Went last night to the O2...

We left halfway. As did many, many others. People around us were laughing and we were like ??? We are (were) big PK fans, his older stuff made me cry when it was original.
This was just a poor rehash attempt at old jokes, some bits just dragged out and were not funny. I literally smirked once before I absolutely lost the will to live.
18 month wait. Waste of time. Honestly it was absolutely shocking.

Whenever I see a story about Peter, I always think he comes across as so weird and joyless. Ironic really.

I like the nostalgia element of his content too. I agree it’s the same jokes and same themes but it’s a bit like when I watch the Royale Family - I don’t get bored of it for some reason . Possibly because I’m from Lancashire myself.

I love PK for nostalgic reasons. When it all gets a bit much I put on his old (old!!) comedy store gig and it still makes me laugh. He's a comfort comedian for me, I'd imagine that's why his gigs still do well considering he hasn't updated his material in god knows how long.

I think he's over. I know everyone is entitled to a personal life but an explanation would have been welcomed, I loved Kay but I don't think I'd bother going to see him now. Plus I agree his material will be predictable. I'd probably like to see him on TV with something like car share again, he does that very well. I do believe that he's probably a prick in real life, the belligerent attitude towards cancelling and his absence cements that for me too. Maybe I'm being unfair.

I think the real reason why Peter Kay's disappeared from public view of late is that he's run out of other comedians to steal jokes off.

I’ve been friends with Peter for donkeys years, he’s a lovely person .. not high maintenance at all. He’s a very private person, and very very different away from the cameras

That's the thing 'he's a very private person' which is why it's easy for people to come on here and talks a load of BS as nobody actually knows because he's that private.

As if his Tour Manager will be tittle tattling about him and telling his secrets...that's him out of a job then!

I take everything I read on gossip threads with a large pinch of salt!

We had tickets too but we said we wouldn’t rebook if he ever said he was going to redo it. I know that probably sounds petty and I’m sure he had good reason for it but he always comes across as someone that doesn’t care about his fans. They like his tv shows etc but he just stops them.

We live near him and see him quite often. If we're going off looks and appearances I'd say it isn't himself who is ill, but who knows? Illness can be invisible.

What I will say is he isn't very approachable. I've seen him be quite rude and cutting when recognised. Before he cancelled his tour and since. It's a bit of a facade that he's this jolly, down to earth guy. In reality he's quite mean and grumpy. Then again, I'm not famous so perhaps he's just fucked off with strangers shouting "garlic bread" at him in Sainsburys

I think you're absolutely right - he's notoriously very private (and good for him) so he probably does get pissed right off with being approached every 2 minutes by strangers. Just because someone is in the public eye, that doesn't mean they have to be "available" to the public all the time. The different persona doesn't surprise me either, there have always been amazing comedians who are very different when not performing - Tony Hancock, Frankie Howerd, Paul Merton, Kenneth Williams to name just a few. They all suffered from the sad clown syndrome.

I think he's so well loved that people have felt personally aggrieved when he's cancelled or postponed shows when really we need to remember that he owes us absolutely nothing. Much as I love him, if he never does stand up again then I'll just be grateful for the laughs he has given us. I hope him and his family are doing OK.

I dont know how people can say it wasn't him that was ill. He has lost weight, his hair is different and he looks like he is in recovery. When he did the Comic Relief special a couple of years ago, he barely spoke, had sunglasses on and a hat. They made it look like it was part of his "costume" but it was clearly covering him up.

He’s really good at observational humour. A lot of the things he jokes about are things I recognise from my own upbringing and daily life. That’s what makes him so funny IMO.

I served him once in a shop I worked in and he was very grumpy and rude to me! He wouldn’t take pictures with fans either but then again he was trying to shop... it must get annoying!!

That's why I could never be famous! I found it annoying enough when our dog was a puppy and people would come up to us uninvited in public . Couldn't imagine how it would be trying to shop, etc.

The most talented comedians either evolve in terms of material or refine and hone their schtick enough to remain a source of entertainment. Kay has never done either of those and in a world of monumental egos, his is right up there. In his mind and by his own admission he has never had a bad gig, has always been the most talented act on any bill, must be credited as the creative force behind every success he’s had and so on.

In the interests of me feeling magnanimous, I’ll save you the trouble of going to see him by asking if any of you remember white dog shit? That is the material which he has dined out on in excess of twenty years in live shows. A one-trick nostalgia act with end of the pier material that is at times questionable, if being generous.

I'm sure someone said it was leukaemia in one of the Secret Gossip threads. I can't remember if they said it was them or a relative who was in a hospital for treatment and he was in at the same time and from what they heard, it wasn't his first time battling it.

This is true. He did have it & he’s had it previously too. Can’t say how I know without it being a big confidentially breach but yeah definitely Leukaemia and definitely him.

So PK has an injunction and has kept very quiet about anything going on in his personal life (quite rightly). Yet you think his manager has revealed all to some guy driving his cab. Course he did . This is none of our business, he isn’t courting media publicity, leave him alone Fgs. This isn’t some juicy gossip.

Whenever you see old clips of him being on chat shows, Parky, Jonathan Ross etc. He's always just making it the Peter Kay show, making a show of himself, making it all about him and rehashing some of his 30year old material.

After cancelling the tour he did two surprise live shows for a really small audience and it was in aid of a charity that nobody had really heard of that dealt with a specific children’s disease. I walkways suspected that was his thank you and that he’d cancelled as one of his children had been diagnosed with something

God forbid anyone in your family ever gets a serious illness and you want to spend time with them
