Anyone having any cravings?

Not sure it’s a craving but I can’t get enough freezing cold fizzy drinks! Mostly Vimto (as it’s caffeine free) but loving Irn Bru which I’ve never really liked before and draft drinks from likes of McDonald and subway!

Iv never heard of anyone doing this other than the kardashians 😂 not sure what all the benefits are, apparently it helps with menopause? Think I’d rather just go through normal menopause than ask midwives if I can keep my placenta 😆
When I did my birth plan there was a question about how I wanted the placenta delivered, and then the midwife asked if I wanted to keep it for anything 😅

He stayed about 3 hours. It’s meant to be 2 so at least he got a bit longer.

No more visiting allowed now tho so hopefully we can go home tonight/in the morning x
Glad he got a wee bit longer, but absolutely shocking that that is how long fathers are being allowed to stay to support their partner and see their new baby. Must be so hard for them, and for women who could really use the help.

I can’t say I’ve had any weird cravings, although I do eat pickled onions straight out the jar about 3 times a day 🤣🤣

Thank you!! x 😊
I can’t believe what some people come out with at times! Why do people always put a negative spin on literally everything? It’s so weird! Well congratulations on another baby boy! So precious 💛💛 enjoy celebrating your news hun xxxx

I wouldn't say that's a positive test. I genuinely don't want to sound cold hearted I'm just saying it so not to get your hopes up. In all the lines you've put up so far are faint to the point of negative. The tests would have had much more prominent lines than those. And i really hope im wrong too and you get the result you want. I straight away said that's a negative.
You may be right, however the strength of the line is just dependent on how pregnant you are, a line at all means a pregnancy occurred. No matter how faint. all my tests were like this early on, Then they got progressively darker. Regardless of the outcome for this lady (🤞🤞🤞 everything is fine) this test is a positive test that’s for sure.

TRIGGER - talks of premature birth, infant death.

So I posted a few days ago about watching ‘one born every minute’ a few of you said to watch it, few of you said to avoid.
I decided to watch a couple just to see what it was like, I didn’t start from the beginning just randomly picked a couple of episodes, the first episode was lovely, I cried happy tears when the babies arrived and seeing the parents crying just made me so excited for our arrival! Then I watched another episode that included a couple who had IVF (my baby is IVF) so that brought some feelings of sadness as we were in the same position as them, feeling like everything that happens turns to crap! That’s us all over. But it was beautiful to see that she had the baby, no issues and from the view of filming it looked like it happened quite fast which must of been nice for her. The 2nd couple in this episode, we’re teenagers, the mums waters had broke at 18 weeks, they call PPROM, preterm premature rupture of membranes. (I had the same at 23+4, now 28 weeks, no further developments since). Mum was in hospital for 4 weeks, and at 28 weeks they put her on medication to encourage labour, she ended up giving birth to a baby boy soon after , they showed everything , bar blurring out the lady parts. Watching him come out , and looking so tiny and vulnerable absolutely broke me. I was crying so much I couldn’t breathe at one point!
When I had my PPROM, I was told that if baby was to arrive this early that his chances of survival are pretty low, I took it quite well at the time, but looking back i must of been in a daze and only recently have I realised how serious it would be if he came this early!
I carried on watching just because I wanted to see what happens next when they take the baby to NICU, i broke down again seeing him in his incubator being kept alive by machines, I was in complete awe of the parents who were only 17 and 18, they were so strong and held it together so well. After 4 days he sadly passed away, again I absolutely broke down, I had to stop watching and go and sort myself out, it really hit home that this could happen to my baby if he was to come this week. If I can’t cope watching someone else’s baby in NICU, then how am I gonna cope with my own if it happens?
I think my anxiety is pretty heightened at the moment, as is everyone’s because of the restrictions. I certainly wouldn’t be watching as much TV as I do right now, I’d be out and about, and even working on the frontline as a NHS worker, but I am doing an admin role at home till after maternity to keep me safe. I’m finding it difficult stuck in the same 4 walls for work and winding down time, gives me time to research stuff and watch programmes like this!
I appreciate it’s real life, that’s why I wanted to watch some episodes to get a glimpse of what it’ll be like, but fuck it’s hit me like a ton of bricks!
I can’t stop thinking about it! Going into my 3rd trimester, a tired blubbering mess 😥
I hope that I can move on from what I’ve seen, and focus on keeping baby inside and me in a good place!

P.S, i have a 28 week scan today, which I’m looking forward too.Hopefully have some good news regarding my placenta moving and his weight is good!
Sorry to hear this!! This is why I don’t watch that show, as a medic I already know the worse case scenarios and I know it wont help me seeing it (the first birth I ever saw as a medical student was a crash section and the baby needed CPR, thankfully both mum and baby were perfectly fine but it skewed my idea of what birth is like!!)
There’s a fab film that might cheer you up and help you see past the birth; it’s called Babies. I think it’s on Netflix but it’s a while since I saw it. Trailer below - it has no dialogue or narration, it follows four babies in their first year of life from four totally different cultures (Japan, San Francisco, Mongolia and Namibia) and it’s really lovely to watch. The babies are also incredibly cute!

They ask you about 5 million questions at booking appointments some are quite personal 😂 I remember some of them being have you ever had sex for money, have you ever taken drugs, have you ever been abused by your partner, loads of mental health questions ... suppose they need to know! 🙈
So I shouldn’t mention the space cakes I made when I was 14 🤣

She does understand numbers right?! 7/10 is high, what an idiot. It’s crazy how different things are in different places. But you have a legit medical reason for one, it’s not like you’ve just waltzed in and decided you can’t be arsed (no pun intended 🙈) pushing another one out.

Ask her how she would feel if her odds of ripping to her anus and potentially shitting herself for life were 7/10, would she be happy to go ahead.
Right?! 😂
I'm not just asking for one for no reason.
It's been hours since my appointment now and I still just keep randomly crying over it 😂

We told people, I’ve always found it annoying when people say they know the gender but act all coy about telling as generally I don’t care that much (sorry to be blunt!) and am more interested in the name which usually comes after birth!
True. It's only my immediate family that keep pestering 😂 I think I'll just casually drop it in conversation in the next few weeks.

I just had a large Fanta from McDonald’s it was amazing 😂😂😍

Has anyone went off anything they normally love? I can’t stomach Coffee 🤮
Yes coffee for me and I used to be the type that couldn't function without my morning coffee (and mid morning and afternoon coffee)! I now prefer one normal tea in the morning and then caffeine free ones like lemon and ginger during the day.

Now I'm past first trimester luckily most other aversions have gone although I still find I can't eat very big meals no matter how hungry I am. Its not even because I'm full but I will have a few bites and suddenly don't fancy the rest! So I'm just trying to keep eating little and often.

Yeah I’ve been told I won’t speak to a midwife til 10 or 11 weeks. I need to have some vegetables today even though I really don’t fancy them. I’m 6 weeks and 2 days today. Fingers crossed I’ll see baby and a heartbeat at the scan tomorrow.
I wouldn’t worry too much, first trimester is about survival lol I ate so much toast and crisps 🤦🏻‍♀️

I know he’ll be a lovely dad and I’m looking forward to seeing him like that. He struggles to remember to ask if I’m ok after being sick, he’s just not clued in at the moment. I’m hoping today he’ll see baby and it might switch him on a bit.

Hey has anyone lost their appetite in the first trimester I don’t feel sick really just have no desire to eat anything o used to love veg really don’t want to eat it. The only thing I want to eat is cereal 🤷🏽‍♀️
Lol yep - I didn’t eat a single green thing yesterday, just wanted toast. I had some nausea last week but it seems to have disappeared!

Insomnia is getting steadily worse - I’m so tired during the day but then takes me ages to fall asleep and then I wake up like clockwork around 2am every night 😒

@Dogwithabone i know, I literally burst into tears the moment she said it had a heartbeat. Thank you so much. After the stress of the last week, today is what I needed.
Exactly what I done. Brilliant here’s to a happy and healthy pregnancy. I had on and off bleeding with my first pregnancy and all was healthy and well. Look after yourself 😚

Just been reading on another thread and the talk is pregnancy related. And it’s actually really scaring me! People talking about your uterus hanging out, wearing tena pants while smelling like a corpse! 🙈🙈I know they are talking about an influencer not being realistic about babies/ pregnancy/ birth- but it’s actually really upset and scared me. I know these sort of things happen but it’s making me so anxious. Like really badly this morning. Been crying to my other half about it because I feel like I won’t be able to do this whole birth thing! I was trying to be so positive about it, but as soon as I hear negative stories I completely feel washed over with anxiety and that down there will never be the same again and that I will be uncomfortable and pee myself for the rest of my life! It’s making me so panicked and I feel like I’m getting terrified of the birth!! Does anyone else feel this way? Or am I just being a wimp?😳😳Iv never been pregnant before and I just feel like I’m in another world at times. Any words of advice welcome xx
I’m nervous - I’m a doctor so well used to blood, gore and hospitals but it’s different when it’s yourself!! I think the important thing to remember is that yes it is hard and probably the most significant experience of many women’s adult lives, and there may be traumatic events, if it was so terrible everyone would stop at one child or have no kids at all! Your beautiful baby will make it all worthwhile (that’s what I tell myself when I’m thinking of having to change a maternity pad every 1-2 hours and buying all black nighties in case I bleed through them 😆)
