What on earth does “and leave the mouse dangling” mean?! Never heard that before!Hi how is everyone today? I am so tired today could just have a nap and leave my mouse dangling. @Kitt how are you xx
Yeah I've got a second opinion in March.I cannot believe that, she’s insane. It was actually recommended to me to have a section because of my third degree tear.
You can ask for another consultant and opinion, you don’t have to take her no as a final answer. (ETA just saw she has referred you to someone else)
I remember those perfect prep machines went viral after everyone was finding loads of mould in them! Iv always hated those head wraps that cover babies ears with the huge ridiculous bows on the front that people put their newborns inAntenatal classes teach things like how to bath baby, how to safely put them down, current advice like on back, feet to foot, empty cot etc ask your hospital. My trust has a whole course of videos online. (Some are terrible)
The amount of people who don’t do what’s recommended is unreal though. Just look at Amazon reviews on say baby mattresses. ‘It wasn’t very soft so I doubled them up and added a pillow’ with a picture of a quilt and cuddly toys in the cot. The midwife/HV and books would have you believe this is guaranteed death but it’s got 100 ‘helpful’ votes. It’s so stressful to me to even look at because it goes against everything you’re told. But obviously babies are far more robust than they’d have you believe.
I have no idea but these are some things I didn’t know but do now that were surprising to me...
- perfect prep machines that are on a lot of the ‘must have’ lists are not advised by NHS because they don’t use enough hot water to kill bacteria and can be a breeding ground for more.
- Sleepy heads, baby nests too are always recommended by mums. Not by NHS or lullaby trust for suffocation risk.
- Apparently babies noses will squash completely flat as the bone in there isn’t formed and that’s why it’s so easy to suffocate?
- Babies should never wear hats indoors. In fact the whole better to be colder than hotter thing and how easily they can over heat.
Does anyone else have similar ‘revelations’?
It would see how your are in the morning. If it’s still like that I would call the midwives and ask their advice if you should still come or not. They might want you to have a swab which is fair enough as an outbreak amongst the midwives would be disastrous if you did have covid. My husband had a sore throat for a week before losing his sense of smell - he had been going to work all that time as a doctorHi ladies, me again. Sorry to keep posting, but like a previous poster has said this thread is useful for those who are in the same boat and helps a FTM like myself to feel calmer
I’ve had a sore throat come on gradually since lunch time, it hurts slightly to swallow , as the evenings gone on it’s hurting more. My glands are slightly swollen, but I’ve had tonsillitis many times in the past and it doesn’t feel like that this time! Sore throat isn’t on the NHS website as a symptom of covid but I’ve also heard of people having sore throats and coming back as positive
I have my weekly monitoring at the maternity unit tomorrow and I’m freaking out that I’ve got covid.
Basically what I’m asking is would you guys get a test? Or wait to see if it goes away overnight? I have been more busier than usual today and haven’t drank much, dry throat maybe ?
obviously if it’s worse when I wake up , I will definitely get a test, but I don’t want to request one and miss my appointment tomorrow and the test comes back negative! I need these weekly appointments following my PPROM at 23 weeks.
I’m also shitting bricks that if it is covid , the baby will become poorly and something happens to him

Yes! 37+4 and I’m struggling for breath constantly. Just getting in and out of bed is a challengeAnyone else around 38 weeks? Second pregnancy and do not remember the first one being this hard!!! Changed the beds just now and feel like I’ve run a full marathon.
I’m due May 1st, we must be days apartYes they told my sister her waters had not broken, and they refused to examine her. She had her first baby a few hrs later, 6 weeks early.
I don’t know if much will have changed by the , I’m due end of April and not expecting to be able to see my husband after the initial birth and move to the ward. Unfortunately nothing that can be done about it.
It’s so good when you have the same sex if you’ve kept stuff too and you can re use it.Yes I think that's what I'm going to do too just ignore it! Congratulationsgot to love peoples assumptions lol x
I'd wait until tomorrow to see if it's still there.Hi ladies, me again. Sorry to keep posting, but like a previous poster has said this thread is useful for those who are in the same boat and helps a FTM like myself to feel calmer![]()

Please don’t worry about scans. They’re perfectly safe. I had close to probably 20 scans with this pregnancy. They’re there to help you/the doctors.I’ve already had a private scan to confirm I was pregnant, I was just going to book another until someone said it’s unhealthy to be scanned too often, now I feel
I should be scanned every 2 weeks from 18 weeks - 24 (I was with my first baby) as I have an incompetent cervix - surely they wouldn’t do that if there was a danger to the foetus? 2 days stewing and my head is now a mess, any advice appreciate xx
Kellymom is good.
Group B strep is a normal part of our skin flora, about 1/3-1/4 would test positive for it at any time. It only causes an issue in adults when it makes its way into your bladder and can cause a UTI. You'll get antibiotics for GBS in your urine, but not on a swab as it is normal to find it in the vagina. It can, however, cause some babies to become very unwell - working in our own neonatal unit, I have seen babies who have GBS infections that need a lot of help. If you test positive at any time in pregnancy, you'll be offered antibiotics through a drip in your labour to protect baby. If you have had GBS with a previous pregnancy, you may be offered the choice - this is different in some different areas. Your baby will also receive some monitoring after birth - normally that's 12-24 hours of observations every 2 hours (heart rate, temperature, breathing rate). There are some things that make your baby more 'at risk' such as having your waters gone for over 24 hours, being very small, having a premature baby or you being unwell in labour (having a temperature yourself). If baby has 2 'risk factors' (GBS is one, the things I've mentioned and others are the second), or there are any concerns for your baby after they are born, your baby's doctors may want to start antibiotics for baby through a drip in their hand (although this might be different at your own hospital). Usually this is for between 2-5 days, but it isn't just for suspected GBS infections that babies receive this.Has anyone got group B strep? Or had it in previous pregnancies?
did the antibiotics manage to stop it from being transferred to baby? Also, is it something I’ve got for life?
I had one 17 days ago (emergency) - baby was born at 4pm, I was home by 2pm next day. I was desperate to get home though after being in the hospital for three full days. They just wanted to see that I'd done two wees before they let me go after having the catheter out and wasn't in unbareable pain!Question to the people who have had csections previously... How long did you have to stay in afterwards?
Ahhh yes. Us pregnant women love to hold our pee in, we adore running (lumbering in my case) to the toilet twenty times a day. She’s found us outMy midwife the other say said "Make sure you're getting as much out as you can to avoid UTIs"
I'm sorry? Do you not think that's what I'm doing?Do you think I want to feel desperate and then pee a few drops?
