This might be a stupid question. When you go back after a few weeks once the swelling gone down and they swap it for a shorter bar. Do you have to buy the whole earring again or do they keep the fancy end and just swap the bar?

I’m old, so all I have are earlobe piercings. I do like the piercings people seem to have these days in all parts of their ears though. I really came on here to ask what the fascination is with tattoos on females? Not judging in the slightest, I’m just trying to understand what makes you want to keep having them. I want to be more understanding and accepting when my daughter keeps having them and I thought it might help to get some younger people’s views and opinions.
Why not?

I went from 0 tattoos to 4 in a month 🤣 I'm 36. They are addictive.

But also, they aren't a new thing. People have been getting tattoos for hundreds of years. It's just another way of expressing yourself.

I'm almost 26 with 8 piercings including stretched ears but no tattoos 🤷🏼‍♀️ I find, most likely due to TikTok, that young people are having a 'just go with it' attitude when it comes to tattoos and piercings hence why 90% of people have either one or both nowadays in comparison to even 20 years ago. The other side to it as well there's a lot of peer pressure because of it too, but it's not severe... I felt like I saw it everywhere when I was in art college though and I've had people look at me weirdly when I said I didn't have any 😭

Jordan Theresa did a pretty good recently about where the tattoo industry currently stands and her two cents as someone in her late 20s and her relationship with tattoos

If its downsizing you just pay for the new earring, don't need to do it with mine yet but you probably could keep it

I just got my two piercings and asked her about it it it she said they just swap the bar to a smaller length but keep the fancy end part.
I ended up getting an anti tragus and a contra conch and upgraded the jewellery which I have never done. Usually apart from my lobes I get them pierced and never change them 😆

Ah okay, good to know... nice combo, I'm thinking of getting an anti-tragus at the end of the year

It definitely took her a lot to get the anti tragus through and it hurt but now it's the contra conch I can feel. The anti tragus I think did bleed a bit she had to clean it twice and there's a drip of blood now.
I'm not sure now what to put in my lobe piercings as the two I just got are dark blue mostly. I got the dark blue as I'd bought some dark blue earrings for my lobes but now I think it'll be too much of the same colour. I got a plain diamond stud I could use in one and then just a silver design in the other maybe. They haven't been delivered yet so I'll have to see.
I wasn't sure when I went in what piercings I was going to get as I didn't know if I'd have the anatomy for the ones I wanted. Some we ruled out due to glasses getting in the way. I think next I'll get a vertical helix in that side and a mid helix in the other if it would work to make my normal conch look like a faux snug

Downsizing you pay for a new bar as the swelling has gone down so it’d be loose if you left it the same. The earring/jewel whatever is the same, but you can get a new one if you like!

Yeh she said the downsizing will be free unless I want a different jewel. I think if I can I'll swap one of the ones I got today into my other ear and get a new one to break the colour up a bit

I've had a helix piercing since (I think) 2008 and have had piercings in it on and off over the years so it's never really closed up. I recently got a titanium ring to put in it with the intention of keeping it in 24/7. This was about a week ago and it's still tender despite sleeping with a piercing pillow every night (I got my third lobes done in January so will be using it for the time being) and keeping it as clean as I can. Any advice 😅 Maybe it's just a case of getting used to it?

ETA my third lobes are bugging me too. They're constantly irritated and swollen 😕 I really wish I could take all 3 out, just for a night so I could get a good nights' sleep for once :ROFLMAO: sick of the piercing pillow!

I had my forward helix done recently and it’s the only one which has struggled to heal, I think it’s because it’s really awkward to sleep on. The advice I had was to boil chamomile teabags (pure ones, no caffeine) and when they’d cooled just enough to hold it over the piercing till it cooled to reduce swelling. I can’t tell if it worked tbh as it may just have healed itself but it can’t hurt!

I tried a piercing pillow but just can't sleep with them. Since I got new piercings in both ears they hurt a bit but not too bad. My first forward helix which I'm pretty sure is healed now I slept on it as normal so I'm hoping these will be ok as well

Have you tried a piercing pillow? I have a number of healed piercings in each ear and still can't sleep without it.

I am VERY fussy about pillows so prob wouldn't work! Thankfully they all heal eventually, but I do need to start taking pillow placement into consideration when deciding on my next piercing 😂

I have a piercing bump now 😭 not sure if it's a moisture one as my last piercer told me just to spray and not dry whereas previously I got told to dry so was doing that. A few days after not drying it's come up but it could also be from sleeping on it although I did that for 3 weeks and nothing came up

Only just found this thread but love reading about what everyone has got. I finally bit the bullet and got my septum pierced at the weekend. I've wanted it done for so long but I've always put it off as I was convinced it would be extremely painful. It was actually one of the easiest piercings I've ever had! It was over so quickly and hasn't hurt at all since. If anyone else has been considering it then go for it!

I'm getting a tattoo next week still not sure where to put it. All my current tattoos are easy to hide (legs and ribs). My new tattoo I want it on my upper arm but I'm not sure if to put it on my leg so I can hide it easier if I want and keep my arms tattoo free

I have one on the back of my arm. Pretty easy to cover up

Yeah I'll get it on the top part of my arm probably the inner side. I'll have 3 of my biggest tattoos on left side though so I think it'll look uneven. I only have them 3 plus another one that's on the right side. But I can't get it right arm for a medical reason 🤔

So I really really want to get my belly button pierced but I have to go in a hydrotherapy pool quite often at work. It's super clean and checked regularly. I know all the advice says not to swim but has anyone actually gone swimming or similar with a fresh navel piercing...would I be able to cover with a waterproof dressing and risk it???
