My periods have gone weird again. I’ve had a couple of 25 day cycles, a 26 day one, a 28 day one am now on day 30 and no period. Pretty sure I ovulated later than usual though. Not especially worried as I feel fine otherwise, but I admit I miss the certainty of knowing my period would be on the pill.

I was thinking of coming off my pill (Cilest). Been on it for 12 years 😬 I’m not in a relationship and not currently looking. Feel like my body needs a break after being on it for so long, but worried about the side effects.
oh wow i've been on cilest/logest for 13 years now, crazy! i've only been off it once for a couple months and my skin was the worst in my life so i'm scared to go through that again :(

Has anyone’s hair become super oily since coming off the pill? Or does anyone have any past experience of this happening when coming of birth control. It’s driving me mad 🤦🏼‍♀️
Roots yes! In lockdown I was washing my hair once a week, now I’ve got oily roots after 2 days. Also noticed my skin has a “sheen” in the afternoon 🤣

I came off combined pill last month, currently on day 19 of a “non pill” cycle. Haven’t had any bleeding yet. I came off it once before and my periods came back straight away, but were irregular (they were ranging from 25 to 35 days, not sure if that is classed as irregular). It was one of the main reasons I went back on the pill as I was sick of being taken by surprise!

Thanks! When I speak to my partner about coming off it I think I scare him and he thinks it’s a trap 😂 he says about condoms as it’s not like we have it all the time 🙈 but I always say to him that is the pill as I was changed to rigvedion and it’s been the worst one for that.

Ok has anyone else experienced this. For the past 2 cycles around the same time (just before ovulation I think) I’ve had about 3 or 4 days where I cannot STAND my partner. However what is worrying is that I seem to notice other men a lot more/think about other guys. Even guys that I’m mates with or work with that I have never thought about in that way, suddenly now everyone’s a bloody option according to my brain 😂 Oh except my partner apparently! I’m worried I just don’t want to be with him anymore and my feelings were repressed by the pill for so long- I know it can alter who you’re attracted to:confused:
Ever since I came off the implant last august I’m horny alll the time haha and every guy I’m like 👀 I feel terrible

Ok so since I’ve been off the pill I’ve gained more weight than I have over the many years I was on it. I’ve somehow put on over half a stone in the past 2 weeks alone. I was always quite steady with my weight, it was fluctuate by a couple pounds but I’m heavier now than I have been in a very long time. My eating habits haven’t changed that much, maybe I’ve been having a few extra snacks here and there but nothing to warrant a 7lbs weight gain. I’m so down about it, I feel like it’s spiralling out of control. I thought people lost weight when they cam off the pill 😐
Its almost certainly water retention. You wouldn’t put half a stone of fat on in only two weeks. Do your clothes still fit you? If so I wouldn’t worry too much.

Came off Desogestrel mid Jan in view of TTC later this year. One withdrawal bleed & a period since coming off. Overall I think I feel better in myself. Haven't noticed a drastic change in my skin, have broken out a bit but I wear masks 13 hours a day so can't tell if its mask or hormone related as it was happening whilst on the pill too. I've noticed greasier hair, hadn't realised that could be to do with hormones til reading this thread. Ngl I was expecting to lose a lot of weight when coming off the pill but think it's more my denial of how much I eat 😂 was definitely blaming the pill last few months. Tracking my cycle using flo, find it useful to understand why I feel certain ways at certain points in my cycle. I'd been on different pills for 9 years so couldn't really remember my cycles (apart from very painful & heavy!).

My periods have been a bit painful but only for the first day or two. I know it can take 6 months to properly regulate so preparing myself to go back to heavy, painful periods. I am actually waiting for a second lap to see if I have endo (long story short they've found endo scarring on my first lap but wouldn't officially diagnose me) but my symptoms are actually better off the pill which makes me wonder if my recent issues were hormone related. They also want me to fit the coil when I have the lap, even though I said I'd like to conceive at some point later this year. The gyny Dr even wrote it on my notes to have it fitted & said I can give them a straight answer on surgery day, I'm not keen on it at all!

Glad this tread was started though, I found it so hard finding different people's experiences of coming off the pill. Dr's are so keen to get you on it.
Oh gosh they shouldn’t push you to have the coil if you don’t want it! I really wish doctors would let women take control of their bodies, esp the reproductive system when wanting to conceive in the near future!

It sounds like your body is still adjusting and your hormones are still regulating. I also didn’t lose weight when I stopped taking it, but did notice my weight would fluctuate a lot more day to day. Where as on the pill it was pretty much stable most of the time.

So been having relatively normal periods since I came off the pill around March/April. However the last 2 months it’s gone crazy, my cycle is something like 24 days and at the moment I’ve been bleeding since last Friday which is unheard of for me (I have only ever bled for 3/4 days). What’s more, Ive never had a period this heavy. TMI but I took out my cup after a few hours because I noticed some spotting and it was completely full! Blood was just coming out of me into the toilet  I’ve been feeling very dizzy and light headed which explains why. Ive started taking iron tablets because I’m genuinely worried I’m actually going to bleed to fucking death. Ive never in my whole life had a period this heavy wtf.

I’m sorry you’re feeling down about this! It’s awful when there is no logical explanation! I haven’t heard of people loosing weight when they came off the pill but do you think it could just be your hormones trying to regulate. Like a week before you come on your period your weight can go up but when you’ve finished it goes back to normal? Have you had a period or a withdrawal bleed yet?
It’s so frustrating 😞 I look horrible in everything and I’m so self conscious now. I’ve had one period since I’ve been off it, not due another for a couple of weeks.

Its almost certainly water retention. You wouldn’t put half a stone of fat on in only two weeks. Do your clothes still fit you? If so I wouldn’t worry too much.
Nope! Nothing fits my belly at all, I bought a pair of jeans a size up about a month ago and even those are tight. 😞

Has anyone’s periods not returned after 3 months? I know it says it can take up to 3 months to return to a ‘normal cycle’ but wondered if you can go the doctors after 3 months or if they just tell you wait longer

Haha I wouldn’t mind if any of this was directed to my partner, but it’s not (I’m not gonna cheat on him obviously!)
I also wonder (not that I’ve noticed haha) if coming off the implant can effect how other people look at you? Like when you start ovulating again after coming off BC you give out chemical signals that say you’re fertile, I’d be soo curious to know haha

I'm now just over a year off my pill.

I'm still getting huge amounts of spots that are leaving scars, and my skin is very greasy. I've put on a huge amount of weight that I can't shift. My anxiety is much improved but it has been replaced by constant sadness and I'm ridiculously grouchy, like I almost constantly want to cry or scream or hit something and absolutely everything annoys me all the time, it's affecting my work and my relationships because I just can't stand being around anyone. I absolutely hate who I am now and my vulva skin hasn't gone back to normal, it constantly feels irritated (only on the outer skin and bikini line) like I've got thrush or psoriasis, but I don't. I also get loads of headaches when I don't think I've ever had a headache in my life before.

I'm going to go back on, this is not for me. It's like I've got all the downsides and none of the positives.
That definitely doesn’t sound right! Have you had your hormone levels checked? Acne and weight gain could be a sign of PCOS. Also what do you mean with your vulva skin - have you been tested for STIs and BV/Thrush, it could be something you’re not quite shifting. Also you may be allergic to washing powders or certain fabrics which could lead to irritation to the sensitive skin.

I wish there was a way to stop periods for good without having to take the pill. This is why I take it.... not for contraception. But it kills my sex drive to 0. I'm under 35 so don't qualify for various procedures and don't ever want children, which hasn't and will never change lol. I stopped the pill on Friday so awaiting the withdrawal bleed and then will see. Went 5 months last time with 0 period and it was beautiful 🤣

Has anyone found that their period has been really short since coming off the pill? I stopped in jan this year and had regular ish periods but the last 2 months my period had only lasted 3 days and had really bad pms beforehand. Very teary/hormonal etc. I don’t know if this is normal or if I should be worried?

I’m still waiting for a period 60 days post coming off the pill 😞
When I came off mine earlier in the year I think I was at 5 months with no period before going back on the pill (had various planned events and I knew it would crop up on them haha). Back off it again now so will see what happens

Sorry if this is TMI but I’m thinking it is probably related as I haven’t had it for over 10 years, I’ve just today developed thrush 😩 nearly 4 weeks off the pill, looking up reasons why I can only assume it’s because of the changes in hormones as otherwise my lifestyle hasn’t changed. Hopefully not something I continue to have issues with.

I also get the ovulation pain as well. I used to get it before the pill. I can definitely pin point exactly when I’m ovulating because of it.
