Re sleep; are you on hrt? I’ve cut my caffeine down lately which has been really hard but I do feel like I have more energy. I have no trouble falling asleep, but issues with enough deep sleep.
No, I'm not on anything, haven't reached the point of trying to see a GP about it all yet... but same for me, I can fall asleep no problem but guarantee I'll be awake at 2:30am every night. I'm not sweaty, I don't need the loo, just wide awake. Then usually have to use a sleep app to fall asleep again.

I prefer protein to carbs. Im eating less bread and potatoes with my meals these days. I feel better in myself when I eat protein, especially meats.
I can't eat potatoes at all anymore, it's instant bloat & discomfort. Bread is another story though... I bloody love bread, of all kinds. Sigh.

Just keep the pads/tampons/liners on you, just in case. Have you had any trauma at all? That can delay periods for months. If not, just keep tracking. Mine were all over the place for years and now they seem to have settled down again after years to a regular pattern. I’m 50 xx

That's a good idea re the eggs! And thanks for the reminder about mackerel on toast, I do enjoy that. It's just annoying how much effort has to go into eating, as well, now. Even trying to sleep is an effort😫

Hard boiled eggs definitely!. Throw some jalapenos on the mackerel before grilling. It's delicious.

Yes. I'm 42, quite often I just don't fancy eating. I don't seem to get hungry. BUT when I was talking to my friend about this, she's also 42, she said that she thinks I'm not eating enough which is why I'm gaining weight or struggling to lose it. I then tracked what I ate for about a week and she's right, I'm barely having 1000 calories some days, and it's been mainly carbs, nowhere near enough protein. I try to do weight-bearing exercises at home and go for walks, clearly not doing enough - but do any of you have suggestions on how to increase my protein intake? I can't face eating chicken or other meats all the time, I do have eggs almost every day, so any of you use any protein powders or other protein foods?
Do you eat yoghurts? I usually have a protein yoghurt on my tea break at work. Most have between 15-25g of protein per pot. Greek yogurt is also high in protein, love it mixed with some berries.

I go through phases of having those. I guess if I put in the effort to learn a new habit, I'd remember to do all this stuff.

i made an online referral to my GP surgery last week after realising how many peri symptoms i have. this morning i got a text from the surgery (at 9am) saying they've booked me in at 11:15am
Do they just think nobody works or can make appointments on a day they didn't expect it, and at 2hrs notice? I've now had to re-jig things at work for this. i'm SO pissed off.
Anyway, hoping they give me something and hoping it helps.
ETA: i put shower gel on my toothbrush this morning and plant food into my washing machine, so any help i can get will be grabbed with two hands.

Sorry but it’s scientifically impossible that you are gaining weight by not eating enough. This is a very old myth (also things like “starvation mode”). If you are genuinely every single day without fail only eating 1000 calories and not losing weight, you need to go to the dr because something is very wrong. More likely, some days you are eating that and others you are eating at maintenance or over. And moving less than you used to when younger.

Quoting myself to say I’m now sitting in my garden with an HRT patch on my leg. Let’s hope these work! If not I’ve to go back in 2m to try something else.
was listened to ✅
Was taken seriously ✅
Was given options ✅

So glad I found this thread, had some issues that I had no idea were peri, I’m 47 - needing to wee urgently, feeling a bit weepy, tinnitus then some more obvious ones, rage and awful period pains and headaches. Went to the doctor who did blood tests due to my thyroid issues and then offered me HRT. I am four days in. Feel calmer already, I am still having completely regular periods, curious how this month on HRT will work, have to go back to the doctor in three weeks for another prescription and to let them know how I am getting on.

I’m so scared I’m showing early signs of dementia.
Last week on 2 separate occasions my husband went into the kitchen and found the fridge left open by me. 😮 Admittedly it’s a heavy door and if you push it, it doesn’t always close but he said it was wide open.
I’m also becoming extremely clumsy - I trip up frequently, spill drinks, drop things, etc. I haven’t fallen over this year but last year I fell over 2 or 3 times.
I sometimes even forget what I’m talking about mid sentence. 😢
I’m praying it’s peri related and others are going through similar. ☹
I know they say if you’re aware of these things then it’s not dementia but it doesn’t stop me worrying.

Been prescribed Everol Sequi patches due to peri symptoms. I’m 41, but early menopause is in the family. I haven’t had a period for 46 days now (usually they average around every 25 days). Am I ok to start the patches anytime, or do I need to wait for my next period to start? I have a blood test to check hormone levels this Friday, so want to wait until after then as the patches will affect the result.

I'm the same,............ family are demanding I move to one level as I've been falling downstairs 🙄
Maybe menopause has made my concentration go as I used to be so focused. My brain feels really scattered now, where I can't settle to anything.

That’s the ones I’ve just been prescribed today, too.
I finished my period last week then it came back for and went away again so they took my last period as being Saturday. She didn’t say when I could or couldn’t take it and just said I should start to feel clearer quite quickly so I stuck it on my thigh at lunchtime.
have to go for bloods on Thursday as I’m a few months short of 45. Either way she was happy to prescribe this to me. Trying to act like I’m not pinning my hopes on it, but I am…

Someone mentioned Menopause Matters forum which I used to read a lot and what you have written was very common on there and all peri related which does cause brain fog.

Also I think I recall you having broken sleep? This causes what you have described.

I’m touching wood but after months of night sweats and sleepless nights I seem to have come out the other side and my memory is so much better and my brain fog has lifted and I feel so much better from not having broken sleep.

wouldn't exactly say trauma, but I've definitely had a bad time recently

and I'm nodding along here to everyone having trouble eating. I'm having the same thing. I'm just never hungry. I know I talk about my dinners and snacks on f+d sometimes, but my appetite just isn't what it was

I second that protein pots are the way forward!

I’ve heard bloods are unreliable as they can fluctuate so much. I’m a believer that we know our own bodies and when something isn’t right. Hopefully things improve for us 🤞I tried the same patches about 3 years ago and had some unpleasant side effects, but I think my own hormone levels were too high at that point and I wasn’t ready for it.

That's true, I didn't track for longer than about a week. I'm definitely much less active, I no longer have a dog, I work 12-13 hours a day and it's like a vicious circle of not having the energy for going for a walk, but then feeling worse for not doing exercise. I've been mega stressed for most of this year as well (work, family, bereavement), feeling depressed & I'm sure all of this together isn't helping.
