I’m not planning to breastfeed, but am I right in thinking that even if you don’t they advise you to do the first feed by breast rather than formula because of the nutrients etc?
If you want to, but yes the first feed with colostrum is packed with antibodies so is massively beneficial even if you don’t intend to BF permanently

Back to work for me tomorrow. Teaching in a tiny classroom with 32 kids! A portable Perspex screen has been put in my room as extra protection but it’s so hard if you can’t get near them. They’ll be wearing masks as well this time which is good but difficult.

Got 8 weeks until I’m classed as shielding so hopefully they will fly be without incident
Good luck for tomorrow, and thanks for working so hard this year. I used to work in secondary schools and I know how hard it is so can’t imagine how this year has been. Hopefully these 8 weeks will fly by for you.

You did. I used it and it was great 😊 thought id pass it on x
Keep passing it on I spend ages looking for somewhere I could actually find specific information did you end up buying any new skincare? @Sw4 i always read the ingredients as well once I find something as I have committed to it and I agree it is hard to find actual accurate info. I have donated my Charlotte tilbury magic creams to my partner sad times x

Oof had a bit of a down / hormonal weekend. Think the sickness returning has knocked me back a bit but also for some reason, Zoella’s announcement that she’s pregnant has cause me some aggro.

Firstly she’s able to know at 12 weeks that she’s having a girl. Now for this I can admit it’s pure jealousy. We’re finding out what we’re having on 23rd March and I’m just desperate to know at this point so I just got stroppy about that lol

Then in her thread everyone was saying how she’s had good timing cause her baby is due in September cause babies born in September do better in school. All I’ve ever heard when I tell people my baby is due august 30th is ‘oh you best hope baby is late, august babies don’t do well in school!’ And all this shit. It’s not like I can control when baby decides to arrive!

Also in her new video, Zoe is annoyingly sucking a sweet the whole time and food noises wind me up.Someone said it was for sickness, I said she could’ve managed without for the time she was filming that clip. And someone said you mustn’t know what it’s like to be pregnant and sick then!! Oooh the cheek. If only she knew.

so yeah I needed that rant. Basically I’m just a moany bitch but everything’s got to me this weekend!
I’m also the end of July completely irrelevant don’t let it get to you about your due date you will see your baby sooner 🥰 also zoella has just paid for the blood test which we could have all done but it’s just not that accurate it looks for different chromosomes. I wish I was confident enough to announce it to people online let alone millions of people don’t let her get to you or the thread. My sickness is also back today I feel your pain I’ve only had a yoghurt for dinner x I am just wanting a healthy baby at either August or September x

I’d hoped my sickness would be getting better by now- I’m 15 weeks.

Got more medication from the GP this morning and she said ‘I’ll give you another months worth just to be getting with’- that comment didn’t fill me with much hope 🥴
I’ve been looking into medication today but as I’m not actually being sick I’m not sure I’ll be given anything. Do you find it helps though?

I may be different being in Scotland but I don’t have any paper notes and never have with this pregnancy. Everything is on the app now, all my appointments and I have an antenatal, birth and postnatal section where I put all my questions, I also have a birth plan with lots of sections on it Iv to fill in about feeding, vitamin K injection, skin to skin, monitoring baby during labour etc, does anyone else have this ?
Yep I was told I won’t have any paper notes and all my notes are on Maternity Notes app. Appointments and test results go on there and lots of info about everything. Quite good isn’t it?

Has anybody gone private for their maternity care / birth? I have really good cover through work so it won’t cost anything to access but unsure how it works (ive only ever used office services before) - do the NHS just sign you off to them or do they want you still to attend your NHS scans etc so they are aware of your baby and any issues? I’m in London so there are a couple of options for hospitals but I don’t really know where to start.
Im not sure as to how it works in England but here in Northern Ireland my cousins partner went private with both her pregnancies and from talking to her it was no different to doing it through the NHS only difference was she saw the same consultant each time and she went there for all her scans and apps. She had her recent baby in July and actually ended up having to be transferred to an NHS hospital in the end cause she had complications

Is anyone here on baby number 3 or more?

Interested to hear how your second labour/birth (vaginal delivery) went compared to the first?

My first was three hours start to finish and I’ve had a few people telling me that second time round it will be much quicker which is scaring me a bit!
Im on No4, but no3 was section. My second labour was much quicker than my first, however maybe not the best comparison as both my vaginal labours were induced so I guess “fake”.

Didn't get braxton hicks in my last 2 pregnancies apart from if I walked really fast.
But today. My gosh. Its been constant even sitting down! 😑

No point to this post at all but 😂
YES! I’ve never really had BH before this pregnancy and now I’m like “holy crap am I actually going to go in to labour?!” 🤣

These are exactly the same bras I am
Buying I am a 34e/f and I buy xL in the brand I wear and they are supportive enough for me but I am mainly working at home and not doing much exercise due to my pelvic pain so I might have a look on ASOS see if there are any more robust ones for when we can all eventually get out of the house xx
Oh that’s good! Yeah I’ve got quite bad pgp so definitely no exercise... not that I was doing anyway 😆 I sorted out my drawers the other day looking at all my pretty lacy bras and thought hmmmm will I ever wear you again? Haha

That’s it, I couldn’t remember the name of it. I think I’d like to do that if I can.

Yes had this in my last pregnancy and this one, everything was fine last time and my baby was born at 39 weeks 7lb11. Got my first growth scan next week and will get them every 3 weeks until 39 weeks, my midwife told me it’s nothing to really worry about and also a bonus you get to see your baby every few weeks at the end 😊
Glad everything has been fine for you! I’m trying not to google it 😄 but it sounds like most of the time it’s nothing serious to worry about. Mine wasn’t tooo low in any case (0.4 which I think is right on the cut off). Just more tablets to try and remember to take!

Mine was really dry and then I bought some new things and it’s gone away also my scalp has been really dry have been using oil on my scalp I do look greasy but really stops the flakiness. Not sure about the Papp a but I have heard a lot of women having extra growth scans. Also my friend had her baby last night and she had a girl by the sounds of it her birth plan went out the window but I am glad she is ok and the baby! X
Yeah have heard extra scans are very common too!
I washed my hair last night so am enjoying a rare day of it being grease free 🤣

I know I’m in a different area to all you guys but did you have to pay for scan photos at the hospital? It says on my letter to bring pound coins only for the machine to get photos, £5 for 1, £10 for 3. I need to get some cash out and get some change from it before I go!
Hope it goes well today I also was told to bring card because of covid then basically they gave me one picture and it’s not the best if I’m honest and no one said I could buy anymore I wasn’t a fan of the man who scanned me though.

Morning hope everyone is OK, not posted on here in a while @Kitt hope all goes well today.

I'm 19+2 today and the last few days it's felt like my bump has started to pop... Its gone from feeling like I've just put on a few pounds to more of a taut, firmer bump. At the same time my hips and lower back suddenly feel like they've aged 30 years and are so, so achey, it also feels like I'm getting vague period cramps here and there and my lower stomach is a bit tender 😐. Is it normal for all this to happen so suddenly? I'm normally a side sleeper anyway so my sleep positions have not really changed as I know that can be a factor. I'm just thinking if I'm this achey now how am I going to cope in 3rd trimester! I'm usually normal weight and fairly active (work out around 3 times a week plus walks).

Also a bit anxious as I've felt no movement yet (although I don't know if I have an anterior placenta, will ask at my 20 week scan next week).
I think it’s all pretty normal, Iv had backache from around 20 weeks too and it was around the same time my bump started to be really noticeable, it will be stretching pains and the baby getting bigger. I always notice my bump gets bigger after a few days of cramp and pains

I wonder if the guidance about 28 weeks/working etc will change anyway after Boris’s announcement today
It might change at some point but definitely not yet. Social distancing will still have to be a thing for a lot longer yet.

Got my fingers crossed for you. They won’t induce you and get baby out unless they genuinely think they are safer outside than in xx
Yeah that’s true! I think what’s getting me stressed out is having to possibly stay in hospital for weeks if she’s early, i was in and out with my first and had such a good experience with her birth, if only they could all go to plan xx
