They do say you begin around 35yrs for peri but major symptoms for some maybe another 10years. I have a friend who started late 30’s but only realised properly in her early 40’s.
Never heard that. The average is 45 I believe. Not many start in their thirties

I am finding women in their thirties claiming now to be in perimenopause because they can tick a few symptoms off which is worrying.
( Aware you can be but it's rare or medical)
I've seen that too. Any slight discomfort is a peri symptom.

Some women may experience symptoms from their 30s onwards. First symptoms often relate to period changes. Looking back I had significant changes in my periods- became extremely heavy and painful since my late 30s. However I didn’t put it down to peri until my mid-40s. The research around peri/menopause is woefully minimal which leaves women having to navigate this part of normal ageing with minimal support.

Perimenopause can absolutley start in your thirties i think they reckon 35. Whilst it’s not common as such we are all different:

Don’t forget some people have early menopause so their peri will be earlier too. It’s around ten years before the actual full menopause.

Some of my subtle symptoms started in my very early 40s. I’m 45 now. Luckily nothing has gotten terrible and is manageable currently but my sister was on HRT before 50 as she couldn’t cope anymore with the mental health/emotional side. So we shall see!

I agree and have said it can start in your thirties but it's not the norm and usually there is a medical reason.

I wasn't dismissing women in their 30s experiencing peri symptoms, particularly in hindsight ( I'm one of those women) . I think periods change around that age , and we get a new normal.

It's every unpleasant feeling isn't due to peri. Men that age complain about the same things so it obviously has another cause.

I listened to this podcast yesterday and it seemed to link so many things I’m experiencing or have done in the last few years…

Perimenopause (at 40)
ADD (inattentive as far as I can tell)
Hypermobility (not extreme but does cause issues)
Long Covid (vaccine seemed to cure it)
Depression (since Covid)

Sort of comforting knowing these may all be related rather than just me getting an unlucky quintuple (?) whammy. Anyone else feeling a similar mix?

Oh my god is my inner ear eczema because of peri???
I read this comment and the responses a couple of weeks ago and thought ‘oh another random peri symptom but not one I’ve had yet’. Didn’t think anymore about it.

Then a few days ago I noticed a small patch of eczema on my ear…

What a strange symptom! I can understand eczema due to hormonal changes but why specifically in the inner ear…

Put anti fungal cream on it. If it goes away you know what it really is.

I have posted on here before but I’m really struggling with rage. Like all the time. Everything and everyone annoys me. It’s getting so out of hand and I feel awful as it’s probably not justified at all. I just want to be alone and everything feels like a bloody chore and Groundhog Day. I had the merina coil fitted last yr (I’m 44) and they pushed it as it can help with hrt also and see me through the menopause. I feel like I’m losing my mind slightly. I’m so angry and don’t feel joy/happiness like I used to.
I’m suffering massively with insomnia during the night too. I can get to sleep ok but I wake at 1/2am and awake for hours.

How do you get tested for menopause? Do I go to GP and just ask for a blood test? Thank you so much in advance xxx

Blood tests are unreliable so my GP said they just go on symptoms. I was offered HRT the first time I went with perimenopause symptoms but not all GP’s are as clued up.

I would make an appointment and discuss your symptoms.

Just seen this thread, haven’t posted before but here is my life since turning 43

Bloating. Always bloating. Can’t eat anything without bloating.
Frizzy dry hair, not damaged but DRY AF no matter how much oil or masks or nice stuff I put on it.
Anxiety - have spent 43 years literally not worried about future events, never understood anxiety - now I am full of anxiety
Pelvic floor totally unreliable - I’ll say no more
Lack of libido and ummm, lack of moisture?
can’t dress myself, feel I look ridiculous in everything and just want to be invisible. Hate anyone looking at me, especially men

up until 43 I was killing it, I was glowing at 40, radiant!

woke up 43 and my body started to fall apart.

periods haven’t changed and I’m still ovulating so the factory is still open but there’s some serious restructuring going on.

Despite all of this I’m really happy with my life generally. This is very specific to my body and mind. It’s like I’m becoming someone else.
Trying to be kind to myself

balls isn’t it, 30 years of periods and now this

I sympathise! It does sound like you could talk to your GP about HRT. Maybe try a probiotic tablet for the bloating and a few of us on here have mentioned magnesium supplements helping. I can’t remember what they’re supposed to specifically help with now though!

My husband was having a cuppa with me earlier talking about the agro he has shaving the little tuft of hair under his nose 🤣and how irritating it is when he misses it! So I stopped him and listed the above posters symptoms as well as period woes, pregnancy and birth, peri and menopause and said complain when THATs what you have going on! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

The doctor gave me some vaginal estrogen! So I feel like I had a successful phone appointment. I'm giving the minipill ago too.

Has anyone had a late menopause? My mum has passed but had hysterectomy at 42 but her sister didn’t stop periods til mid fifties.
I’m 51 and have erratic cycle but zero other symptoms really?
I Dont have symptoms really and I’m the same age as you. I have had night sweats a few times a year. My mum was early 60s before her periods stopped.

I could have written this (although I get flooding during my periods). My digestive issues are so bad at the moment that running has to occur via toilets and yesterday when I got there I realised I had to run home in a very embarrassing state.

My medication for my cluster headaches now requires me to be on contraception (due to new research). I can’t be on the normal pill due to the cluster headaches and the mini pill was giving me a period every 2 weeks. When I explained to the dr that I was in a gay relationship (of 20+ years) and that there was zero chance of me getting pregnant, I was told that wasn’t a good enough reason. Tears. Jury still out as to what will happen (no chance of a coil due to things happening previously.)

Why can’t we be listened to? We are all experiencing these problems and we are still being treated like children who cannot be trusted.

I have magnesium to help with my leg cramps at night. Also helps with constipation which I seem to be obsessed with at the moment.
I even have a poo diary which if you had told me I would have 10 years ago I would have laughed. A bleeping stool chart ...literally tit getting old.

I got that too. Can't remember how long it lasted. Felt like months. Itchy all the time, very annoying.

Find an understanding doctor and explain your symptoms; check them against the NHS website and take that with you on your phone for support.
Explain you’re speaking to friends and/or colleagues who are similar age, with similar experience and are on HRT, and you’d like to be too.
Good luck.
