I refuse to acknowledge that poster. It is one thing to speculate about a person's sexual orientation and entirely another to suggest they are interested in children (which was what was implied in their suggestive post and also their choice of username). Two completely different things: one is fine (being gay) and one is unthinkable (pursuing children). To link the two just for the sake of stirring the pot is morally wrong.

Then this poster followed up with something like "isn't it funny how quickly Phillip responded", as though Phillip has been browsing Tattle and found he was about to be outed on a gossip forum so figured he must break the news himself.

I think it's simply a coincidence that this poster came on here to say that Phillip is gay- and so many of us already knew that- and that Phillip came out a couple of weeks (?) after that post.
It's highly unlikely that someone 'in the know' decided to crumb on TL.

*Edited for clarity
I responded very quickly to that poster asking them to clarify their message and got no response. Timing was coincidental I think but it was a nasty post to try and position PS as interested in children.

Right so forgive me if this has been mentioned.

I personally think his wife knew from day one and that they had some agreement ect.
My first things that's made me think is his daughters and his wife do not share his surname?

I don't know if this has been posted on this thread or elsewhere on this site so far, but back in 1992, Spitting Image did a pastiche of Tom Robinson's 'Glad To Be Gay', with Philip Schofield and Jason Donovan. Seems like it was well known 28 years ago, but Schofield's wife and mother are making out they are so surprised😛. Here's the link

Matthews Facebook and you tube have been deleted. Eagelbraith Humperwaite has done a video on YouTube but I'm unsure how to share.

Regards to Philip Schofield I just feel ok whatever, but some of the comments on this thread have made me feel so sad for people coming out.
I was fortunate to live in Brighton/Hove for many years growing up and working there. I worked with many gay people and it was just normal society. We had wonderful times working socialising and I’m going back many many years ago.
It’s just unbelievable that there are still other places in this country that are still so bloody ignorant.

Well spotted, they don't do they. His wife and daughters have the surname Lowe.

Wondered about this too. Sounds like the Prince Edward lavender marriage.

Moe, I do not think anyone on here is homophobic in the least. There is(are) another issue(s) at play here. Philip coming out publicly yesterday appears to be stage managed. Apparently, it has been well known in television and showbusiness circles for a long time that he is gay, so nobody is shocked. Yesterday's admission came across as a damage limitation exercise orchestrated by ITV and James Grant management who appear to supply most of the presenters on ITV. Philip appeared on a Friday when it is Eamonn and Ruth's slot when he could have spoken out on the Monday to Thursday shows. Why? Either someone was going to out him in the Sunday tabloids and they wanted to get there first. Or, it's a great way of uniting Phil with Eamonn and Ruth on screen to shut down the feud rumours which were very prevalent during the National TV awards the week before. This is a great distraction. I believe the contributors on this site are cynical about the way this episode has been handled rather than being homophobic.

Piers Morgan has some nerve - supportive message on twitter about Phil but no apology or even acknowledgement Piers actively contributed to appalling, pearl-clutching, moral panic-inducing homophobia back in the day. Example from 1989.
What disgusting language he used! Really shocked at this!

I think that's a Wiki error about the daughers. She's definitely Molly Schofield on her work e-mail. It's fairly common for wives to keep their own surnames especially for work and in the kind of circles they are in.

She has spent 27 years with someone she loves & enjoys spending time with & has had two children with! I’m pretty sure she would disagree with you! Just because things change & your life goes in a different direction, it certainly doesn’t mean that your time was wasted. 😡 All these comments are so ridiculous & insulting too. I’m coming from a personal perspective & I can tell you that the time you shared & all those years are not wasted!! Unless you’ve been in a similar situation - shut up.
Thank you for this. She has the opportunity to meet someone else and be happy just like Phillip can.
