8/9 weeks is prob best, what has everyone else done if you’ve booked one?

I also had it at 7, 10 and 12 (next Tuesday), I booked private at 10 too. It’s a hugee difference between 7 and 10! I’d say book it 9/10 because it’s a proper wiggly baby then and it’s really cute and you have similar waiting time for all appointments.

Highly recommend Aldi’s wipes. Their ‘extra sensitive’ version of water wipes I find better because they’re not as sopping wet and the regular sensitive are better than Huggies or Pampers I’ve found.
(Aveeno are incredibly expensive so better for they’re older but the best wipes out IMO)

Hit a new personal low today, being sick on the floor in work in my defence it was either the floor, or the heads of two of the toddlers I was cuddling. After being sick on the floor i then had to convince a 16 month old to pass me a bowl out of the home corner so I could carry on being sick until another staff member arrived

I feel your pain. I luckily work from home, but I lost count of the amount of bushes I was sick in taking my dog a walk during the first few months.

Still waiting, Contractions haven’t started yet so there is no rush to do the section. Just need to meet the epidural doc and I’ll be done then.. it’s weird how calm I feel..

I know it was only a couple of days ago that I said I'm not a leggings girl, but after my desperation for something comfortable to wear that doesn't dig in around the waist, a heavily pregnant influencer I follow on Instagram was raving about some cheap leggings from Amazon that she's worn loads through her pregnancy, so I thought for under a tenner I'd give them a go...and my god they really are so soft and comfy, huge wide waistband so no digging in either. Hey lovelies! I'm 29 weeks pregnant and at my last midwife appointment my bump was measuring in the 90th centile. At my next appointment the midwife said she might send me for a growth scan. Getting nervous about possibly birthing a 90th centile baby haha!

Has anyone had experience of their midwife measurements being wrong and a scan showing the baby as smaller??

I know people have asked in the past month or two about the RSV vaccine but I've not seen anyone whose actually had it yet. My midwife told me today that there's a drop in clinic for it this afternoon at my hospital so I'm going to pop along to that. But interested to hear about anyone whose had it already and how you were after?

I think it only started 1st September in England, just checked the October baby group on Facebook and I can only see one person who has had it so far and she said she feels fine after it! My midwife hasn't mentioned it to me yet but seeing them tomorrow so wonder if they will mention it then. You will have to let us know how it is!
