Editing to say thanks to Mrs M who says this info is widely available. 🥴
I’m sharing this here because I only just learned about it and I’m absolutely fucking furious that neither my doctor or pharmacist would mention this.

Does anyone know if doctors have guidance to prescribe HRT if a certain number of those checklist symptoms are in place or is it an individual decision each time?
I think according to the NICE guidelines the GP is supposed to go on the symptoms presented by the woman. That is what I quoted to the first useless GP, luckily my second visit to my usual GP proved a success as he was extremely sympathetic and knowledgeable and provided me with great care. I was lucky 😌

Is anyone really struggling with their weight? I can’t manage to shift even a pound, my job is very active, I got walking about 2/3 times a week, I’ve even cut my alcohol intake down & not losing anything 😭I feel fat & bloated all the time, and apart from starving myself I can’t think of anything else to do
It's tougher than ever. But basically, as we get older, our metabolism slows down, we need fewer calories. If there is a diet that always served you well in the past, if doesn't mean it will work today.

Walking is great for you, but they do say that "abs are made in the kitchen". Think about it: a 5k run only burns around 300 calories. The best way to lose weight is to actively seek a calorie deficit. I use MyFitnessPal and track everything. And so you know (read it and weep) when I want to lose weight, I need to consume 1200 calories a day. And I am extremely active: In the mornings, I run 3 times a week, and I strength train the other four. Plus I have a dog I walk twice a day, and in the evenings, I go to yoga 3 to 4 times a week. I need around 1500 calories to maintain my weight, even with that level of activity. In the past, I could lose weight on 1500 calories and no exercise.

~Thank you @50sGirl, I'm pretty messed up most of the time with something or other, but its particularly bad at the moment. I'm going away next week for a few days so hopefully that will help. Its awful loosing a parent isn't it. It knocked me sideways as I didn't realise it would affect me this way, Dad and I hadn't been talking properly for a while and so thats mixed up in it too, I was able to visit him before he died and I think he knew I was there. Everyone copes differently with everything, I need to stop comparing myself to everyone and just be me.

Ever since I started peri things have changed so much and my world kind of turned upside down. This forum is a real comfort and I'm grateful for your support. Lots of love x
Sorry for your loss, sending lots of love to all who have had someone close pass away.

I also lost my dad last year after a short and brutal illness.

Now a few months later I think I’m really feeling how perimenopause plays into it too. Fatigue, low mood (though hugely helped by estrogen which I started just after he was diagnosed). And just feeling in the midst of the interminable slog of life and to what end?!

Very much could be the ‘Blue Monday effect’ so sending extra positive energy to everyone slogging through it!

Sleeping during these hot nights when you’re suffering from peri hot flushes is horrendous! Lost count how many times I woke up last night feeling like my body was on fire. I’m lucky I don’t actually sweat, but that feeling of not being able to cool down is awful 🥵 Very tired and headache today due to lack of sleep.

My perimenopause symptoms have gone. I have a period about 4 times a year. I used to be awake for about 2 hours each night and have severe aches and pains in my legs on standing, to the extent where I either had to hobble really badly or stand still for about a minute for the pains to cease. I've given up alcohol and take a million supplements so the problem I now have is that I don't know if the supplements helped (and which ones) or if it happened on it's own.

Here's what I take:

Vit D
Omega 3
Calcium
Magnesium
Collagen powder
Apple cider vinegar
Vit B3
Vit B12
NAD

Had my hystoscopy today with biopsies and Levosert coil inserted. The surgeon said everything looks really good and healthy. It was uncomfortable but not horrendous. The pain seems to completely have gone now. Hopefully it’ll help the vile heavy bleeding.

Mil was on it for 5 years.

My wife just asked her but asked her as is “how long were you on HRT ? Asking for a friend 😎” and she replied “what friend?”

😑

(We are both in our mid 40s. This house is NOT fun sometimes.)

I find placing something cold on the centre of my chest really helps cool my whole body down at night. I've tried various cooling pads but my favourite is a small hot water bottle filled with cold tap water

What does everyone do for exhaustion? I'm drinking coffee all day just to stay awake but there has to be something better. My doctor is no help...basically told me to suck it up.
Do you take iron tablets? I started taking them about 6 months ago and I think they've helped. I recently had my bloods done and my iron levels were borderline and that's after several months of tablets 😱

This is advertised in literally every pharmacy I’ve ever been in

Sitting waiting for my gp consultation to see if they will give me hrt. Feeling so nervous about it but no idea why really need something to get my head straight and stop my horrendous night sweats - will probably blame my antidepressants for that but it’s definitely getting worse as I’m getting less and less nights it doesn’t happen. Migraines have increased too has anyone experienced that with the menopause?

Regarding weight gain. I gained a stone rapidly before I started HRT.
After I started I haven't put any weight on but couldn't lose any weight whatever I tried. Started Monjouro 2 weeks ago and lost 8lbs already. It's oddly also helped my mental health, feel much calmer in my head.

Just seen this thread, haven’t posted before but here is my life since turning 43

Bloating. Always bloating. Can’t eat anything without bloating.
Frizzy dry hair, not damaged but DRY AF no matter how much oil or masks or nice stuff I put on it.
Anxiety - have spent 43 years literally not worried about future events, never understood anxiety - now I am full of anxiety
Pelvic floor totally unreliable - I’ll say no more
Lack of libido and ummm, lack of moisture?
can’t dress myself, feel I look ridiculous in everything and just want to be invisible. Hate anyone looking at me, especially men

up until 43 I was killing it, I was glowing at 40, radiant!

woke up 43 and my body started to fall apart.

periods haven’t changed and I’m still ovulating so the factory is still open but there’s some serious restructuring going on.

Despite all of this I’m really happy with my life generally. This is very specific to my body and mind. It’s like I’m becoming someone else.
Trying to be kind to myself

bollocks isn’t it, 30 years of periods and now this
---

omg I have a random patch of eczema, never ever had it before.
I’ve been using caster oil which has really helped.
My husband was having a cuppa with me earlier talking about the agro he has shaving the little tuft of hair under his nose 🤣and how irritating it is when he misses it! So I stopped him and listed the above posters symptoms as well as period woes, pregnancy and birth, peri and menopause and said complain when THATs what you have going on! 🤣🤣🤣🤣

51 in a few weeks. 3 months without period and it came yesterday.
all my life I’ve had unbearable pmt. To the point where I was normal one week a month. Holidays were booked when I was on my period as that was better than the pmt.
just want it all over. But peri menopause is almost a relief as nothing could be as bad

I am finding women in their thirties claiming now to be in perimenopause because they can tick a few symptoms off which is worrying.
( Aware you can be but it's rare or medical)
