I don’t think he’s gay. I believe stories were brewing about how predatory he has been with young women including one of his daughters friends, and this is the ultimate way to shoot down those stories. Either that or he’s not had sex or a hook up for thirty years, or at the very least nobody he’s taken to bed has thought to sell the story (unlikely, surely) Given that his daughters are adults, he won’t have been able to get a super injunction to cover up any stories for many years, yet nothing came out (apart from him)

How does that explain the fiasco with that Matthew then? And the fact he messaged young lads in the early hours but not young women? Ive honestly not heard or read much about him being predatory towards women he definitely seems to prefer the lads from things I’ve seen. Pretty much everyone in the industry knew he was gay too even before the lavender marriage and he’s clearly been hooking up throughout it.
I think it’s been pretty well established that the whole reason for his ‘coming out’ was because the press had something on him, probably to do with MM. Maybe a deal was made.
Could be, but when we lived in Manchester 15ish years ago I knew a lot of people who worked for the BBC and Granada and his name would constantly come out as being the one person who had sleazed over any of the girls who had started on tv in their early 20s as runners and the like
It also seems pretty standard that anyone who bases their life on sex sooner or later chases more “forbidden fruit” - Robbie Williams got bored of women and went with men for a while just for the thrill before becoming a boring married man.

Yeah true, a lot of what we see is pure PR and deals that have been made behind the scenes. Take nothing you see at face value. I was reading the website of Phil Hall Agency (the crisis management company that the Daily Mail reported PS had hired) and they are very open about how they will help their clients manage a crisis, including liaising with / challenging the press, managing how you appear online / content creation, getting negative stuff taken down, etc. I wish more people knew how these celebs operated.

He also hasn’t moved out like the papers have reported, I think his wife must be either incredibly naive or she knew and wanted the lifestyle, I’m not saying she knew he was gay the whole way through the marriage but she must’ve had an inkling, he is camp as Kylie Minogue, and I watched his broom cupboard days on You Tube the other day and he has a touch of Cliff Richard about him.
I also don’t believe that PS is in to men, it’s boys he is into.
I think HW was quite pissed off too that PS had fooled her into thinking he was straight, wasn’t there lots of rumours in the press that he fancied her when they first started working together? You hear all these rumours that “everyone knew” at the TV that he was gay but maybe in front of HW then the people behind the scenes didn’t talk about him in front of her, and what a further shame for the wife (if she genuinely didn’t know) that people are saying they all knew, yet she didn’t?! The wife is always the last to know.
PS wife was a production assistant when she first got with Phil and so does anyone know if she just stopped working when she married him? I imagine that everything was all about his career, women this is precisely why you don’t give up work and just be a mother and housewife because when your man people on you then your ducked! I would love an interview with her!

Just to point out that strictly speaking, a lavender marriage is when a lesbian and a gay man enter into a marriage for social convenience and often so they can have children. Julie Andrews and her husband Blake Edwards were supposedly an example of this arrangement. Also back in the day Vita Sackville West and Harold Nicholson married for social convenience and to produce heirs. Vita known best for her affair with Virginia Woolf.
I suspect that Steph married PS simply because she loved him, and he obviously had very strong feelings for her and thought maybe the gay would go away if he married her and had a ‘normal‘ family life. He wouldn’t be the first gay man to do that.
I doubt she knew from the off that he was gay. Possibly he told her he was bisexual but no more than that. Maybe he believed that himself? I’m guessing he maybe stayed faithful to her for years but eventually realised he was actually gay and told her at some point once his kids were grown up, saying he didn’t want to act on it, but needed to be honest with her.
I suspect his daughters weren’t told until relatively recently. Their mother assured them that she was OK with it and that they still planned to stay together at least for now. The MM thing meant he had to come out publically.
That’s my reading of it anyway.

My opinion at the moment is that Steph knew and it was an arrangement from the start. Maybe she wanted the nice life and kids but wasn’t fussed about having a ‘real’ husband. Could be wrong of course because non of us really know for sure when it comes to their marriage. Just the fact that back then people knew he was gay makes me think she can’t have possibly not known but like you say she could have thought he would ‘change’ or maybe he really did make her think he wasn’t - we all know how good at manipulation he is.
